I have a 98 Ranger that my son and I are about to attempt to do a 5.0 Swap from a doner 96 Full Time AWD Ford Explorer. We have to convert the transmission tail to RWD because our 98 Ranger has coil springs up front. From what I’ve read on the forums to do AWD the ranger needs be an Edge model or 4x4 model because both have strait frame rails up front just like the Explorer torsion instead of coil springs. I’d love to borrow your truck to have a truck next to mine while we swap the 5.0 into ours to save time and money in trying to figure out how to wire everything to work. So far on my little 98 Ranger I’ve swapped out the bed for a good condition StepSide, did all the body work from hail damage and dents over time, painted it Oxford White which the truck from the factory was white. I just installed Nitto 555G2 285/40R18x9.5 with +20 offset on all 4’s plus a full size spare. Next few weeks I’m installing a 4 link coil over rear suspension, with our doner explorers 8.8 rear end to add rear disc brakes to our Ranger and upper and lower 2” drop DJM A-Arms with the camber adjustment kit. I’m dropping off the doner 96 Explorers Transmission to get a Stage 2 kit installed on it and convert it to RWD. Then I got to pull the 5.0 strip it down and get the the motor built built with all new bottom and top end balanced and blue printed ported and polished to make around 400hp naturally aspirated daily driver… I want the truck to look 100% factory under the hood, everything working, no sensor issues, and perfectly cools a/c for the TX heat we live in…
I bought a used maxima last year in the year 2023, i bought a 2009 maxima 3k cash and its only been ups and down. If i remember correctly i had to replace the alternator,radiator, thermostat, battery, and other parts. The biggest expense so far has been the motor. Luckily i have a brother who’s a mechanic and does the labor for free lol. After the motor swap (which was swapped in march of this year) it has been reliable as hell. I will say it’s a gas hogger in the city, but in the highway, she’s good in mpg.

Used to have one of these dudes. They get down a bit with a nice engine. Always wanted to awd it with an Explorer I had. Days passed lol. Sux that it doesn't have some aluminum heads on it. Don't need a 347 just spend money on good heads and a mean camshaft. I'll build some for ya and custom spec you a cam. EVERYONE would be jelly
@@boosted9319 well if money doesn't matter then sure. Always get cubes. But if turbos are involved it doesn't need anything but a small, good camshaft. Boost makes everything easy as pie. Plenty more heads than AFR that's for sure. Good materials but there are a few others that are better out the box.
