What's hurting USA national football team is being in the weakest conference of the world... Either the conference as a whole rises its level or ALL of its teams will always be 2 to 3 steps behind. Now, the fact that soccer is becoming very popular in the US does help its future prospects as for the players it can develop but as for the league itself, it still needs a couple more gears to be top level soccer.
Good decision to move a few on after going up. The transfer policy of buying quality players aged 30+ will hurt them in a season or two but it's a production line. 2 or 3 first team players will go every year - the signings that come in will be the difference
As an Aston Villa fan 40+ yearss, Im actually pleased Birmingham will get some much needed attention and limelight on both sides of the pond, and in the documentary playing Wrexham twice next season with so mich American owner imvolvement! With Villa back in Champs League, its a very exciting tome for my home City of Birmingham on both sides of the Villa - Birmingham City divide! I hope and expect the documentary to a dive into Birmingham City as they did with Notts County. I think it really adds to the docu series and helps American n overseas fans to understand all the history behind each club featured and the fascinating football stories! Birmingham beat Arsenal 2-1 in the Keague Cup final just a few years ago! Crazy times of ups and downs for so many clubs! 😮
Its a funny Football World, Phil could have done a better job Managing Aston Villa in Premier than Steven Gerrard did! Yet Prem Clubs always tend to look at the most famous big managers first!? 5 Promotions from very tough leagues! Whose to say that is not even harder a feat than Unai Emery winning 4 Europa Leagues! 🤔
I would have Frank back. And Silva. Even Bob Martin. Trust me, Dyche and his negativity will put us in the relegation zone within a month of the new season. Young, Seamus (sadly), Doucoure, Dele, Gueye.....do you REALLY trust those players to give us any progress under such a crap "dont lose, keep it tight" manager?? We are doomed. And Dyche has treated Patterson like a piece of shit
"Just a genuinly good man to his bones" - yes, that's what you are too, Mister John Oliver. Änd zis is frrrom a Germän. Thank you so much for this video. There is not one, but there are two very normal, Special 1s out there...
Kobe's comments on Steph. "There's a serious calm. That's dangerous". Abridged af. But, we need a calm assassin. And, speaking of, Kobe was a Milan fan. Just saying Tyler is a good guy no doubt
If we go 3-and-out that will mean that Gregg Berhalter will have coached our most talented-ever generation of players through 74 games. Of those a whopping 53 will have been home games in the USA. Of the other 21, eight were at neutral sites (e.g., World Cup) so -- and this is almost unbelievable --- in his entire tenure, Gregg Berhalter has coached only 13 authentic away games. Arena, Bradley, Klinsmann were consistently serious about finding the toughest opposition, the greatest challenge. Gregg Berhalter is the precise opposite, and it shows in the feeble expectations and ambitions of his players. #soft
Disappointed by Adams rhetoric/comments at the end for expectations that this is just another experience leading up to 2026, similar comments made the other day by Haji/Aaronson. This team should try and make it to the Semi's like we did in 2016. Regardless of the opponent we should always play fearless. I dislike this talk about the team being *young* or *inexperienced*! They're Ready! They play amongst these guys in Top 10 leagues in the world. Believe you can win and you can! Past managers like Bradley and Klinsmann have gotten big wins against Top 10 nations, can Gregg? Not if he's setting the players expectations low
I think that’s what separates this from old players like Landon, Clint, Bradley, Jones etc. They had a different mindset. Sure these guys might be more talented, but Jones would eat these guys up mentally.
I love Tyler’s hunger and work ethic….but… Johnny Cardoso is more talented and deserves minutes. Significant minutes. Tyler isn’t entitled to the DM spot. He doesn’t own it. And I’d hate to believe our coach hands out starting spots to his favorites.
Our coaching staff already guaranteed starting spots to several dual-nationals like Folarin Balogun. Johnny Cardoso is slow & doesn't provide the same running & intensity that unsettles the opponent. Johnny Cardoso can't match Adams' defensive coverage and skill. Plus, he's an 8. He plays as 8 with Marc Roca at Real Betis.
Rumor has it that Marsch was hired by USSF but "the players" stepped in to insist on Berhalter's return. That would have been Pulisic, Adams, McKennie. So Berhalter is employed at their pleasure rather than the other way 'round and that is why, for example, Adams is already (on the 2nd day of camp) guaranteed to play over Cardoso despite missing the entire season. The system is corrupt and the team is soft. The players are talented but the institution itself is not a meritocracy and it shows on the field.
I love Tyler Adams, but saying the Copa is just a stepping stone is so disrespectful to the tournament. This is a major tournament that we should be privileged to be a part of
Oldest international cup on the planet. Maradona didn't manage to get one. Every other team will be killing to get their hands on the cup. Coming in with that attitude, they'll be humbled sooner rather than later.
First class interview skills and what a refreshing focus on substantive and meaningful topics. Tyler is an endlessly impressive man. So glad he’s our Captain.
So playing with your 3rd and 4th CBs (1came from academy and other is on a free) and for the 95% of the season only having their 2nd & 3rd choice Gk and still only losing just 2 games in a season is not anything tactical but luck? Meanwhile City and PSG buy whole backline in most transfer window while winning their leagues for yrs in a row whilst being investigated for financial charges is good for football just because they play a certain way? Also don't get into the manutd and barcelona paying players like exorbitant salaries without any plan just for them to stay in the club without anyone paying them enough to buy.
EPL pundits & fans are notorious for intentionally ignoring competitions where their teams fail to perform. Compare the commentary and reactions when say City or Liverpool won against their response when other teams outcompete them.
