Love the content, I am curious if you are open to exploring other glitches, such as using the 8F item and whatnot. @kevykangoegaming did some of it, however it doesn't get too much into details
I wonder if any kid back in the days of Nintendo Power used this glitch to get their names in that magazine's high score section? Im convinced they all were doing a variation of some exploit to get a high score and then take a photo to send it in. Like the one section of Contra 3 where you can stand to the left and tie a rubber band to the fire button and then kill infinite alien soldiers dropped by the boss
"Mario hits yoshi in the back of the head." I'm sick of people saying he's hitting Yoshi. He's pointing as a way of saying "Go!". Please just say that. Matpat ruined how people saw Mario back then, I swear.
i remember going to that level as a kid and somehow maxing out my lives, but after trying it again as an adult I had no idea how i did it so i just assumed i played that level like crazy but now i know that i probably did smth like that 💀
This is so lovely and brought back a nostalgic feel, and that was amazing you made the web app to allow us to explore the sounds. Thanks for making this and your other videos, I especially enjoyed the Tetris- and Pokémon-related ones ❤
So at the example at the beginning for raster... I just realized it's a vertical scan. Is this an arcade convention or something? Or is the monitor just flipped 90° as suggested by this video and looking up some things. Both possibilities would be interesting since even if you're using a standard video format that has "horizontal" lines being scanned, you still have to either compensate for how the graphics are stored or have the ppu do it for you maybe with how bytes are read? Hm...raster on arcade could be it's own video. And it kinda makes me wonder more about the weird vram addressing in your Pac-Man kill screen video.
I remember activating the wiggler life/score glitch all the time back in the day after just happening upon it the first time during normal gameplay. Nice to finally see what was going on with the glitched text.
