After you get the turbo for your Toyota 7, it’s probably worth tuning the gears to be as long as possible (just set the preset to 25). The car has so much power at that point that it doesn’t need short gears and you’ll spend less time shifting in general, not to mention the massive top speed increase.
Interesting. To be honest I haven't run this game in 3 years so I can't really comment much on that. But I know this route is far from perfect, there are many potential improvements here and there.
@@mooreanonumbers I see, and I realize you want to spend as little time in the menus as possible. But the car can likely reach 440kmh with longer gears on tracks like Le Mans if I remember correctly.
@@dust133 Good point. The Toyota 7 is one of the few cars where spending time to set it up right is worth it because you spend so much time in it. I just did not really experiment much with this because this because my main priority was getting the race skips working, those were by far the lowest hanging fruits.
Hi, it's been a long time since I ran this game so I am not sure. Licenses are a high risk low rewards section in Gran Turismo runs in general so I was probably just being careful.
It seems that Gran Turismo 1 is more of an arcade game compared to the rest of the series and for some reason the deadzone of the joystick is way too much, although it could be my controller.
@@sebastiankulche which is the year Gran Turismo 1 released lol December 23rd '97 was Japan release. May 98' everywhere else. I'm not sure if it was the Very first one, but it was definitely one of the first few...
@@sebastiankulche For GT1 and 2 I usually just tapped the d-pad, when I didn't have one of those mad catz spring-centered steering wheel controllers anyway lol I saved up my lawn mowing money and bought a Logitech force feedback wheel used from a pawn shop pretty shortly after I got my hands on GT4 and never went back... When I replay the old ones I usually stick to my original strategy of holding the d-pad until I've turned in enough and then quick carefully timed taps of press/releasing the button for the appropriate time to keep the steering angle. I personally always felt like I had better luck that way in the PS1 games at least. Adding the pressure sensitivity from the Dual Shock 2 to the face buttons for gas and brakes for GT4 was cool too, cuz you could get analog gas/brakes and analog steering, which got me to use the sticks more before I got the wheel... I never used the stick for steering before that really
That Toyota 7 sounds like a jet plane once it reaches the 300kmh+ mark. I absolutely love the attention to detail in sound design in this game. Hugely underrated aspect of the game imo. Hardly ever see anyone talk about it. Excellent run and this video definitely makes me wanna try and get the Toyota 7 at some point!
Holly shit i probalbly played a demo of this game once. I guess a friend of my big brother brang the game or a demo of it . I was 8 years old. For some reason i've always wondered wether this game actually existed or my imagination made it up... Guess i actually played it !!!
Couldn't you just....skip the last race? i mean given the amount of points you were already champion 0_o Or is my memory not serving me properly and quitting means forfeit of the whole championship?
I'm always worried about hardware and disc reliability on long runs(PS2 slims were not really built to last that long), I've always assumed not having to load music is suppressing one potential point of failure but don't quote me on it
World Classics with classic slow cars for Nostalgia value: Exists. Toyota 7, a race car technically in the rules: Hippity Hoppity, this Championship is my property
@@mooreanonumbers It's been forever since I played but I'm sure off memory you can do quite a few championships designed for Sports cars like a Corvertte C5 and enter with Race cars like an Audi R8 with just Sports tires and still be allowed. Seriously looking at this run it's amazed how many championships the Toyota 7 is allowed to dominate
I was going to make nasty comments staying you skipped some stuff, but after checking the linked guide it does not require some of what I thought was skipped. I would like to see how long it would take to 100% this game, in a speedrun fashion.
