Thanks for checking my vids out. I enjoy producing and uploading them. As you can see I love cars and moto's. Im a passionate motorcycle rider, Massive VW enthusiast and just love the outdoors.
Of all the U tube enduro riders I watch you maybe one of two that can give an honest opinion on the 700cc Maico enduro motorcycle? I would love to have one but, I’m in the USA and are not just at every bike shop. As a kid racing motocross in the late 80- 1990s the Maico was something special. What are your thoughts if any on riding this bike if parts were not a problem up in the boonies ect?
Hey! Thinking of getting a dr650 for big adventures.. either that or a trail 125😂 About the carb, have you heard of (Smartcarb SC2) it has no needle, and also you don't jet it and it has no elevation problem.. As well as more power and fuel efficiency.. Would like to hear your thoughts if you look at them.. there is a yt video a guy did on one (The best carb money can buy? | Smart carb SC2) 🙂
duuude sick build! where in australia are you from? the accent is soo mild from an american perspective. If you were british id think you came from central London rather than Cockney. I ride a 701 supermoto. Love supermotos i take mine on hard enduro all the time :) need a bigger gas tank tho xD
@@Merc399 South Australia mate. Adelaide to be precise. Yeah our accent is a bit different from the eastern states. I will ride the USA in 2027 if all goes to plan 🤙
Stu, great content as always. Question on your tool tube: I've made a PVC one similar to yours and would like to try and add the smaller PVC "shelf" you have. How do you fashion the round wood ends? Do you just get some cheap wood and cut and size to fit? It looks like you screwed them in, right? Cheers from USA, mate. -Sean
@@ADVRiderAustralia thanks! what size PVC do you use for the inner storage shelf? If my tool tube is 3in, I've only seen the next size smaller in a 2in..and I'm not sure if that'd be too small to even bother. Cheers, Sean
@@seansterr7236 use the 3" but make 2 & 3/4 inch end caps for it then cut a piece out of the 3" where you lay your tools in. Then screw & Glue the PVC to the wooden end caps. Hope that makes sense???
Hoping that my wife and I could ride two up on a DR-650 that I had bought but the pass. peg s were located so high it jammed up her legs in a miserable possition. She is in great shape and can ride all day on our plated IT-490 with the pass. pegs I designed and mounted in a more sensible location. Tired of always modifying stuff so we sold the DR.
Damn, mate. If one shows up, you’re going to go to war against a camel with just your knife? Proof that having something at hand is more comforting than useful 😂. I’d do the same. I applaud you for your brass balls! Great video! Loved it!

It's time in the sun will shine soon bro. Funds needed to get to the next level have not made themselves available just yet but very soon witH some luck so 🤞
Really enjoyed the vlog. I've taken my daughter on a few short two ups on the DR and she loves it. Was always a bit concerned that two up on a DR might not be legal as rego says Suzuki solo. Is it ok? I really want to do more trips with her.
Cheers for the comments and absolutely go riding with your daughter!!! The whole reason DR650s can't be imported to Aus anymore is because they are legal for a pillion but don't have ABS. This is why you can still get a new DRZ but not a DR650 because DRZ400s don't have pillion pegs. Cheers. Stu
Thanks Stu. There will be lots of adventures and memories made for us. We trailered the bike to the Flinders last spring and had a ball. Grampians is on the bucket list
Well done Stu. I did chinamans and some of carters recently on my dr650 but there is no way I would do it loaded and 2up! May have to give carters another go. The track on the other side of the lake is also good.
Thanks mate! Carter's definitely too tough 2up for sure but as I'd never done it I wanted to have a look anyway. The track on the other side winds its way next to a creek from memory and is a fair bit sandier? Im pretty sure I've explored there in the past. Awesome riding!
I rode a yamaha XT500 and Suzuki GS750 in Oz in 1987. Great bikes. I now have a DR650. Great bikes apart from 3rd gear pinion and nsu bolts. Its worth sorting out stuff like cam chain tensioner too.
My 4th gear went at about 90k not 3rd. Cam chain and tensioner were perfect and nsu was tight so no issues there. Stock clutch plates were great, next to no wear on bore or piston. Just ride it bro 😎
Was an epic trip, Thanks to Stu and Leona for the whole event, Islam Sam for fixing my 2 flat tyres! Food was awesome as usual, was nice to have wind to help blow the dust away. Look forward to catching up for a ride sometime soon Martin!
Cheers brother, yeah when you build a bike for yourself with your own cash and no sponsorship or anything, its easy to remember most of it. Love XR's mate. I have a CRF 450X but ridden plenty of 650r & 400s over the years. Thanks for the comment mate.
I'm keen as mustard to join one of your rides Stu, was planning to join the hard rock enduro, but have a conflict - devastated. But when we can align i'll be hopping on board! Keep going mate, you're the main dude in SA keeping regular events happening.
Only a heart attack bro 🫣 They whacked a stent in and I was feeling strong AF. I got back on the enduro bike for a couple of rides and was killing it. But was punching the whoops a bit hard and have snapped either my achilles or something up high in my calf. Waiting for a scan Wednesday. But I will be back.✊️
Dude, that's bad news! We are always looking for recovery drivers if you're keen to get to the Flinders or The High Country and can still drive. Get in touch if you're keen man.
I'm definitely keen to get onboard with some of your rides mate. I've had some health issues this year, but it will happen some time soon. Keep up the good work bro 🍻🍻
Hey bud, I always enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your efforts to share your mighty adventures across our great land, keep up the great work. This latest upload couldn't come at a better time I'm currently riding a Rhino AKA Bwm R1200 GSA and find myself spending more and more time in the Vic high country and recently been caught out a few times on the big girl and now have been looking at downsizing to a DR or DRZ but I'm a torn on which direction to go, your video is making lean more towards the Dr. Thanks for share, Safe riding and I'll see you out on the tracks someday.
I love the GSA in the Flinders but yeah wrestling one through th High Country sounds like hard work. Both a DRZ or a DR are perfect for most conditions mate. Go a DRZ if your staying in your state and a DR650 if you plan to go remote interstate I reckon. Cheers for the kind words Brother 👊
nice Dr Stu , very well set up , im a pig lover myself , they are perfect for the Ozzy adv riding and like you say in the vid basic as hell and easy to fix , would love to know more details on the rear wheel swap and the front fork swap , have you any vids on these mods ? Also side note , how do you find that tank bag? I have the same tank and feel that a tank bag sits in a strange position , Anyway , cool bike man , ive had a Quick Look on your website too looks awesome , Any plans of doing any in WA?
Tank Bag...annoying but a necessary evil. I know exactly what you mean. The position stops you from getting right up forward but they are just so convenient. I had the forks done by a shop so no vids there sorry but would definitely do them myself next time. Rear Shock replacement I did a vid on. Rear wheel is off a DR350 and you just use the disk off the DR650 with flat, tapered bolts. Hope that helps mate 👍
@@ADVRiderAustralia awesome thanks Stu , been binge watching your vids that past few nights , awesome work my man , your a 1000 times better rider than I am but we are equal in the love and enjoyment of riding keep them coming 🤜✊
