So happy to see this. Kites can definitely be the future to sailing and renewable energy, In the past ten years I've been developing winches made specifically for kite power. We solved the line twist problem and made a winch that can pull infinite kite loops.. thats a lot of power
Navy pilots pay attention. How do you think a kite similar to this concept would work packed neatly in the seat pan of your ejection seat holding your raft. Its just another option to move you to safety or closer to rescue. Make it happen gentlemen this concept can be adapted to save your life.
A three or four meter water relaunchable learning kite = $350 + could pack small enough to be the real deal here. It's all off the shelf stuff too, no need to get too technical over it just add a third line or a couple extra for attaching to a boat harness. Kiting is so great now with safety upgrades in the equipment. Old kites would work. The HQ4 Hydra would be perfect... You don't have to pump it up ... Aloha ~
I can see this if all you have is an outrigger canoe and a parasail but it has to be the most complicated and potentially dangerous way to use the wind for propulsion.
The smaller craft run like a scalded dog under kite power. Can speed be managed to get a lower speed should it be needed? Or is it totally a matter of size of kite relative to boat and wind speed and direction?
Depower the Kite/Change down a size or two/Keep kite more towards edge of window/Don't 'fly it' as much ie..more of a fixed position as opposed to moving it to generate lift.
Their website is the most frustrating thing there is, obviously we all go there to now about the board and explorer the possibility of buying, and even though it has great videos and fotos, there is absolutely no info on the board, specs, what stage they’re in, when is it expected or price, its practically useless because you’ll just find the same videos you have watched here on youtube
Because: "Thank you everyone for your interest and encouragement! We are currently still prototyping and will make an announcement when we have boards available to sell."
