The modern piano still has a non-linear response, as do all instruments, except digital radioelectric instruments (samplers, software synthesizers etc). This is what makes a real instrument more living though.
I went to a friends house in 1970 and her father had what he called, a harpsichord. its keyboard was 9 foot across. I had never seen one and have not seen something similar since.
the sound played on early piano forte is very amazing and different tune color. And I can see the articulation is not needed in early pianoforte😮to create color. No wonder now only gifted pianists play with color. It's my first time seeing an early pianoforte😍. The modern piano has become a percussion instrument and each brand has different tune color. Musicians need to try harder with articulation to play the original classical tune and color but later in life ending up with join pain and other health issues. No wonder Bach was hard to play on modern piano but it was a piece of cake in baroque period with harpsichord and pianoforte. It's so unfair for the musicians now.🤣 I am assuming musicians in classical and romantic period no need to waste hours and hours of time practise articulation only need to remember chord progression and some articulation. Thank you for showing the early piano forte. I have played pieces on harpsichord and organs in school.
He does a good job except at 7:24 he explains that the pianoforte has 58 "notes" and the modern piano has 88 "notes." Those are "keys," not notes. Notes are what are on the page of a score. At least I think that's the way it goes.
This video has answered my questions about how keyboard instruments evolved over the centuries. Before RU-vid, I had no idea where to look. This, my friends is the value of YT. To learn. I am 84 yrs. old...never stop learning!
No handmade Violin is the same, they all have their own unique character because even the wood used uses different parts, from different trees, and different types For each violin. (I know its not relatable with the Topic)
