And just to add something that gave me trouble... once I got all the hub assembly bolts out, I had to bang on the end of that spindle with a (soft!!!) deadhead hammer just due to it being on there for so long. Anyway thanks for the video!
I just about went this route.. but after watching some dyno videos comparing the same 5.3 with stock manifolds vs Shorty headers vs long tubes, I decided to just stick with a new set of manifolds. Shortys just don’t change the sound much and minimal power gains. Long tubes will give you the better sound and best performance but I’m not putting long tubes on a daily driver so the sensible conclusion was stick with the manifolds
Thanks for getting straight to the point and doing a great job explaining the process. Most DYI videos/influencers feel they have to tell a whole life story before getting straight into what’s being searched. Kudos to you brother.
@@jimmytwotone2127yes. After fixing a flange leak by re-torqing, sounds unbelievable and gives the truck some balls. Stick to OEM gaskets and prepare to run out and grab longer studs n nuts where the header bolts to the Y pipe. The lip is thicker than stock manifold
@SeanSullivan-u3j thanks for the reply. I kinda figured it needed NEW flange bolts over those cheap bolts they send. But they was fine after you got new bolts? And that was the only issues you had ? They were good after you put new bolts in and you like them? How are they holding up? I don't want to give myself a headache by putting them on and having to deal with bolts loosening up all the time. Thanks again.
Thanks for actually showing how you used the pry bar. I wish I had found your video before doing the work on my truck. Just installed 2" RC N3 lifting struts on my 2014 Sierra (4wd). I only loosened the tie rod end and sway bar end link to provide a little more play. You can remove and reinstall the struts without taking everything else apart. HOWEVER, you will have a harder time as you will have to force the old strut out and the new one in. Ultimately, I ended up jacking up the bottom of the strut just a bit while pounding out the lower mounting bracket with a 2-3' piece of 1" steel pipe. To install, I jacked up the bottom of the strut and used a pry bar to pop bracket into place. If you don't want to muscle it out and in the way I did, then spend the extra time to disconnect everything. At the end of the day, this is a nice ride improvement over the Rancho strut and spacer puck I had.
You gave absolutely zero good information here, you could explain what needs fixed not just say that needs fixed, well what about the people who don't know, because the people who do know ain't going to watch your video
Video is a life saver. Couldnt get it on for like 2 hours last night. Came across this video this AM and found out the yellow part was just a clip lol. Thank you sir
This just happen to mine today and did everything you described. Luckily it finally gave out in a parking lot of my work. I will be trying this and hope that’s all it is! Thanks you posting that!
Hey buddy I checked the ground under the passenger and cleaned it up and the on the dash with the insulation. Is there anything else I could try ? Still having issues with the cluster flickering and service airbag and and theft alarms constantly poping up.
My 2017 silverado completely shut off when turning right at a light this morning. The steering locked up, no brakes, no electrical, no engine. Thank God nobody was on the road or i would have caused an accident. Sprayed wd40 on the grounds as soon as i parked. Its better already but going to clean them after work. 4-27-24
@@wo1fpack1 yes, i took the grounds off. Cleaned them and the frame down to bare metal. Put dialectric grease on them and primed and repainted them. Has been perfect since
I am having the SAME issue. Changed my calipers, rotors, pads, and I still get hard pull to the right. Did changing that brake hose fix your pull issue??
My 2009 gmc Yukon did the same thing. I put it in neutral and turned key and started back up. I bought a thicker gauge ground wire to battery terminal. Still waiting to see if it does it again. Gmc and chevy suvs known for this. 👎
This should be a recall item GM... About lost it because of loss of steering lol its electric with a shoddy grounding setup. Gonna fix it myself for good but they need to do a recall before this gets someone killed.
i bought the same set of headers no matter what donut gasket i use even with some high temp rtv it leaks at the collector any tips? i’m at my wits end with them
