Wow so clean and a great colour too. I had multiple mk2s many years ago from a 1.3 through to an 8v GTI. Absolutely loved them. Unfortunately this is the unexpected consequence that non car people dont realise when making these enviro laws. If the owners of these old cars aren't knowledgeable. They end up as scrap. It's just so wasteful theres clearly plenty of life left in the cars. Congrats on saving it and all credit to the previous owner for caring for it so well. I guess the question is will anyone be saving a first edition id3 or non GTI mk8 golf in 40 years? . I'm not so sure.
Hey when are you guys gonna bring more HELLA parts for vw beetle and other parts that are out of stock i need them for my vw Thanks Great video by the way
Thanks for your comments - we are constantly expanding our range, and we're as keen as you are to include parts from OE brands such as Hella in this growth. It's not quite as simple as asking them to make more; many of these parts have been out of production for years and whilst there is demand from the classic sector, it may not be worth their while to invest in the tooling to make the parts when the numbers are significantly smaller than a similar part for modern cars.
I'm at 8 mins or so in - enjoying the video but the background sound v's mike sound is a bit kack. Sounds like compressor airguns, crow's or magpies? Car is quality though 👍
Thanks for your feedback - our workshop is in the corner of our warehouse, where we send upwards of 1000 parcels a day. Sadly, we do have to accept that there will be packing sounds, such as tape guns and pallet wrap being used - the bird noises, well we are also less than half a mile from the sea, so there are Seagulls everywhere!! Glad you like the car, and we will do our best to suppress these noises, or film during quieter periods.
@@driveheritage Cheers - maybe better mics with that fluffy stuff on them to drown out background noise? I'm no expert on this btw ha ha. Or maybe mess about with where you wear the mics possibly? And yea it is a nice Mk2 - I have a white small bumper GTI with a rear silencer on it from yourselves from back when you were VW heritage I think?
@@Geckatron Yeah all good things for us to try. The big thing for anyone making content is just starting... Now we have started, we can start to finesse the quality and experiment with regards to the type of content that our audience are interested in watching. Appreciate your feedback. And the GTI silencer - the stainless steel one perhaps?
Really good episode and thank you for giving us the opportunity to work our magic and preserve this. Lovely car. Looking forward to seeing some more on that Jetta at the end 😉👍
Thanks guys, great to work with you again on this, and sure it won't be the last time... The Jetta needs some attention, but we plan to drag it out of the naughty corner for a check-over soon!!
Hello I just got my package delivered but the only problem I had is I order two of the front turn signal assembly with amber lens and seal but I only receive one of them so I wanted to know what's gonna happen thank you and i have ready email you guys but you guys dont responde
We'll get one of our team on the case right away for you - you should hear from them today. **Update - Nick from our Customer Services team has sent two emails in the past 24 hours - maybe they have gone into your spam or junk folder? There is a replacement part on its way, our apologies for this inconvenience**
A driveway designed with motorbike owners in mind!! We're glad he drove it out not us... He couldn't buy a VW UP! to replace the Golf as it was too wide!!
I like the OEM fit of the front bar. Rear bar seems to loose a bit of ground clearance with end mount style. Would love to see adjustments for the rear bar like Weltmeister used to have on their 911 bars
Glad to be working with such a good bunch of people from Heritage👍 So yes, we not only finished the beach buggy but took care of the Mk2 golf which you can see over on our RU-vid channel. 👍
Certainly is... Goes like a rocket! Looks amazing too. A real credit to Kaz and his team - check out his channel, and our June Heretics video to see it finished.
VW Type 34 Karmann Ghia - Often called a Razor Edge Karmann Ghia. Made between 1962-69 they have a gathered kudos in recent years, but rust for fun, and restorations can be costly. They look stunning though - especially this example.
So the old Gent asked you to save his lovely old Golf and entrusted it to you, his absolute pride and joy, and you basically went right around the car and took the absolute piss out of it and laughed your heads off on this video, which he will no doubt watch! Great job lads!!!
This wasn't intentional, and sorry that you have received the video that way. Sure, there are some quirks to this car and the reasons behind many of them, and these do raise a smile when you think about them. We have sent the video to his family, and they have watched it with him (he doesn't use the internet himself) and he was pleased to see his car again (we are working on a plan to reunite them again.) Many cars of this age have things which no longer work properly. We intend to iron out those creases and make it as good as it can be once again, without going into the realms of a full restoration.
I’m the previous owners granddaughter and I can honestly say I had the best childhood in this car! Grandad always says “If you look after your car, it will look after you”. Thank you so much for looking after his Golf! 🥰
That’s amazing, we were super happy to be part of the preservation of the car, we could see it has been looked after so well by him. 🙏 You’re right it’s about the memories made and this little cars story is far from over.
@@barlow2299 To clarify we bought the car, it wasn't a gift, and we paid more than Mr Bendon asked for, matching the Scrappage Scheme amount of £2000 so he wasn't out of pocket. We have probably spent the same amount again servicing and repairing the car for its MOT. We don't intend to try and flip this for a profit... We genuinely wanted to help save the car and keep it on the road.
Haha!! Depending on what you have carried in it, or how bad the door membranes are and how damp the carpets might be... 😂 We've smelt some real stinkers!
What a great story! Really glad this one was saved, generally any vehicle owned by someone of more advanced years is well cared for. My late uncle had an old Passat station wagon- always garaged and covered by an old sheet- also dried off if it was wet!
Sadly not everyone these days does look after their possessions. We are far more 'throw-away' in our culture. Aside from a few creature comforts - Air Con, electric windows and Sat Nav, this car will do pretty much the same as any modern vehicle, without the huge price tag, massive depreciation or carbon footprint...Thanks for watching, stay tuned for more with the Golf.
I had a mk2 1.3 rider similar colour on a h reg solid body was 13 years old when I got it in 2003 sold it for 150 in Feb 06 as it failed due to emissions the carb and top end valve etc worn out.😊
Mr Bendon didn't want to scrap it, but that was the most financially rewarding option for him... The Mayor of London would give him £2000 to scrap it. In fact, he offered to sell the car to us for less... We refused and equalled this offering, so he didn't lose out by doing what we all consider to be the right thing, and keeping the car alive.
@@stephenhargreaves381 that’s awesome. It’s great that Heritage supply so many parts to keep cars like this alive. 👌 We will also be jumping back onto our Mk1 Golf Gti project very soon.
Thanks! It was like a trip back in time, pretty much buying it from a description over the phone, and a couple of Whatsapp pics from Mr Bendon's Son-in-Law. Fortunately, there weren't too many nasty surprises.
My favourite era of the Golf. I've owned Mk 5, 6 and 7, currently driving an ID.3 and soon might be switching to an ID.4. I love the stance of the Mk 2 though.
The Mk2 is a great all-round classic. Close enough in style to the iconic Mk1, but a little more refined and useable, and will cope with modern traffic and daily duties if you so wish. Get that EV chopped in for a classic! You know it makes sense.... 😆
@@driveheritage Yeah I much prefer the shape of the Mk 2, a bit more square on the corners. I can't go back to an ICE from an EV now, they are just too nice to drive! 🤣 Don't get me wrong, I'd love a nice Mk2 as a side car but for a daily driver the EV is staying.
I’m looking to install a pair of dual piston g60 calipers on my (4 lug tdi) b4 Passat. Have the calipers but finding brackets seems impossible. Do you make an adapter that allows b4/mk3 to run g60’s?
We stock a Mk1 Golf adapter but sounds like you will need a custom piece made up if they aren't a straight forward fit. www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/wc698100-brake-caliper-conversion-brackets-for-g60-brakes.html
World of pain dealing with these jokers ...ordered an exhaust for a t4 turned up damaged ive sent nearly 40 emails plus tryed calling them to get no response was going to order alot of parts from these people but the first and last time I will ever use this company for anything AVOID AT ALL COST cowboys.
