I really dont like the songs in lower keys. Stings whole aesthetic is that he should be soaring up in the stratosphere. Walking on the Moon just sounds so anemic. Comparable singers Jon Anderson (quite a bit older than Sting,) and Colin Hay are still able to get up there in that register. I wonder what happened to his voice? This almost sounds like a Sting immposter.
@mancuniancandidatem it's just age, he's probably been singing out of his range for years. Jon Anderson's speaking voice is pretty much the same as his singing voice.
@@Lance37a You are right about Jon Anderson , but Colin Hay still has it even though, like Sting I think he is an extended baritone . I wonder if Sting doesn't want to put in the maintenance anymore. I was amazed to see a fairly recent video of him (like in the last 10 years) arriving at LAX and smoking a cigarette. Jon Anderson cracks me up when he speaks. 😂 He has the strangest accent I have ever heard. He is supposedly from Accrington near Manchester.
Which song are you referring to? In "Shape of My Heart", he is playing exactly what is needed for the song, and he thankfully does not overplay like so many guitar players these days. "It's not the notes you play, it's the notes you don't play." (Miles Davis).
@@jopberlin Not sure what you mean. Miles really said that, as far as I know, about not playing too many notes. Since you find Dominic Miller's guitar playing boring, I was wondering which song you were referring to. And if you find it boring, I am under the impression you want him to play more (or something entirely different, but in the end, he wrote the guitar part to "Shape of My Heart"). I just wanted to voice a different opinion, I like what he plays, that's all. If you are looking for more exciting guitar playing, there's plenty of other music around which should be more according to your expectations. I find that at least 80% of guitar players are overplaying most of the time, even if they are technically brilliant and "exciting". Sometimes, less is more, and I think this is the case here with "Shape of My Heart", but we can all like different things, I suppose.
THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!!!!!
I love how rhythmically articulate Simon was on ‘Hard Lovin’ Man’. Sounds really good. McBride I think fits the band better than his direct predecessor, Steve Morse. No offense to Steve, but Simon fits better.
I'm a die-hard, Blackmore fan.Simon Mcbride is a fantastic player. He's injected new life into the band Ian doesn't sound like he did. However, neither does Plant,Elton John,&lits of others. The voice changes when you get older. In .y humble opinion they are sounding bloody great! As for this getting personal ,rubbish comments.Grow up!Embrace quality si gs,&music. If not,.well what the hell are you doing here?!
Mein Sohn und ich waren auch da. Es war wie immer. Nein. Long Life DP Jürgen Fan seit 1972
@banjomusic76 Thank you very much. Yes, I love that guitar, had the back of the headstock signed by Warren Haynes recently when I met him during the last tour with his band.
