Hey guys! I'm currently a college student in NYC who loves to vlog and make fashion/beauty/lifestyle related content. If you want to keep up with my crazy life feel free to subscribe! - Maria Cruz.
Hi Maria! Im a international student! I would like to apply in FIT next year. But I'm so confused about the process bcs the website it's not really specific. Would you make a video about it?
Half an hour checkout? I live in a average size suburban town in Illinois and my Trader Joe’s checkout is way too quick for me 😂 Dang I really want to go to FIT once I graduate but that Trader Joe’s line... dang that’s disappointing me.
Hey can you help me out and please answer my questions, I'd be so so thankful! ❤ - 1) how do we have to send our fashion design portfolio? In person or digitally? Coz im from Sweden and I wanna apply to FIT and also how can students apply from abroad? 3) where can I find all the questions and tasks for the fashion design major that we need to do in order to get in? 2) does FIT give scholarship to international students? 3) Do we have to give an interview in person before we get in coz I don't live in new york so do I have to travel over there just to give an interview in person in order to get in? 4) do they send acceptance email if we do get in? And how to send all the money? 5) I took Arts stream for my 11th and 12th grade ( which had subjects like geography, English, history, political science, fine arts, multimedia and fashion designing) so I didn't have math and I wanna apply to go to FIT next year so I will have to give my SAT exam and since I didn't have math, my scores in SAT for math and science probably won't be good so will I still have chances to get in FIT even if my sat exam score is low? Is SAT exam necessary? . I know its really long but im just looking for some answers and wanna be sure before applying. I REALLY HOPE YOU REPLY, THANKS 🙏❤
Hey, I'm not a student, but I have done a lot of research on the fashion design major. 1) you will send in your application (essay, high school scores, etc.) And they will send you a password to fit where you will submit your portfolio. 2) FITs website has all of that info. You need to go and find the degrees, then pick fashion design. 3) I have not heard of any in-person interviews. As an out of state person myself, I don't think there is. If you are waitlisted, it might be a good idea to go in and hand in a portfolio, but other then that... 4)they don't send an email, they send letters out. Idk how you will pay tuition. 5) that class should be ok? I wouldn't know though. You don't need to take the SAT or ACT. They don't take those scores for admission. You might want to submit it for placement In some classes. I hope this helped a bit. You can easily email FIT though with any questions you may have.
You have no idea how HELPFUL watching this was! it calmed down my anxiety so much, I felt like you were reading my mind every time you answered another question lol
Omg I’m moving into FIT next month, I’m so excited !! This vlog was so helpful seeing how it works lol, I might make the same kind of video for my channel too
I’m on the waitlist and am really interested in knowing how you got in!! I would love a video but we are supposed to find out in the middle of this month! If you could message me on instagram or something @shelbyyocius that would be so helpful!! I want to see if there’s anything I can do! I’m moving to New York in 3 days!
What residence hall is this? Alumni? Also, can you bring a mini fridge or maybe even a microwave to your dorm? Because I would want to live on campus but the school seems really strict about bringing certain things.
Pinkpanda4 Hey! This is Kaufman (mostly for sophomores-seniors) and I have seen people with mini fridges although it depends in which hall you’re living in. Kaufman & alumni don’t require a meal plan and they come with a full size fridge. Coed (most) and Nagler do require a meal plan so I think a mini fridge for those would be a better idea. And everyone has a microwave so don’t worry about that!
hey bby! I'm a fashion business management tudent here at FIT! I'm posting my FIT NYC Info Vlog soon, do u have specific questions /requests u want me to talk about? xoxo
Syd B Omg, that’s what major I want to do! And just like Essay tips & what kind of experience or activities could you do to help your application look better
gotcha! there's tons of stuff you can do to stand out in your essay! like a retail job, maybe an internship, even just volunteering. something that shows your passion. I'll definitely talk more about it in my vlog, even include a sample of my essay if you want! be sure to subscribe, I'll post tonight or tmrw <3
Jazmin Ayala yes I did transfer to fit because I got waitlisted the first time I applied ! And fit requires you to get an associate degree with them before you go into their bachelors program for every major.
Is the competitiveness only present in the fashion design majors? I’m majoring in communications design and am anxious and intimidated by all this cut throat competition talk lol
Jenna hey! You’re gonna see that almost all majors are very competitive... everyone is trying to prove themselves in this industry. But don’t be intimidated, you got this!
it is definitely a competitive industry, but if you are really sure of yourself and do networking, you will be successful. I'm a fashion business management student here at FIT and it was a little intimidating at first, but there's a lot you can do to stand out! BTW! I'm posting my FIT NYC Info Vlog soon! do you have any specific questions/requests? <3
Syd B actually yes I do have questions lol. Since you’ve probably been at fit for some time, is it overall a good school?? Did you make friends and is it fun being on the campus and learning there? I’m just so very nervous to go when school comes around again lol. I hope I can handle it
are you starting your freshman year? don't be nervous. it's easy to make friends at orientation & in the dorms. there's a lot of ways you can make friends before you even get to FIT, like through the roommate profiles & facebook pages, etc. I'll talk about it in my vlog for you! plz subscribe! I'll post tmrw :)
hey :) i just completed my first year of communication design. i'm a commuter student and i will say if you're commuting it is a LOT harder to make friends because it is very cliquey at FIT and people create their friend groups quickly (which is easy to do if you dorm i guess). you have to take an extra step to put yourself out there and connect with people because of this. i will say i was pretty disappointed with the level of maturity during my first year. although the age range is large and you will meet people of all ages, there are a lot of students fresh out of high school, (including myself), and it really shows, which is one of the things that annoyed me a lot during this past year. as for competitive-ness, MOST of the people i had in my design classes clearly didn't take things seriously and were there to have fun, however the select few people that took things seriously were AMAZING, competitive, and ambitious. dont be intimidated though! these people who want success for themselves will push you to do better! it motivated me to go the extra mile with my work whenever i was feeling lazy or lost my motivation. also although they are competitive, most are still very genuine and kind. also just want to give a piece of advice i wish someone had told me at the beginning of my first year of FIT- you will have amazing classes with challenging and vivid projects, and you will have not so great classes with "easy" and tedious assignments (for design). no matter the difficulty of a project, even if you think it's the most stupid prompt in the world and you dread spending time on it, DO YOUR BEST! make it challenging for yourself! treat every project with a positive outlook and make sure you are proud to present the final result. if u have questions or need advice im here if youd like :)xx
