Redeeming Babel’s mission is to provide “biblical thinking in a confusing world.” We seek to equip the large numbers of Christians who hunger for thoughtful ways to engage with the secular world in thoughtful and biblical ways.
How there are only 7 comments here at the moment is mind blowing to me. Thanks for speaking about this. It happens too much and everywhere. I'm not a Kannakuk survivor but the worst of the worst happened to me at Camp Cherith - currently called Camp Cedarbrook of the Adirondacks. There is currently a CVA case in NY against them. It would show up nowhere if a parent did a google search before sending kids... unless they know how to search NY legal records, which doesn't ALWAYS come up in google. I'm glad there are videos like this to at least broach the topic amongst the Christian community 😕
Good news! Curtis Chang's book THE ANXIETY OPPORTUNITY is available for pre-sale here: www.amazon.com/Anxiety-Opportunity-Worry-Doorway-Your/dp/031036728X:
One glance at who you are featured on...on your pagan site and it should be enough to send the true blood bought slave of Christ running for the door...
I voted for people I wasn't politically aligned with but I felt were better options presently than the completely corrupt/dishonest and/or election-denying, constitution-defying candidates who may have supported more of my political views/issues otherwise. A good test of whether I could vote for someone I disagree with on at least a few important issues is whether I could feel they could be respected by leaders of other democracies, and be held up as examples for children to emulate.
I think that we have a problem with candidates with strong moral character running. As in they are not. We kinda all watch from our arm chairs to see who has stepped into the ring, and vote for the best of the choices. So why don't people of strong moral character run?
There are people of strong moral character who have run and won, like Reps. Peter Meijer and Liz Cheney, who were voted out for opposing Trump's unconstitutional actions and/or his lie that he really won the 2020 election. There are others who declined to run for re-election because they knew they would lose and/or because they felt so discouraged by their colleagues supporting immoral policies or dishonest leaders/colleagues in order to either gain or remain in political power, such as Sen. Jeff Flake. Some remain in office for the time being, such as Sen. Mitt Romney. I'm sure there are a number of people in the Democratic Party who also are of good moral character...
Hi! I've never seen your channel before. And, admittedly, I haven't watch this in its entirety, but if you can't find a candidate that you would vote for... then why don't you run?
And Nancy you missed something at the end. Joe White is as big/ if not bigger than Joel Olseen in the hearts of followers. There is literally nothing that Joe could do that would change the hearts of those who trust him with their kids.
My last comment - from someone who grew up in Branson and knew Joe White a bit better than others. Kanakuk will never let the victims out of their NDAs - while knowing that if Kanakuk wanted to they could. Blame it on their insurance company? It’s truly disgusting. And all this time for the future - hundreds and thousands of kids still attend Kanakuk every year - and - the worst part - many parents just don’t care about what happened. It is truly disgusting.
And I just have to say this - that Joe White is bored as a sort of savior within his community. His teachings seem to be more important than the rape. You will see this everywhere - from the parents not pressing and settling with some money (or free tuition or iPads) and just being ok with ndas. It’s because regardless of what happened, many of them view Joe and his Kamps (cleaver use of words) as very important and honestly more important then the well being of their children. That sound terrible - but it has to be the takeaway from this. I appreciate the comments about the institution becoming more important than God (or more appropriately his expectations).
Thank you all for sharing this - but - I don’t feel like you condemned the root of the institutional issue - Joe white. It’s clear he knew about issues. It’s also clear that he ignored them. Again - the good of the institution is more important than anything else - much less the rape and molestation of kids. Nancy - I’ve read all your reports - and it makes me sick that they (make no mistake it was Joe White) did everything to cover it up. What really disturbs me is that this video has only a handful of views and only a single comment. I feel like this will be ignored and that makes me sick.
Robert Putnam has some interesting work on social capital. Also, exposure to heathy and caring families, regardless of if they are male led, is an opportunity for an important witness of "life together."
A great sports writer who got dealt a bad deal. I will miss his voice of reason when speaking basketball. I just loved his voice and analysis. He was just an amazingly on point and accurate NBA analyzer who knew march up’s like only a few.
Rest in peace, always a great speaker, always provided a laugh and food for thought. I pray your son nd family is looked after by the community the same way you gave your heart and soul to us as a sportswriter. Thanks for the memories. ❤ From Australia
I very much enjoyed listening to this. Great work by Nancy and David-French; they've performed a public service and done something unambiguously good. I must say the tortured logic used by Mr. Chang to ascribe the good news of Nancy's investigation to god moving her, but completely ignoring god's complicity in making/letting the abuse happen in his name is astounding. When literally everything good that happens is because of god, but all evil is the result of human action the inevitable result is some people saying, "well, we're all sinners so no big deal if I sin." It is a terrible, terrible dynamic and at least partially responsible for all these sexual abuse scandals at religious institutions. If, as Mr. Chang says, good doesn't stay on the sideline, why did he do so for years as his children were abused and had their lives shattered? The part at the end where he says the only reason people do the right thing is because god is moving within them is frightening. BTW David- yes, you should be trying to cancel Kanakuk. It should stop existing as an institution.
