The first lovely book you made only needed one strip of glue? Can you share how many pages of that nice paper you used in that one? And where do you purchase your acetate?
I really like this system. I had something similar but it was just in a scrapbook and not labelled. I am in the process of changing room purposes in my house so I will be adopting your method. I really love the spreadsheet. I have been intending to create one just haven’t got around to it yet. I threw out most of the stamp packages so I will need to go back through online orders and the Internet to find the ones I forgot the brand of. Thankfully some brands use similar drawing techniques so will be easy to find.
Hi Terri. Keep doing what makes you comfortable. If people want a different technique they can find another video. There are way too many for someone to tell you how to run your channel. With that said I would love to see you use opaque paper. You were amazing. I’ll be checking your schedule!❤
Hi Teri, you are too funny. When you were prepping your book I was thinking, wow the thermal cinch is bigger than I thought. I didn’t even think it was 12 inches. But you were very tenacious and you got it done. I am currently changing the way I store my stand alone stencils. I have a fraction of your collection. I have about 20 or 30 and am just using a 3 ring binder with page protectors to hold my stencils. I was impressed that the iron worked. Thanks for the video
Hi Terri I would love to see how you use the resist paper pad. I bought but, have not played with it. Thanks for all the info on the cinch I did buy one.
QUESTIONS: I need to learn more about these strips---can you design you own strips for your notebooks? Do you cut them to the size of your book? Looking at the center of the strip does that determine how many pages you can add? How did you get that lacy strip to look like that?
I am thinking about investing in this machine. Are there any tutorial on using this machine from beginning to end using those strips and putting in those acetate sheets I see you used?
I so also and I absolutely love the idea of your style book. I’m starting to teach students how to sew ages 9 to 16 I think I’m gonna create them some little books that they can put their ideas in. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hello I bought the thermal cinch and after watching your video I’m impressed with your top tips! I just kept hearing negative feedback and I think I’ll try it now 😊thanks Terri❤
I think my heating element wasn't working correctly I heated my books twice. They both had copy paper only a few sheets and pages still fell out. I wish I would have seen this video sooner. I returned my cinch today. 😢
Mines is the same way.. it took 3x”s to make 1 book to melt the glue.. I gonna keep mine because I signed up for the auto ship.. and I will keep trying..
If you make a book, tag me on instagram ! I would love to see what you create. Not to steal any ideas or anything (shifty 👀) 😂. @terrilisacreates on instagram… I rarely post but I do check instagram out a few times a week.
Thanks for the tips….I ordered of these to do homemade scrapbooks with scrapbook pages for individual events. Do you think you can do one with photos and embellishments.
I do. If you are using the photo directly into the glue, I recommend you make sure you have a good digital copy first. The embellishments will make the book thicker, so if you want the spine to be the same width as the other side embellish first, if you don’t care then you can make the book first. Happy bookbinding!
Thanks for sharing the tips. One thing, it makes no sense to me on the idea of wrapping corners. Why would you want to wrap the corners of the book, before sticking it in the machine? If you have enough glue, you do not need to wroap the corners of the book. The glue should do the job of holding the book in place, as well as the binder clip. You do not need the wax/parchment paper. you are wasting paper. Why make more work for you.
So the glue doesn’t seep out the side of the book. My first few the glue seeped out, messed up the outside, and the top and bottom of the pages are weaker because they have less glue. The parchment paper collects any glue that seeps out, just in case the edge tape doesn’t work. If you aren’t experiencing these issues, then you can skip those tips and just use the ones that help you. Happy book binding!
Did my first book today, love the tip using the tape to align the pages as I had a couple pages off. I also had to give it extra time to heat. Thanks for your tips.
Humm, that sounds like too long. I only put mine in for 1 extra minute. Maybe try another outlet and if that doesn’t work give the We R Makers customer service a call?
A door closing kind of stamping system would allow you to restamp any areas that don’t get full coverage the first time. A rock a block is ok, but really can’t offer that option when stamping.
You are so beautifully organized! I can’t imagine how many hours you put into setting up your room! I would love to have a craft room. Right now I have a space set up in my bedroom. Although I appreciate having a designated area, I really don’t like that the aesthetic of my bedroom is compromised, especially when I’m working and making a mess.🥴 I’m so sorry you went through losing so much due to a fire. That must have been quite an ordeal. Thank God that’s behind you now. Enjoy your beautiful room!
It was fun listening to your thought process. It would have been helpful to have the camera further away so we could see all of your great work. Thanks for sharing!
The glue is not supposed to go all the way to the edge. When it gets hot it will come out of the edges if the glue strip go all the way to the ends. They made it ¼ inch shorter by design. Also when the book is finished before cooling, it should be tamped down into glue again while the glue is still hot. Then let it cool for the 5 minutes.
I figured, but that makes the top and bottom of the book less secure, I give a few tips in my latest video to circumvent that issue. I also mentioned this comment! Thank you!
