Not sure if I should get this or not. Been looking at it for a while though. Just a question, does it sound for example like a V8 when you get it up high in the RPM? (best way to describe the sound)
THISisMADDNES Obviously you'll never get the V8 sound from a V6 with just bolt on mods. To get that sound you need to throw some serious money into the engine, larger cams, head work, etc. The intake won't change the exhaust tone noticeably. If you want exhaust note, get headers, high flow cat and a 2.5" (or 3" for deeper/louder but drone like a mofo) cat back. Don't buy this if you want more than the induction sound you can hear in the video. That's basically the only change I've noticed.
DUK33Y Yeah true that. I have pacemaker extractors and a 2.5'' xforce catback with twin tip atm. I'm better off leaving it as is then. Thanks for the prompt reply.
With out a proper tune to compensate for more dense and cooler air flow from time to time this MACE product is going to waste... Although not entirely... I do appreciate the proper install and setup of this product, I just feel with newer commodores especially, as well as personal experience, they are too sensitive to small improvements and with the improvements it could cause HP loss... My suggestion, go to the (forums.justcommodores.com.au/forum.php) and ask about tunes that can be provided to you (at cost, but cheaper than a dyno), for this kind of setup. Good work mate.
The term CAI in this case is just a glorified pod filter. I did get a mail-order tune to suit everything I've got though and noticed a bit more punch and fuel economy.
Don’t the computer self adjust to the new air flow ? I just installed a ss growler on my xr8 and the instructions stated that the car need to run about 500 km to adjust to the new intake.
At the time of filming, Manta 2.5" catback with single muffler - no resi into dual 3" tip. Since then I've added Hurricane 3-1 headers. Video doesn't do exhaust note justice.
OMG I think OLIVER IS DA CUTEST BOI IN DA TENT!! HE LOOKS LIKE HE COULD PLAY GUITAR!!! OMG I TOTES SHIP OLIVER AND JAMES. JOLIVER THUMBS UP IF U AGREE!!
I got him to find the charger for me =P. The following weeks, two of my mates came off their bikes too so I felt less incapable haha. Back on the bike now and my wounds are almost healed =).
You mean you went and got daddy to start it. Just pulling your leg kid, glad to see your doing a lot better and off the crutches in the vid. Two types of rider, this who have crashed and those who haven't. Happens to the best of us
Was wearing all gear apart from leggings and boots. Bike has all new fairings, I cleaned out it's internals while checking for damage as well as getting new oil, filters and spark plugs. No damage mechanically and runs brilliantly now. After reviewing the crash site, I was lucky not to hit a tree or the bike to clip something during the slide and flip. Got away with it very luckily.
You were only going 43.495983 MPH were you wearing hang riding gear? The bike came out as expected but you came out a little worse. Get your trusty steed fixed and either get or wear riding gear.
@alronjr1 Don't dump it too hard cause the camber will be a bitch and kill your tyres so fast. A good set of 19's or 20's look mint on commodores though. Traction control has a button you can use to turn it on and off so no point in having it disabled permanently.
@alronjr1 They can skid so good I slammed into a gutter sideways and caused $7600 worth of damage. Not worth skidding, especially when it's deliberate. However, Buy a VY/VZ because VX interior is rubbish in comparison.
@alronjr1 Exhaust will add maybe 2rwkw if you're lucky. It's only auto too. Manual you could spin it up easy but not so much in auto. Tyres are too expensive to fry up all the time anyway.
@doktawakta3 When you open the door from the outside, look down and it's in the corner. It's a little rubber thing that pushes in when the door is closed. You can get to it's wires by pulling up the plastic along the bottom of the door and pulling the carpet back a bit. It's a ground switch so you'll need to wire it like I said in my previous response. Hope that helps.
