i did the same with the Epiphone Casino. The made in the USA showed me how poor the Chinese ones were, I have kept it as back up, but will end up selling it.
groovy playing Dirk i got a 2024 Alpine Epi LP custom as close as u can get to the $5k model if feels luxurious , after 2 months of playing it . i used it on a new song by rap group Funkdoobiest . the fit and finish is outstanding. Epiphone /Gibson, excellent job Les Paul would be proud
Hello, Who famous played a 1969 Gibson J-160e? I like the 1969 better after watching your video - I had no the shape changed after 1964 which was something Gibson didn't like.
Definitely the Gibson..one thing about quality guitars, is when you actually pick up anything lesser again , it becomes apparent just what the extra bucks are for.
Epiphone please make a j200 Parlor no cut away with the correct bridge and Dark Fingerboard even if you use Richlite , . I would buy two, a Sunburst & Natural ,
Looks like epi scraped the binding on the top better so you can see it from the front more, it looks thicker like a real Gibson I'm saying. Is this true?
I was about to say, doesn't sound anything like the one in my local authorized store. Too much string buzz so likely the action has been lowered too much or the strings have been changed to extra light gauge. Something's going on anyway. But a great guitar if set up correctly.
The Eastman T284MX IS a Hollow, Not Semi, It only has what they call a "Tone Block" under the bridge (between back and front), And does Not run full length by any means.
Minus the wood species , paint used, and glue and the individual that made it it's the same platform/concept. It has the pickups and hardware and honestly the last two comparisons I found myself preferring the Epiphone. It will be mine oh yes it will be mine. Has the woman tone in sunshine of your love
Next week I am going to buy a new car but before I collect it I will insist they give it a good going over with coarse sandpaper and a stiff wire brush.
Hy guy, nice presentation and comparison!... 👍 I personally have several Eastman guitars, including an E!OM, which I am very proud of... From your video one gets the impression of a brighter and more present sound on the highs in the Deluxe, even if, in my opinion, the Regular maintains more incisive bass and a nice woody tone!
I have one E1ss-sb. For the price I paid, 550€ new, it is a fine instrument. A much better deal than the 3x more expensive E10SS or nearly 4x more expensive E20SS imho. But NONE of them sound the least similar to J45 Standard. These Eastman models are ok if you accept they may resemble the original to a certain degree and you accept the sound they have for a price that is not cheap. However if sound and built matter to you more than looks, you will need to get yourself the real thing for 3.000€.
Thanks for including some harmonics in your sample. Big-body guitars are superb when they have bass-string 'fret growls' and strumming with huge bass tones, and you don't offer much of those. Need an example of a well-recorded bass-growl? TELL ME WHY from Neil Young's AFTER THE GOLD RUSH album.
Both sounds pretty damn nice. Comes down to playability mostly and player's preference. I've owned many Epi's and Gibson's over the last 30 years, and I've sold every Epi I've gotten even after upgrades. There will always be players who cannot justify the price of a Gibson and tell you an Epi is just as good after upgrades to pick ups, wiring and some of the hardware. Then there are players who say there is absolutely no comparison when it comes to the 2. Gibson for the win!
I'm sick and tired of all the RU-vid guitar snobs desperately trying to criticise the less expensive guitars in a passive aggressive way. These people are so threatened by the thought of ordinary people having access to anything that is of the same quality of what they themselves own that they end up having a massive meltdown.😂 These rich elitists are pathetic. Most of them know that the "cheaper" guitars are the better deal but they can never let all of us "plebs" know that. By the way, I've owned 3 Gibson guitars and I still own 2 of them. I own a Gibson les paul standard 50s and a Gibson SG standard. I also own plenty of Epiphones. There isn't a lot of differences between the Epiphone versions compared to their Gibson counterparts.
I’ve just watched the review and can’t see any evidence of him criticising the epiphone in a passive aggressive way ? I thought it was a fair and detailed review of both guitars to be fair
