So mine only seems to work like that when 'save' is highlighted. Seems when i turn off the car and turn it back on again it goes back to 'auto' and will not charge the battery it will keep it at 20%. In my case my soc is 70% and when in auto the car keeps the battery at 20% in 'auto' if i hit the 'save' button it will charge the car as i drive, but i have to press 'save' every time i start the car. Does anyone else experience this?
@music1981ify yes I've found it will completely ignore the percentage set when in "auto". If you want the car to start up again in "save" mode go to settings>vehicle settings>intelligent memory and turn SAVE Mode Memory on. Note this will only start the car up in save mode if you were also in save mode when you turned the car off.
@@Jeremy-di4ye I took one for a test drive the battery was at 30% I increased the soc save to 50% to force It to charge the battery. I got around 11 l/100
@ram00sa00 I guess it depends how far below you are and how hard the engine has to work to bring it up to the save percentage. If you use EV to a certain percentage then ask the car to maintain that percentage you'll get 5-6l/100km.
@ram00sa00 yeah I can't say I've ever driven mine that way. I'm not sure why you'd want the petrol to add charge to the battery in day-to-day driving, except perhaps on a freeway run where you want to increase the SOC in preparation for some city driving. But again, I just drive on EV until I get down to the SOC I want to keep, then use petrol to maintain it.
Thanks for your great videos! Very helpful and much needed for us Aussies. However with this one, how would it automatically know that car is on the highway or town?
It doesn't - you have to change it to take advantage of wanting to preserve battery for town driving. If I'm doing a town-highway-town circuit I will set a SOC around 35% and choose "SAVE". Once I'm on the highway I switch to HEV mode and the car will keep using battery until it gets to 35%, at which point it'll use the petrol more to maintain the battery charge. Once I get back to town I switch back to EV mode and the car goes back to battery drive only. I've found leaving SOC in AUTO just lets the car do it's own thing, no matter what the % is set to.
Thx man, just ordered mine. Can’t wait. We need to get the 3 finger thing to the car testers. Those RU-vidrs are all moaning about getting the the air conditioning settings. Also. I’m about to upgrade my phone. Which works best. Apple or android? I mean in pairing with the Cars infotainment system? Thanks DF
We're all Android so I can vouch for that. There's a good Sealion 6 Facebook group - well worth joining that and asking there. facebook.com/share/g/fKGnszgfGK7BePiB/
If you set a SOC percentage and hit SAVE but run in EV mode it will ignore the SOC percentage you've set. This menu is only relevant when running in HEV mode.
If I skip charging the car for about a month (say for example I took my car for a road trip in a country where there is no EV charge infrastructure), can I manage with a petrol only ? Will the batteries ever get depleted ? And if depleted, how does it drive? Is there a max speed limit ?
The car will let the battery drain down to 25%, then the petrol engine maintains the battery at 25%. You don't feel any change in performance. You can force the battery to go lower - to 15% or thereabouts - but you'll feel a drop in performance then. Provided you keep fuel in the car you could never recharge and just let the petrol engine maintain 25% battery and drive normally for years!
Yes you can - it's called "dark mode" and changes the instrument panel and the infotainment screen. I have mine set to auto to change at night, but you can preset it too.
@@obyrnej8z yeah I think there's a situation where that can happen but can't say I've registered when it is. Dark Mode definitely switches both though facebook.com/groups/304398036094646/permalink/317282264806223/
hey mate, have you see any graphics pop on the black piano panel left of the ipad? I see some commentary that European Seal U displays graphics when playing music. But I haven't seen anything like that yet in the sealion. I wasn't sure if it was a fault with my car or if that feature isn't available in the aussie cars.
@andifebr no the camera itself is not installed but the cabling is. You can purchase an OEM camera for around $100 and installation takes about 10 minutes. There are some videos on RU-vid showing how to install the OEM camera in a Seal - the Sealion 6 is the same.
