I love what you did with the water walking in this version. Making it clearer when you can walk on dark bule and normalizing it so the times items are hidden there it doesn't seem out of place to try it. I'm a little sad to see the broken down temple sprites go on the overworld map. Is there a reason you removed them? Were they just a placeholder for yourself to note locations on the map during developement?
2:33:37 What you did is fantastic. In all honesty Miyamoto always said in interviews that "there is more he wanted to do with this entry", it doesn't feel like a Zelda...because it wasn't early in developement. The elements you added MAKE it a Zelda that fits right in with the rest of the entries. You've done something fantastic for this franchise. You've made what should be considered the official entry and people are noticing. Things will happen, I wouldn't be suprised if many pick up the source code to do their own thing with it and we see this run in AGDQ in the next few years. I know Nintendo has been a rampage recently, but I feel like if Miyamoto saw this. He would thank you and offer you a job as opposed to the other option.
2:28:30 Instead of swapping the sword for the ring, move the blob that's in the 6th temple. Keep the puzzle, but move it to the beach that's just north of the new game plus area (the alternate branching path that leads to mountains blocking your path instead of the dock). That way, people can access the sword as soon as they get the flute. If they are willing to brave traveling through the end game area early. Honestly it's not TOO much earlier. Basically it would go like this you walk to that point on the map and it brings you to a sandy area that has temple ruins, leading to the side of the mountain at the end. The ruined temple is a palet similar to the ruins to the south of you, on the other side of the mountains. You would keep the block falling puzzle to the hidden passage at the top of the screen that's in palace 6 and put it here. You would put a P bag at the bottom of the cliff face to hide the fact that the true purpose is the block staircase path that leads to the blob. next screen could be more ruins where you are climbing to the peak of the mountain and at the top is the blob puzzle that you have in temple 6, just moved here. If you did swap the ring for the sword, I would still keep the sword in the area it is, maybe just have the boulder puzzle reveal the blue portal to what I can only assume is the sacred grove and the blobs open a pit or unlock a door similar to the new game plus passage for the ring. The swap makes sense enough since most of the time Link can access the mastersword halfway through the game...sometimes it's closer to 3/4 or 2/3. Looking forward to if you adjust. I know you said earlier in the video you're trying to be done with it.
33:25 Maybe a good item for the Zelda palace woods would be a P bag equivalent to northern contenent bag totals that requires fire/burnable wall. I haven't played the latest version that released a few days ago, only played version P03, but I was hoping for a few more when I discovered there was only one by the river man, not counting the wizard tutorial.
Is there any chance you could upload a playlist of all the new music in this version? I love the remixes, but they don't seem to be available to listen to anywhere.
Great job, Hoverbat! You improved on a classic in every way. Although the final golden slime in the Tri-Rock Palace was a bit...Byzantine? That was the only one I couldn't figure out on my own.
Hoverbat, how soon will a Zelda 2 Level Maker be available? Can an equivalent to Mario Maker and Megaman Level maker be done in the vein of Fred Coughlin's Zelda 1 Rondo where you can create/build your own stages/levels? Just asking.
is the discord recovered from the hacking? i was there and just left it because i was unsure of what else to do. came to see if it was addressed actually haha so glad to hear it is in quarantine mode(?)
Don't know how else to contact you. Your discord server just got nuked. A new channel appeared, with an everyone ping and a malicious link. It was posted by a bot that bore your name. The community red flagged it immediately but oddly there was a moderator online that was in defense of the posts. This is the same mod that was working with you in the volunteers channel, began with a K and now I don't know who it is because the server is gone. Someone ran a MalwareBytes scan on the linked site and posted the results to the discord channel, showing it was a phishing attack. The message was deleted within five seconds and the channel mysteriously disappeared after. All was quiet for about an hour until someone asked in general chat why they got a ping. I posted "possible attack vector, channel deleted" and that is when the entire server started vanishing. I deliberately left the server before the final purge and immediately went online looking for a way to contact you. I hope you get this message soon!!!!
Hey! I make The Legend of Zelda 1 (NES version 8-bit) ROM hacks and would love to see you try to tackle one. They are tricky and challenging. Definitely will make you think at times. I can E-mail you one if you would be up for the challenge. I changed shops, dungeon locations, dungeon items, dungeon maps, outside world map, secrets and more. I would enjoy watching you play a blind play through it
Man, what you made and did for the Z2 NES fans is insanely good and so appreciated. I played your game and beat the both quests. I immediately played it all over again, and am still enjoying it so much. One constructive idea I would like to offer is if you add more updated and new music. For example: if you made different 8bit music for each castle, some encounters, etc. That would really be awesome. Update that and maybe add some extra post game castles, bosses, enemies, and items. Keep the dream alive and ever expanding! ❤❤❤
Can the mask only be received after beating shadow link in the second quest? I am here prior to the Grand Palace but can't get the puzzle to open the door to the mask.
Although defeating Shadow Link is required to complete the 2nd quest, you can get the mask without defeating him. There are some guides here in the discord discord.gg/zeamCtAh
Love what you have done with the game Hoverbat. I have been playing the hell out of the released one. Zelda 2 has always been my personal favorite. These changes look great. Being able to view the keys you have gotten for the dungeons and the hints you have received is huge. I hope you also add in a place to record the boulder circle clues you have uncovered from the wise men. It is a pain if you forget to write them down and have to go all around to all the towns again. The different sprites for Link is nice. Hopefully Zelda is one of them, considering the new Zelda game that is coming out where you play as her to rescue Link, it would be a nice nod to that. Another nice addition would be the ability to exclude or reduce the number of key items, other than the Master Key, from the Great Palace. I had a randomized run where I got the Master Key, Shield, Ring, Meat, and 4 Heart container pieces all from the Great Palace, and by that point you do not get much use out of them. Thanks for the great remaster!
congrats man I just played your zelda game and it is all I ever wanted. also you are very skilled making games, are you thinking on making an original someday?
@@HoverBat I figured it out. Do you have a guide on how to find all the Magic containers, heart pieces, and 1ups? Also I was wondering, cause I couldn't find the information of what is that book of magic used for?
@@HoverBat hey if you may, can you post a fresh discord link? id like to have access to your server so i can monitor updates n stuff without having to rely on the random yt algorithm, thanks.. plus i can ask for help if i cant find something in game
@@HoverBat i also have a suggestion as i had to Redo the entire great palace on original quest not new game plus..... it was.. unfun and id like you to be aware and i got fixes in mind.
Just caught wind of this PC fan remake, downloaded P03 and gave it a whirl for 10 minutes while I had some downtime. I'm so excited to dive deeper into this. It's just a whole new experience, and I'm glad you got this off the ground before Nintendo could pull the plug on it. Props, my dude!
These are the kind of remakes I like. Same graphics, game play, music, and lore. Some modern remakes are completely different from the original. This looks like something I would love to play. How to?
Another question. In Darunia, how are you supposed to obtain the six P bags in the woman's basement? I can't figure out if there is a way to get on top of the basement ceiling from inside the house. Edit: I figured it out, you sneaky bastard.
