18 Trackhawk, stolen.. 19 Challenger Redeye Stolen.. Now I have a ZL1.. and there are now tons of them getting stolen.. But I now don't ever drive the Z into the city.. Moved out of the city to a suburb about 25mi south and it won't be out of my eye shot.. There is nothing I despise more than a thief.. The only thing that makes me feel good about the two lost rides, are that I now have learned the guys got caught for both of them.. It was the same group of 3 guys that just so happened to get both of em, and are now facing a lot of time in prison, 2 of them got 20yrs, one got 10.. the two with 20, also have 250k in fines, and the one with 10yrs has $35k in fines.. They all have ruined their lives.. The got proof of them in 17 car thefts, and also took down the shop cutting them up and selling the parts online..

@@SenCityOfficial no sarcasm in my intentions. From a viewer's POV, it looks like this build is emotionally charged due to the ups and downs of feelings projected. Building S130 is all fun and corky unlike a z31, or s30s. I was just giving what I thought was useful feedback from your viewers POV since you make content for views. Not everyone will give criticism that can help build. Regardless, I have a 7 s130 parts cars if you guys need anything reach out. Nothing makes me feel better than to see these things on the road. Just a thought I was only being polite with giving feedback, to keep watching s130 content as it is rare. But if you guys took it negatively I won't bother, no hard feelings. @@DDali-r3u Oh 100%. This is my first heavily modified car.. of course I am emotionally attached lol. But besides that- I think feeling discouraged from time to time is completely normal when dealing with platforms like ours. 40 years old, full of quirks and limited support in the aftermarket parts department. Doesn't mean I intend to quit nor does it mean I'm "not meant to work on cars" just because I feel temporarily discouraged. If anything all of these minor setbacks will simple fuel to feeling of accomplishment once I finally have it "done" and on the road!
My 1981 280ZX had entirely crushed and rusted frame rails and the driver's floorboards were swiss cheese... I've got one frame rail rebuilt and the other underway! You can do this. It might take a week though. Recommend 0.030 welding wire and a MIG welder that can run it.
@@SenCityOfficial You can do it! Practice with some correct thickness metal. Harbor Freight welders can do it. I have an Everlast and one of HF's Titanium welders for Mig Tig and stick and honestly the HF one works pretty well with the thinnest wire that HF sells. 25 percent CO2 and 75 percent argon gas required. I had said this to you a long while back lol. nothing is impossible but you gonna worka hard for sure. The Z line of cars will always be a headache there made of steel. Easily will rust unless properly painted and protected. That car is an antique not a classic any longer so your problems are gonna be different. Keep at it but it will be a boat load of blood, sweat and beers. Don't give up or else it will be another ZX in the junkyard getting picked apart by poor people.
Nice to see you working on the car. Don't be discouraged by the rust or other stuff... it's all fixable one way or another. Repairing it with new metal would be best, but there are less involved, less expensive options for making a decent repair that don't involve welding. There are epoxies designed for these types of relatively minor rust hole repairs, as long as it's not structural. Just offer a worst case scenario option if getting the repair done with new metal turns out to be more difficult or more expensive than is reasonable. I appreciate the advice. I definitely want to repair the rust the “best” way possible. So right now- I am definitely looking into welding options. Some shops don’t even seem interested in helping which is crazy because if I’m paying… why do you care? 😂 so if that falls through I may have to look into the epoxy options. Thanks for your advice 🙏
@@SenCityOfficial I'm totally with you, if you can find someone who is willing AND capable to do the work. It seems like more and more body/paint shops avoid doing classic and vintage car work. I think it's probably a combination of the jobs being more involved/difficult, newer body shop techs are less capable/experienced at proper metal working, the expectation of the customers is higher, and it's easier to get paid for insurance work than dealing with a customer that may be shocked by a high bill. Old Z cars like the S130 are well known for having thin and highly rust prone sheet, which is extra difficult to work with and is often a can of worms for a shop to deal with. So you have to search out shops that can do the work, and do it well, which is tough anywhere these days. You might reach out to some local joints that do vintage car stuff, and Zs specifically. You're in ATL, right? So maybe reach out to the Black Cloud guys and see if they have recommendations. I also know a couple folks in the classic car scene in ATL that I can ask for you. Let me know.
BTW, I'm very very empathetic about the rust. We inherited an '81 S130 2+2 from my father-in-law (the original owner). With 280k+ miles of hard hard hard HARD Miami life, the car is absolutely brutally beat, and oh, the rust! It's going to be a major major project when I get around to it, but I'm already reconciling myself to the compromises it'll require because I can't justify the costs of what it would take to make it truly proper and restored. So yeah, I really appreciate what you're trying to do with your Z.
I love this Sarah! You are not alone. My 280 had a HUGE rust spot under the driver door and all sorts of other places. But every time I see yours it brings back awesome memories! 🫶🏽 Don’t give up! I wanna see this thing on the road! 🔥
I definitely don’t want to give up… but it is highly discouraging. Nobody makes after market parts for these cars which has been a huge struggle for what I want to do with this platform… then this. 😅 definitely discouraging. But I want to see my vision come to life so I am not giving up just yet 🥹 I appreciate your support and words of encouragement 🙏
@@SenCityOfficial I can’t imagine the heartbreak. You don’t need a lot of aftermarket parts to make it clean. And rust can be repaired. It’s a monumental task but you got this! Bondo and fiberglass lol

Glad your keeping the L28e atleast for a while it's a great dependable engine have fun with it. I recommend getting headers 2-1/2 inch exhaust, and a protunerz intake manifold for show purposes 😁
