Wow, I forgot about this game. I didn't play it much, but it showed me how I need to get better at video games. I think my habit was to keep backing up, which put me against he left border, making it harder to maneuver against rockets. But I didn't want to push forward because a rocket could get me then, too.
In my imagination the engineers are tasked to work on some kind of missile system and they're secretly creating a game but their managers can't figure it out
7:08 "Now that's using your head." No lie, I remember using that same joke in the arcade in '82 when I was 10. The older kid playing thought I was clever. It meant nothing to me. And everything to me. The fog of youth.
I loved this game. Easily my fave Atari. We used to get laughing so hard we'd pee ourselves. Yorgle, Grundle and Rhindle, the Duck Dragon Trio. Yorgle was stupid, Grundle was mean, and Rhindle was a full-on bastard. In fact, back in 1980 or so, my little sister thought Rhindle's name was "F*ck" for the longest time because every time he turned up, whoever was playing would say, "F*CK, F*CK, F*CK, F*CK!" One time our Mom was playing, and Rhindle charged onto the screen, and my sister said, "Mommy, run! It's F*ck!" Mom had some questions for us....
You're forgetting the most important tactic, which was actually mentioned at the end of the manual. - Shoot the front walker until it is yellow, the weakest colour before death. Their walking speed slows down with their colour. This will slow down the front walker so it walks slowest towards the base. - Start killing the 2nd walker onwards but leaving the front-most walkers yellow (again to slow them down and weaken them to near-death). - Keep an eye on the scanner, until the radar fills up with 4-5 walkers. - Shoot the 2nd walker until it is yellow to weaken and slow it. - Fly to the back of the say 5 walker convoy and shoot the last 5th walker until it turns yellow. This will slow it down and prevent reinforcements from coming in too fast - Take your time to destroy walkers 4 and 3. Finish off walkers 1 or 2 if they get too close to the base. - Rinse and repeat I think my record was 1.5 hours - but things got so stressful and the walkers started to shoot like machine guns it was impossible. Also I used a Quickfire II joystick with auto-fire that helped a lot with the fire rate.
