SAR-AND-IPITY TRAVEL - we are Sarah and Andy - we make films of beautiful places. Having met late in life and make sure we maximise on every hour of the present and future. We used to live to work, but now we work to live. We both have full time jobs so we fit our love for travel and adventures around our daily lives of sitting behind a computer (Andy) and teaching music and organising music events (Sarah). We live in the stunning Lake District of England, but have a love affair with warmer countries.
There are lots of channels of young globe-trotters and millionaire RU-vidrs. We are neither young or rich, so if you want to see child-free travel by not-so-young adventurers, visiting beautiful places on real-world budgets, then this is the place for you.
Oh, so many things to see and do. If you didn't already know, we have about 7 or 8 videos of Eleuthera covering north to south. There are dozens of beaches, restaurants and must see places in them. If you want just 3 things they would be: an afternoon at Tenbay and / or Receiver's beach, a meal at La Bougainvillea or 1648, and do the Schooner Cays tour. You will find them all in our Eleuthera playlist. Have an amazing time 😍
It was absolutely fantastic. The Anantara had the best breakfast buffet we have ever tried, but the Chedi's selection was also great and everything was super fresh and tasty. Have a great time if you visit 🙂
Thank you for watching. There are 2 more Cat Island videos on our channel that you might find useful. Everyone should make time in their life to visit Cat Island. We hope you do too 🙂
@@sarandipitytravel You’re right I agree! I read your bio and I love where you said “We are neither rich or young” and that’s exactly where I’m at 51 I want to travel the world even more, Thank you again, I’m subscribing and will be watching! 😊
Tough question. It would be a toss up between Shanna's Cove and Fernandez Bay. However the stunning Atlantic side beach at Greenwood is 8 miles long and because there is always a breeze there are no bugs. Every beach there is empty and amazing 🙂
Thank you for your video. I was reminiscing my time at Fernandez Bay Village where I spent a week with my wife on our honeymoon 13 years ago. Honestly, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. We visited multiple beaches all over the island and we were the only ones! Our favorite was the beach with pink sand. I am glad to see that it still has remained the same remote place we visited over a decade ago.
So glad we could take you back to a place with such lovely memories. We have released 2 more videos from Cat Island since this one. Maybe some of your favourite spots will be in one of those. Hope you find time to return and re-live those memories with Cat Island sand between your toes.
You two are, like most people who are able to travel, enjoying your time. But the extra that you do - helping others along the way is precious! Thank you for doing what you do.
We love making these videos but it really does take a huge amount of effort and time (the editing for this one was just over 10 hours). A message like this means more than you can imagine . Thank you so much
@@sarandipitytravel Hi Sara and Andy - I will be out there soon myself. I have a little bit of footage that I have been playing with over the years so I have an idea. I hope to launch a channel soon. Keep it up!
Hi, there was no generator on the property, but there may have been one for the resort. If you check the link in the description below the video, you can visit the AirBnB page. Drop Brian a message - I am sure he can give you the answer. Thanks for watching the video 🙂
Thanks! I did ask Brian. It doesn't. He did mention that the power outages are seldom. How would you compare beach at Treasure Cay to Green Turtle Cay, or Elbow Cay? Thinking of Treasure cay since no ferry needed to get to it
For us it would absolutely be Treasure Cay and visit Green Turtle. The Treasure Cay beach is just perfect. The pool is fabulous as well. Have an amazing time whatever you choose 🙂
As a tourist, we try to be sympathetic to the local environment and also give back where possible. On this trip we packed 6 musical instruments in our cases and donated them to the Cat Island Community Band.
The resort footage is great. That is a pretty tame road for the Family Islands, though. If you've been to Lighthouse Point, this is nothing! Skip the rough road scenes in the future and focus on the cool stuff. )
Good to see Miss Emily and the Blue Bee Bar still going strong after all these years since I visited. And Nippers! And Cap'n Jacks! Thanks for bringing back some great memories from many years ago sailing in the Abacos.
Hey, the price was room only. The bar works on an honesty system and you pay at the end of the visit. There is a set menu for the evening meal which was incredible and changed daily. I think breakfast (which was really good) was included but I may be wrong.
Thank you! I've seen a couple of ypur videos and really like them. What range should we ex0ect to pay for dinners abd breakfast? Also, when did toy stay at this hotel?
Thanks! Did the reef cottage have the outdoor shower as well? Did the hotel include wifi and toiletries? We hare headed to Harbour Island this August bit really enjoyed watching your cat island video and may stay and Fernandez hotel
Yes - the Reef room was the smallest but was perfect for us and had the outside bathroom. It is the opposite of Harbour Island. You feel like you are the only people there.
The X7 is an amazing parlour guitar. Look at the Virtuo as well for stage stuff ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cusp3lsqeXM.htmlsi=F-rzRlMrrAVzOcg6
Here is a link to far better players than me showing what the guitar sounds like ru-vid.com/group/PLgfSP7ezEXIsJZyyJ8MXEm4XDnAbqq0jo&si=qvfNc02Du1vI84Lx
Only seen the guitars in action on the Emerald website….and they do look stunning. As someone who plays 12 string (badly!) I’m always interested to see how conditions affect guitars….will the neck warp, will it stay in tune. So, thanks for this. All helpful….although my travel plans mostly mean wet Scottish islands!
In the whole trip, I only had to make very minor adjustments to tuning - the perfect 12 string solution. There is a link on the website to link up with players in your area who have an Emerald to try. We are close to the Scottish Borders if you want to try the 6 string.
emeraldguitars.com/ref/2185 Yes Agreed. Get one. Or 5 like me!! I’m an Emerald Ambassador in NJ, James. Email me. Emeralds are the best ever. I ditched all my wood guitars. No more hassles. 🇮🇪🔥
Fantastic footage..Been to Spanish Wells a few times..Makes me want to go back..Next time try the Conch Chowder at Sandbar ..its awesome....i was your 600th subscriber a couple of days ago..
Hello! My hubby and I have been enjoying your videos and just subscribed. I was wondering what your advice would be to a couple of newbies who have very little experience with boating other than the occasional outings with friends who own boats on lakes. We are interested in learning more about boating, cruising, sailing...etc... We also want very much to visit the Bahamas! Any advice would be appreciated!
Hey, thanks for watching and subscribing! Anything we do on the water is on someone else's boat. One of the reasons we started to film our trips was because many of the Bahamas video on RU-vid are from boaters and we wanted to put a different perspective. I would absolutely recommend subscribing to the @SearchingforCShels channel for boat content in the Bahamas. Their films are amazing. They have not done much content in the last year or so, but go back over their older stuff. With the Bahamas in general, work out what you want from your vacation. If you want the all inclusive or hotel type break with a more Florida type feel, then Nassau is your place (we haven't been but understand Grand Bahamas is similar). For what we would consider a more true Bahamas vibe, the family islands are where it is at. We always AirBnB or Vrbo. If you want the warmest water, travel between April and August, but remember it is hurricane season. It is EXPENSIVE. Everything is imported and there is no income tax, so everything in imported and heavily taxed. You need a car and that will add $80 - $100 per day to your visit. Be prepared that one visit in never enough. Once found, you will return time after time. Pop over to our website and reach out if you have specific question. Would love to help if we can. www.sarandipitytravel.com
we have other soul food Bahamian dishes that doesn't seem to be heavily marketed as much to tourists....what type of food do you like? have you crab soup, peas soup? crab n dough?
Hey, we have been rightfully called out for this. I think we didn't emphasise enough that we were describing food in the typical tourist type pub. We have had incredible food at both high end places and small local eateries in the Bahamas. We have just come back from Cat Island (the videos will start coming out in a few weeks) where we had some of the best food we have ever had anywhere in the world. It was at a tiny beach-side place that could only seat 10 people.
I stumbled upon your videos this morning while looking for Eleuthera information, We're looking at Blue turtle cottage for August, I nearly flipped when I saw it on your video today ! Would you recommend it to a 1st time Eleuthera visitor? Is the location good for seeing the rest of the island ? Your videos have really made us more excited about visiting this beautiful island 🌴
Hey, thank you for watching our videos. Yes Blue Turtle is a lovely Vrbo if you are planning to explore the island. It is just south of Governors Harbour meaning you can get up and down quite easily. You are close to Tenbay, Tippys, La Bougainvillea, and French Leave beach. Hope you have an amazing vacation and fall in love with the island like we have.
Hey again 👋 Those Venus pools are amazing! We stayed on old banks road in April and cant wait to go back. Love Baccus aswell Looks like u had a ton of fun Great drone footage 👍🏻🍻
Hello love the video and your Eleuthera one also 👍🏻 ive never been to LI but we have been to Eleuthera twice. Im curious which one u like btr and why? Is the extra travel hassle worth it? Thanks 🙏
Hey...Long Island should be on every Bahamas loving person's list. It is less developed than Eleuthera with fewer restaurants and no real resorts, but the natural beauty is breathtaking. We love Eleuthera to the point of naming our house after the island. We have another couple of Eleuthera videos coming out in the next few weeks and then we will be releasing our Cat Island videos. We really fell for Cat Island - another to add to your list 🙂. Inter-island travel is difficult but we always do 2 island groups in our visits. It is absolutely worth the hassle. DM is on Facebook if you want any pointers 🙂
Thank you for your lovely message. We were just there a few weeks ago too and as I type I am editing the next set of Bahamas videos which start in Eleuthera. Keep your eyes peeled 🙂
I'm so glad to get some good intel about different locations to visit in the Bahamas. so beautiful, and as for the air bnb dillema, well, it's always a hit or miss with those places, the first thing i always check is the pillows, the mattress, under the toilet seat,,a few pretty tell tell signs right there, what you're about to step into for the night or more.LoL. I absolutely love all your videos!!! Thank you so much for posting. Will definitely be watching all the rest of your channel and more to come! Thank you for posting.
Interesting comment. Sorry our little video upset you so much. We try to get the combination of talking and location filming right. Many people comment that they like the balance in our films. I hope you enjoy any time you spend in beautiful Abaco anyway.
