Try switching the sound Off (F1) when model is running...reduce speed then press F1. If that fails, reduce speed to zero and press F1 whilst model is slowing...then readjust/increase the speed.... Just purchased two £105.00 each. Like all new models too highly priced. Accurascale Manor badly let down by a Crap motor and not much better is the Hornby 2MT, neither will pull the skin of the skin off a rice pudding!
THE ex BR(SR) GENERAL MANAGERS MULTI-PURPOSE MULTI-FUNCTIONAL SALOON - TODAY JUST A CARRIAGE !!!! You obviously know nothing about the model you have purchased ! It is of course a vehicle built in 1957 as part of a six car Hastings line SR Class 6B express DEMU with Buffet car ! This specialised saloon was converted from the Buffet car of one of those units. Those Express Diesel Electric Multiple Units were of course built to BR Mk1 (narrow body) coach standards, by Eastleigh works, to SR "Restriction 0" Loading Gauge 8ft 0.25in body width. To allow them to operate over the Tonbridge - Hastings line, which due to narrow tunnels, required all stock & locos to be narrower than standard. As converted by BR(SR) it was the most sophisticated & versatile vehicle in Britain. But this version of the model quickly reveals, the real vehicle has been downgraded to nothing more than effectively a locomotive hauled coach. So it no longer has any of its multi-functional abilities. A sad indictment of the current ignorant "Muppet Rail" network in Britain.
I had no idea that tiny speaker would make such loud sounds. I'm dedicated to DC only but I can hear the fun you can have with it. Getting the body off is an absolute pain because those handrails have to be unclipped from those very delicate steps and unhelpfully the factory glued them in. When taking the body off you will need six thin cards for the clips, start at the training end then the motor end lift and slide back towards the motor end. Check out my review. Lovely model. Can you dim down the head tail lights on DCC?
An overall good video here on this new 18100 gas turbine locomotive, I received mine a couple of weeks ago mine being the DC version and to put it in simple terms it’s currently one of the best models I have bought in 2024, I’m overall very pleased with mine plus it gives me all the gas turbine locomotives which you were saying there was only 3 however there were actually 4 because the APT-e power cars were powered by gas turbines, back to the model as I say I’m very pleased with it, I do quite like the black spots on the buffers and it most likely represents grease plus it’s good that rails/heljan have done that because many photos of the real locomotive do show the buffers having the black spots on them, great to see it side by side with 18000 and just going to that model I can report that I have had no issues with it running on 3rd radius curves, the vast majority of people who had issues with that model were the ones trying to make it go round curves tighter than 3rd radius or their layouts were just terribly built with things like undulations in it which is not recommended for any model never mind the model of 18000 and going back to it going round curves the manual for 18000 does state that it can’t do curves tighter that 3rd radius, I am happy to report that I haven’t had an issue with my 18000 when it comes to running and as a result I conclude that their were no issues with that model what so ever when it came to running, it just suffered from people who either: 1 couldn’t read a manual or 2 did read the manual but were trying to make it do something that it just wasn’t designed for, the whistles breaking though I can agree with you on that because mine broke off a few times when I first got it but luckily I was able to glue them back into place and they haven’t come off mine since, heljan are always excellent with their one off locomotives, I pretty much have every one that they have done now, an overall good video showing yours here and keep up the good work, even though you didn’t show it pulling a train I need to look for some suitable GWR stock for both my 18000 and 18100.
Excellent review and a fantastic model. I have a few locos with multiple sound/announcement features on each function. Very cool and less tedious when used! Stunner of a sculpting, too!
