I will say be careful when letting your cat near your bird. A parakeet is a prey animal after all. So it could easily become spooked by a cat. Cats also love to hunt and kill both rodents and birds so I'd say not to let your cat near your bird. Just for it's own safety. Better to be safe then sorry <3
Dont let the cat get near the bird even if the bird is in the cage cus birds can get stressed from predators being near them, my friend had a bird pass away from the stress if being near a cat.
I'm getting a bird by next week and name her blueberry i found a blue parakeet today i might get the bird for next week i love budgies they are cute birds
I have 2 parakeets gawd damn I have a green and white one and soon gonna get 4 birds help just be careful some are very aggressive like one I have almost bit my brother and he is sensitive (well she bit me a lot of times) BUT NICE PETS! I recommend also not grabbing them a lot or letting them out cuz they can die and make sure to buy a lot of toys they get very bored honestly also sorry.. they poop ALOT when you grab them or sm That’s just some! if I’m wrong tell me I’ve only had 2 for like 4 months
I have 4 budgies and a cockatiel,if they are aviary raised they can be hard to tame (all mine were hand fed and reared) nice set up,my birds go crazy for bird kabobs, remember to give him veggies!
You already got to try feeding the bird with hand and interacting with it in like a day or something? When I got my budgie, we were recommended to wait for at least 1 week for them to settle in before starting interaction! Well that’s probably because mine is much younger and still is a baby. How old was your budgie when it was bought?
I wanna warn you about the cat with the bird the cat might attack the bird to keep safe you wanna probably move the cat to another room is possible just for the bird’s safety I had a cat with a bird and it didn’t end up well. You know sometimes predators and prey’s can’t go together
Please don’t cut his feathers and when they grow back you should let him fly around the house! ( they might loose the ability to fly if they haven’t for a long time, and it’s very important for a bird to get exercise )
Hi,I have 5 budgies of my own that free fly all day, please get a bigger cage! Flight cages are the way to go.I love that u don’t use dowel perches because they can give your bird arthritis. I would recommend feeding them veggie’s because a all seed diet is very bad for them.
awe i just saw this a year later! im here to give some tips!! even though a budgie is a small bird, they do need a very larga cage! And i recommend getting loads more toys for them to play with! over all since this is your first bird you did an alright job!
And also lookin around for some bird toy websites! there are tons that are amazing! My cockatiel loves there things! especially there toy parts! so i can make my bird toys!
Although the cage is smaller then what most people recommend it's a really good start especially with the perches. Personally I think I diet Change would be more important with pellets (tops pellets and harrisons is recommended) and fresh vegetables.
I don't want to be mean i mean im happy you got a budgie congrats by the way but i birds always need another bird to have when they are alone they can get quiet mad because you aren't there and will start biting
