Hello Jeff, i have decided to get installed DC3 (x3) module now on my corolla and wondering if, iDataStart RF3452AE 2-Way LED RF Kit with 5-Button Remotes kit can be installed and configure to work on my DC3 starter in future?
Hello Jeff, i have decided to get installed DC3 (x3) module now on my corolla and wondering if, iDataStart RF3452AE 2-Way LED RF Kit with 5-Button Remotes kit can be installed and configure to work on my DC3 starter in future?
Hi Jeff, if i get install one way Compustar RF-1WG15-AP Prime G15 1-Way 2000ft Range Remote Kit with DC3 module . how easy it would be to upgrade 2way remote starter later on as one way Antenna cable & antenna is different for this kit is (4-4) pin but, two way remote cable and Antenna is different and has 4-6 pin ? Please answer. Is it a good idea to save extra labour to get install two way cable (4-6 pin) now with one way antenna so in future i can just swap antenna with two way remote and get configure my self ??
@bornhandsome if you upgrade to the 2WQ9 or 2WG15 style remotes, the antenna cable is the same. But little known secret, you simply re pin the end of the 4 pin cable, if you need the 6 pin connector. All of them only use, 4 pins
Hi Jeff, i am going to get DC3 with 1WG15-AP prime G15 1 way RF kit which come with New AM plus antena which is basically fits with 4-4 pin cable. In future i am planning to upgrade two way remotes. My question to you is, 1) 2WG15-AP prime G15 remote can be configure with this FM antena? 2) do i have install new two way antena and new cable 4-6 pin cable for two way remote upgrade? 3) can 4-6 cable be install with new AM plus antena? So in future i dont have run another antena cable ( running antena cable is a pain for DIY ). So infuture i just have to put 2 way antena but cable stays same. And for now i can use 4-6 cable with mew AM antena? I hope you understood what i mean to say. Thanks
Hi, i got question . If i get install DS4 from installer who is going to install me MyCar2 Module ( 3G/LTE) with lifetime service . Would i be still able to download SmartStart (Viper ) mobile app and use with bluetooth only? Because DS4 has inbuilt Bluetooth and they advertise also that we can use SmartStart app without paying any extra if we use within bluetooth proximity and phone? I mean to say MyCar2 app and SmartStart app both. I hope you answer my question? I want to make decision to choose either DS4 or DC3
Question... I am in Florida so clearly cannot bring my 2013 vw beetle convertible to you. I am trying to wire a new backup cam to Jenson radio. Any advice on how to power the cam??
Hi. In this video you have mentioned that DC3 can work on Drone, mystart (viper) and mycar etc. i am wondering if SmartStart ( Viper) works on DC3 hardware ? Please do reply. Thanks
Hi , what would you pick if you had 2024 corolla key-start gas model for remote start and mobile app.? 1) Would you go DS4 or DC3 ? 2) what mobile app Smart start or Mycar 2? My plan is lately to add two way remote in to the system but not now. Please reply as i like you videos but this is specific question if you could help me making a decision. Thanks
I would suggest the DC3 over the DS4. There is no plug and play harness available for either though. FYI, Fortin has the THARONE-TOY17 harness, that works with the EVO-ONE, but the EVO-ONE is not as good of an alarm, as the DC3 is. I would suggest MyCar2 for smartphone app control (ONLY if you live in Canada though, as it does not work in the US yet) Email us at sales@lockdownsecurity.ca for more details, and pricing.
As far as we know, Viper is not currently offering any proximity based lock/unlock functionality, only Compustar is offering this via their T13 key fob, and their EZGOII system
This was the main reason for me making the video, I remember testing this camera the first time, and thought it was faulty as I had no image, then found the HD setting, and voila the camera worked. Glad the video helped, it really is an awesome product!
Thanks for the video, very informative. May I ask please, I have the 2WQ900-AS, my car is Mazdaspeed 3 2007 model, I added the Push/Start button to the car before I installed the Compustar system, everything works great, do I need anything else to add to the comustar system, like the blade module? I live in Australia, do I need the Drone as well? Can you explain please the use of the two modules as I am a bit confused. Cheers
Hi there, I currently have a Fortin EVO ONE installed on a 2018 Subaru push start and I’d like to install the mycar2. If I wanted the heated seats and defrosters to come on using the aux features in the my car 2 app, is there any extra installation considerations or is it all plug and play using theycar2 device and harness it comes with?
I had this head unit since February. Cons: -Touch responsiveness is meh. - I can't play any videos using the usb/carplay. - closest I got to get the head unit to play a video was using a hard drive to head unit usb; Only sound will come out because a warning sign will come onto the screen saying "can't play video while driving" along that line, even though, I was parking in my drive way testing it out. I want to watch videos during my lunch break. Maybe video format problem on my end - I know android head unit has the option to disable the warning sign in their brake setting, but the Nakamichi doesn't have it. I don't have the hdmi to video/audio output cable, so I can't say anything about that part. - Kinda annoying when I go from Reverse to Drive, sometimes the screen will go black, so I have to put it to park or reverse again then to drive to allow the screen to go back to normal; and also Drive to Park, sometimes it'll take a minute to show the screen unless you go from reverse/drive to park again. Moreover, I do have a back up camera, so that might be a factor. - when reversing, music cuts off unless you reverse right away while the head unit is still loading up, the music will play at a lower volume until you hit Drive. I even turned off the sound in setting when reversing, but it doesn't fix the problem. - head unit doesn't seem to have any updates at all. - preinstalled frame may not fit your car; might have to get a dash kit, which I had to. Pros: - A very good head unit for a beater/daily driven car like mine, and I also bought it under $200; affordable. - Wireless carplay/android auto - resolution/quality is decent. Not the best, not the sorriest; just fine. - Navigation antenna is accurate. I put mine in front/on top of the dashboard (in front of windshield). - Does have learning mode for steering control - Starts up really fast. Like 8 seconds I don't think you can go wrong with either the Nakamichi nor Blaupunkt for an older car. Depends if someone likes capacitive touch or physical button at the end of the day (I prefer capacitive touch). However, I see that the Blaupunkt have "driving ban video" in its setting; therefore, it should be easier to play videos on that head unit than the Nakamichi, I'm assuming. Great video!
Just installed one of these. Android auto does not work with my 2023 Samsung a34 like it's supposed to so no nav. Bluetooth seems to have paired for phone calls though (havnt tested it yet though) I'm devastated that I don't have nav though. Also, does not play DVDs like it's supposed to.
You mentioned that the new ADS-USB-ECO does not work for flashing compustar stuff. On your website in the description, it shows that it will work with compustar stuff. Has that changed since this video was put out 9 months ago or is it a typo on the website? I need to refresh my DC3 brain and an ADS-THR-CH12 and would prefer the cheaper one if it will work. Also you didn't mention the weblink mobile. Is that easy to use for flashing and doing KLON or is the computer required for some of the programming steps? Could you make a video showing the weblink mobile in use?
Hi Steve, thanks for the comment and for watching our video. In our tests, the ADS-USB-ECO does NOT work on the Compustar FT-DC3, or the FT-CMX. Only the ADS-USB or the ADS-USB-HUB work on these products. I just went ahead and edited our website to reflect this (removed the text about it working with Compustar)
So I have a CM3 brain in my old truck that I would like to repurpose for my newer 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel. I was wondering if I can reprogram it, if it was already flashed by best buy to my old 2002 Silverado. I think I need to order a few parts from your website to make it work but would like to make sure this will be possible. I think I need the brain and antenna/remotes out of the old truck and then an Idatalink CH12 to work with my new RAM. I think I will also need the USB weblink for programming and maybe KLON? The RAM already has factory remote start that works fine but I would like my 2 way remote and the extra range. Also like being able to trigger starts from an external Alexa controlled smart wifi board that I made. Do you think those 2 items will be the only things I need to reuse my DC3 brain? Is there anything else you can think of?
Hi Steve, yes you can reprogram the DC3 you have to work in your new 2020 Ram Rebel. Yes you will need the ADS-THR-CH12 harness if you want to do a plug and play install, you will also need the ADS-USB programming tool to do the firmware change (you also need an account set-up at www.idtalink.com). Remove the DC3 brain, the antenna, and antenna cable from the old truck, also keep the Compustar key fobs as well. The ADS-THR-CH12 harness will come with all the wiring you need. I might suggest trying to keep the wiring from the DC3 that is connected in the old truck (remove it from the truck if you can), as there are some secondary harnesses the DC3 comes with when new, that the CH12 harness does not come with. Yes the 2020 RAM Rebel requires KLON programming.
I see a lot of Ram trucks being stolen in canada lately. You mentioned the field disturbance sensor for convertibles. Couldnt that be setup as a warn away with like a foot or two detection range just beyond the truck doors so if someone approached to use a slim jim or check your VIN it would give the warn away chirps and if they did it again it would go into full alarm?
Yes and no, proximity sensors can be set to trigger when someone walks close the vehicle, but the problem is the steel body of the vehicle, this causes interference and interference with proximity sensors means false alarms, constantly. The other thing that is an issue with setting exterior perimeter detection, weather, specifically hot and cold temps, these also cause false alarms. So, this is why proximity sensors are designed for, and best used in, convertibles, to protect the interior when the top is down.
We are partial to Compustar as our preferred security brand, so, I would suggest a Compustar FT-CMX-HC, the FT-ALARMIT kit, and then pair it with the key fob kit that you prefer best. You will also need a iDatalink BLADE-AL interface.
I have a cm900as in my auto trans car. Sold it and got a manual transmission. Should I keep the cm900as or get a cmx? Not using RS as I’ll never park in neutral because ebrakes can fail.
If you are just using the system as an alarm, the CM900AS can work, but, my suggestion would be for safety, use the FT-CMX and make sure the system remains in manual transmission mode (loop not cut).
I have a Fortin EVO - All I installed it and it worked fine ( 2008 Jeep Liberty Key to start ) The battery died and was replaced But after the replacement the remote starter works perfectly except for this If I use the remote to start the car The very next time I start the car with no remote The starter stays engaged for about 3 seconds I did a master reset ( 3times ) And reprogrammed it ( 3 times ) Problem persists If I use the remote and then insert the key to run position and then turn the car off The next time I start it with the key it will sometimes start normally but sometimes the starter cranks for about three seconds Any ideas ?
Dronemobile is more reliable for US users, since mycar2 onetime lifetime subscription is not available. Plus you have all these 3rd parties mediocre websites that you have to deal with. Call me paranoid, but the one feature is missing is turning off gps tracking from the app on either for privacy concerns when and if needed! This just calling for gov tracking you when they want to. So for gps I rather have odb that I can remove when needed
I've got a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ, only stumbled on your videos after installing my remote start, I ended up going for a Compustar CM-X with Compustar Prime R3 1 way remote, had 8 wires to connect and the old girl has remote start, ended up costing me $200! If you're wondering how hard it is to install a basic remote start on an old vehicle, it took me an hour and I wish I had done it sooner!
Got a question . I have a 96 c1500 that I Ls swap i put a 05 Tahoe 5.3 ls and transmission into my c1500 my pcm for the 05 Tahoe engine has no security locks on it it’s all been disabled and I’m wanting to install a compustar with the t12 remote on my truck what all would I have to buy to install this myself
You will need the RF-2WT12-SS key fob kit, and the FT-CMX-HC, along with the FT-ALARMIT-KIT. If your PCM has all of the OEM immobilizer security turned off (passlock), then you do not need an interface module. You will need relays though, for keyless entry (door lock) connections.
