Traumatic Brain Injury affects 2.8 million Americans a year. These are people just like you and me, whose lives are unexpectedly turned upside down in a second. They are often undiagnosed, misunderstood, lost and alone. This channel puts an end to that. Sustaining a mild Traumatic Brain Injury in 2010 has turned my life upside down. Since then, I have collected the resources, information, expert interviews, strategies for living with traumatic brain injury symptoms, and ways to increase brain function for everyone. It is time we understood brain injury, concussion, and post-concussive syndrome, and mTBI. It is time we raise awareness for the millions of people living with invisible disabilities.

Rear ended by a 18 yr old in accident traffic. Hit so hard, OV black engine pan cracked in half. It was left hanging down with coolant leaking out on both sides of undercarriage, the front quarter panel puckered in; we were dead stopped and me, well, I was the driver seated, stopped in midst of four lanes of stopped accident traffic, seated up in a Tahoe with high raised seat with my head turned 90' to the right side, speaking to my husband when we got whip head catapult blasted. ..... TBI now almost six years ago. Treatment has been a virtual wasteland of piece meal care. Neuro for TBI, ENT for vestibular injury and Ortho for my herniated discs at C5.C6, T2, T3, nerve block doctors (5). I want to say thank you G*d for escaping paraplegia and for this I am forever grateful. But the treatment has been pieced together and never coordinated. Surprise. An invisible injury with poor care. There is no handbook for us TBI survivors. Piece meal care at best. The knowledge value of this TBI survivor's video is immense. Immediate to rest is to be stressed. IMMEDIATELY. Not in 10 minutes; NOW. This area of suffering has been super stressful. Brain fatigue is just like unraveling. That' s all I can say. Unraveling. Scary stuff. Being mindful of fatigue was never discussed to me or my husband- who is my caretaker now essentially, ever. Being mindful of my batteries has made me a bit more confident and given me control so I do not get stranded, anymore. Avoiding turning into a Silver Alert is huge. HUGE. HUGE... so it's a big Thank you for this video and I am going to watch everyone as well starting tomorrow. THANK YOU X 10000000!

TBI survivor. Thank you so much for your videos. After my TBI my art has been EXTREMELY colorful. I've been kind of obsessed. I have the ability to change LED lights colors in my garage / studio. It's absolutely incredible how strongly it affects me. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

I had to start over but it was from an induced coma due to alcohol withdrawal. So a few weeks after emerging my mind came back as my body had atrophied. So I was fully aware of my situation. It was traumatic indeed. Not being able to feed, dress or toilet myself became very frustrating. Unfortunately it was the staff of the nursing facility who got the brunt of my frustration. They were so very patient and kind, I will always be grateful to them even almost 15 years later

I work as a supervisor in a warehouse on the second shift. I have been diagnosed with insomnia / sleep apnea. By Thursday or Friday, I am wiped out. I live by myself, so on the weekend, I clean the house mow the grass. I dread Mondays to where it starts all over again. I need to find a different job, but I didn't have the energy because of fatigued all the time.

That's interesting to know that vision takes up a lot of processing power. It kind of explains when I'm fatigued and in a busy environment I get 'startled' alot from things that are happening around me, particularly when gazing around. Things just seem they come out of nowhere and it kind of spooks me.

This is a great explanation not only for the TBI/concussion community but also for those living with other chronic conditions like ME/CFS, CCI, Atlantoaxial instability, and MS. While recovery strategies may differ, understanding how to navigate pacing and prevent crashing, as well as post-crash care, is essential. Thanks for making this video.

I was tboned in nov 2021, I was a high functioning multi tasking person now I struggle still to this day and everyday at around 2 or 2:30 pm I am mentally exhausted and need to rest my brain. I struggle everyday with all the other symptoms that exist in my life and do not seem to get better with time. It is extremely frustrating to not be able to be in environments with background noise as this is very overwhelming when my brain is experiencing stress and migraines.

I had a TBI 27 years ago at the age of 17, from a car accident, and this is the best explanation I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for this. I’ve only been asked a few times over all these years what is it like living with brain injury, now I know how to perfectly answer it next time!

I was told by doc i would never walk again and may regain majority of feeling in up to 5 years in which my answer was "insert choosen vulgarity here" signed myself out and never stepped foot in a "medical establishment" again!!!!!! Within that I on my own with interesting methods was walking in 6 months. Problem is i never had physical and mental therapy and if i did i think my list of questions would just be bigger lol. Any suggestions on avenues to take to relearn my brain? Because i am overly active physically especially when people are around I'm told i don't need well lots but they are the same people who use my lack of memory for their benefit amd i really need guidance from people who have experienced this. Sorry so early lack of sleep seems to be my mo these days and if i didn't get this out now may have nevah happened. thanks to anyone who got this far id appreciate any feedback

Excellent analogy thank you… My recovery from my stroke has been rapid, probably due to rest, relaxation and not overdoing things… My second stroke January 6th resulted in a month stay in a recovery hospital, there was loads of physiotherapy and occupational therapy as well as rest … I tire easily with neuro fatigue but a quick rest recharges my batteries.. then I’m able to complete a task that I started…
