This is a stolen fight song....this is Austintown Fitch High School's fight song in Youngstown, OH. Has been their fight song far longer than GCU has existed.
Stolen or reused? Yale's fight song tune has been used by no fewer than 2-3 other schools (though with their own lyrics), and at least four schools use different versions of the song "Stand Up and Cheer".
As I proud Cornell grad, I’ve always thought this was a dumbass fight song. The first time I heard it at a game , my first thought was “Why the fuck are they playing ‘Give my regards to Broadway’”. After I found out what the lyrics were, I thought it was even more dumb.
After 7 years and many different colleges I found my home as an Online Student at GCU. This past week I am very proud to have participated in my Commencement Ceremony 🎓 and became a Lope for Life 💜
The primary fight song for UCSB is Gaucho-I have a recording of it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MFagZWtyXE8.html The first song on here is not Olé, but Sons of California. The Gaucho Pep Band has played Olé in the past, but I'm not sure if they still do. I did find a video of the student section singing Olé: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yqRrLZOYft8.html. As far as I know, only Cal and UC Davis play Sons of California The second song on here is Big C-which is a fight song for the whole UC system. I've heard Cal, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Riverside, and UC Merced play Big C, but I'm not sure if UCSB has ever performed it.
Just noticed that Delaware borrowed the refrain from Lehigh Will Shine for the breakstrain in its fight song (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3PsXqYkXkNA.html)
