This channel is a repository for my old tutorial content. Some of this stuff is quite old so it may not be the latest version of the software you are using or even the most current method. These videos are not edited specifically for RU-vid and I often refer to elements that are out of context here, so if you are watching any of these videos and thinking why did he just mention that? You are not going mad! My hope with this channel is there will still be things here that provide value to the 3D community. I don't intend to support this channel beyond uploading some old videos so I have disabled comments to avoid any disappointment from my lack of engagement.
If you want to reach out to me more generally I am on ArtStation ubu.artstation.com/

Can't thank you enough for this video man! Spent basically an entire day trying to get speedtree models into UE4, then couldn't get the alpha to work on the leaves due to the "greyed out" thing you mentioned here. Thanks so much!
Having major Issues with FBX exporting in 3DS MAX. I tried every setting and even tried using scripts etc. to no avail. there was something that kept screwing up my UVs. I Finally ended up exporting the mesh as an .obj, then starting a new file and importing the .obj back into 3DS Max, cause I "needed" to vertex paint a weightmap on the mesh and obj does NOT write this information. Then exporting as an FBX 2013 it seemed to work now. Haven't checked for the weightmap yet, but I'm happy I just got the mesh to import correctly into UE4
Is there any way to mask with an actual black-colored material? I have a need to mask over an area with a solid-black logo, but I can't find any way anywhere to do this. I have it working with other colors (red for now, so I have a red logo against a black background, which masks out) but I can't figure out how to get the masking to work with any other color than black.
This was a tremendous help; thanks! Unfortunately, were I to implement the sub-object version of this, it would increase the number of polys on my model from 17 to....hundreds. Helpful, nonetheless.
