While I’ve always been on the side of feeling like this movie is over hated, I’ll always dislike this scene. This actress never deserved the hate she got but damn I really dislike Rose as a character. Every time I see this scene I get her sentiments but I’m still like “wtf are you even talking about?”. This move was just so selfish. And yes, selfishness in itself is human and doesn’t make the character a bad person but in this context I was like “you just damn well doomed everyone because you weren’t willing to accept sacrifice”. They were nothing but lucky to have Rey show up when she did.
I don't know why people hate this scene, certainly no worse than the "token black guy dies a heroic death" trope. She valued her love for Finn more than the resistance. Certainly not the worst scene in this dumpster of a movie.
Rey looks like an absolute goddess compared to Rose. Feel bad for the actress. The Last Jedi makes The Rise Of Skywalker look as good as Return Of The Jedi.
This scene is amazing. It fucking amazes me. 1. Finn is implied to actually sacrifice himself by the music and camera, but plot-armor style ends up surviving it. Typical fakeout element. Like, how did Rose even catch up to him? 2. Rose saves him by full speed crashing into him, leaving both ships completely destroyed. How is this her idea of saving? No way they survive this. 3. They survive this. 4. „Saving what we love, not fighting what we hate“ breh you just prevented him from doing exactly that and now the whole fucking resistance base is blown up in the background 5. She kisses him. ????????. Is this supposed to be a romantic moment with the ashes of your friends in the background, or…? 6. Oh ok now she randomly dies. Ridiculous. She just doomed the whole resistance, how am I supposed to feel sadness here? 7. How is Finn supposed to get them out of there now? They’re on an open field facing like the whole first order 8. Oop no, another fakeout, Rose is fine in the next movie. This scene is amazing.
Truly a 10/10 scene, but for me personally, my favorite part is the "saving what we love" line with the base immediately getting blown up right after. I'm actaully amazed that it made it into the final film like that and every time I do watch it I literally am on the floor dying of laughter, it's comedy gold! 😂
Can’t stand this character. Have tried rewatching TLJ a few times and every time she makes her first appearance Im out and switch off. Its an appalling film anyway, but she …. Urgh. Just eff off.
Also not a single broken bone from such a high speed, catastrophic crash. Just a few bloody scratches and a concussion. At least Kylo’s crash in 9 can be chalked up to him using the force as a shield.
I thought the movie was lackluster and stupid to a degree, it had its moments sure but the SJW bullcrap tainted the whole movie…and I forgive it for doing so. However, the thing that made me fucking LOSE it was taking away Finn's moment of Character development, he had finally conquered his fear of the first order and was fully committed to help the rebels even if he had to sacrifice himself to give them a chance, he almost had his way…he almost destroyed the siege cannon that was about to fire, mostly likely causing it to malfunction and destroy a few walkers with it (probably even damaging Kylo's shuttle as one last fuck you to Kylo)…and Rose Tico took that away from him…FUCKING ROSE TICO, THE STUPID, FAT, WANNABE SELF INSERT SJW CHECKLIST MODEL took it ALL away (Keep in mind that I have nothing against the actor itself…just Disney's portrayal). Finn had to suffer through his indoctrination, suffer through his enlistment, suffer through the pain, torment and humiliation of being around Ma-Rey Sue and suffer from his own cowardice. When he was given a chance to help the Rebels escape with a stupid and contraloded plan, he went with it. When he was given a chance to redeem himself and get over his fear, he took it and killed Phasma. When he was finally given the chance to potentially have to give himself up for the greater good if it meant it would save his comrades in arms: HE FUCKING COMMITED…and he was punished for it, punished for having the GALL to be Human, to represent all its good it could offer, to be brave in the face of death and be the shield for the Rebels so they not suffer. “This is how we fight them, not with hate…but with love.” Yeah you stupid bitch, all those hundred of dead comrades and 12 survivors that are left are DEFINITELY feeling the love right now. Not only that she had the fucking nerve to kiss him (WITHOUT HIS CONSENT) before dying. She left Finn scarred for fucking life. If she loved THAT much she should of taken the blow for him, she must of been in front of him at the time considering that she came in DIRECTLY FROM THE SIDE, instead of crashing into him she could of simply of sideswiped him out of the line of fire and save him while giving him some final encouraging words to justify to him that he is still needed amongst his friends, it would have still been stupid BUT IT STILL WOULD HAVE MADE SENSE. Conclusion: Disney ruined Finn's character arc and development with their stupid self insert SJW bullshit. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Finn was finally going to get his moment and not just be the guy who screams “REEEEEEEEEY” all the time, but Rose let her selfish impulses basically doom them all in that moment. Never understood that scene and I hate it for existing.
And people think that it's because of racism that no one wanted to buy the Rose Tico figures...when she talks down to the Black lead (who was basically enslaved) about oppression for most of the movie. And talks about saving what they love. When he was about to do that!
She ruined what could have been one of the redeeming moments of the sequel trilogy Finns sacrifice could have been an impactful moment And then Rose had to f it up
Imagine this scene from the perspective of the First Order. They must be genuinely confused as to why a Resistance pilot suddenly decided to kamakazee, murder-suicide crash into another pilot.
Leia: "Rose Tico, for the charges of deserting your post, forsaking a critical mission to free space horses, and putting your own delusional romance ahead of the safety of like ... the ENTIRE RESISTANCE, we sentence you to death by air-lock to be carried out on screen and in a manner that leaves no reasonable expectation of resurrection."
