How do you get the arc the bar travels in to match the position of the axle as it travels over bumps? With a big lift block between the bars and springs this wouldn't matter as much, since it would just twist the axle (pinion angle) a little without hurting anything. But without any blocks, I can see the axle and bars moving in different positions, putting a ton of forward/backward force on the bars and springs.
For $1800 don't waste your money. Missing parts and o rings, no instructions. Metal burs all over inside the charge pipes where they were ground inside where it's welded to the flanges.
@@JackAFlint thank you for sharing your experience with us. We weren’t unfortunately able to locate an order that corresponds to your username here. Please give us a call at the shop (630-277-8239) or shoot us an email to sales@wcfab.com so our support team can better understand your situation, help address those concerns, and make sure that we answer any questions you may have about the install.
Yeeeeeeessss!!!! Please make these available. I have an 86 down to bare frame restoring it and I wanted to do this so bad over the big block I have for it!!!!
@@aldoperez733 if your WCFab intake is the old style we offered without the air box that connects to a separate intake horn (stock or fabricated horn, not the 1 piece design where the horn is built in), yes, this new horn will be compatible - as long as you are still running a stock style bridge with the inlet on the driver side of the engine. If you have an aftermarket bridge with the inlet on the passenger side this new horn is too large to clear that combination. If you have additional questions or would like our team to help verify what you have, please give us a call at 630-277-8239 or shoot us an email to sales@wcfab.com!
Ok someone has to say it….if it’s an ‘87…it’s a V30 😂….that being said I have an ‘88 crew cab that I’d love to swap like this….DIY kit would be awesome!
Just seen ya video cool i like ya content and subscribed..i got a 80 gmc 3/4 ton and i thank im gona do that to it i got a 427 s.b 450 hp at the wheels but i also got a 77 high boy ford i mite do it have you done a ford wit duramax
Awesome, I reached out while watching this build series asking if they were available then. Interested for sure for 1978 Chevy K10 with LBZ and Allison setup.
Possibly! It's been our preference to body / frame swap them to keep the classic truck lines and combine that with a chassis and driveline that will hold up to the Duramax potential. Check out the link below and look for our Duramax Diesel Engine Swaps playlist to find more details about some of those past 67-72 projects and how we went about them: www.youtube.com/@WCFab/playlists Give us a call at 630-277-8239 to speak with our team about how we can help with your conversion project.
I've been wanting to dmax swap a c30 crew cab dually for a long time. With electric fans and a maybe a smaller intercooler than factory, will these swaps stay cool enough to tow?
We don't see many 2WD trucks through our shop currently, but if you've got a swap project that you'd like us to consider taking on, please give us a call at 630-277-8239 to speak with our team about what you've got in mind.
My dream project truck would be a square body crew cab with an LBZ, so yeah, a kit from you guys would save me a ton of fab time! Always love the builds and the parts you guys make!
Me id rather replace my 2016 front of the truck with a better lookin older 50s style front end that can with stand a large animal hit on the back roads cause I hate plastic parts that ment to protect the vital parts like radiators and gives it a older military look
Thanks for the feedback, sounds like a sweet project! You can be sure we'll share more info here as we get closer to release on our Duramax swap kit parts. 👍
@@McBurner007 we did not experience a check engine light during any of our R&D testing on the 2024 trucks. We also have one installed on our ‘24 shop truck currently for long term testing and many customers with 24’s running this product without issue. If you are considering our intake kit, we would suggest that you do familiarize yourself with the air filter life reminder message disable function on the 2020+ trucks (details in the instruction document link below) or that will create a message on your DIC and is the most common thing that customers miss during the install for these trucks: www.wcfab.com/files/Installation%20Instructions/l5p-20-full-intake_wcf100702.pdf If you have any further questions about this product or the installation process, please give our team a call at 630-277-8239 and we would be happy to help.
Great to see a build with this style truck. What options did you get to make it a builder towing rig because from what I’ve seen they are not really built for towing but more for hauling heavy load on the frame. Also, what trailer do you use?
@@ericwhite2474 we purchased this 5500 truck as a 4WD model with the intent of pulling our 44’ Intech Aluminum Gooseneck trailer used for transporting our pull truck to various competitions and also sees double duty for hauling show displays to larger events like UCC. In terms of truck specs, it’s a 4x4, 175” wheelbase with onboard air. The rest of the modifications made after we took delivery are documented in these videos except for the Calibrated Power tuning and Stealth 64 turbo upgrade which happened after the last video in this series was published.
Yes, the Banks Ram Air intake will accept the boot connection from our turbo horn for the LMM. If you were trying to put together that combination, look at our Stage 1 bundle (WCF100324), intake horn (WCF100412) and down pipe (WCF100703) as the best way to get the parts that you'll need for that installation. If you have any additional questions, please give our team at call at 630-277-8239 and we would be happy to help!

Final engine mods were not as involved as we had spec'd out at the start of this project. Truck received a Calibrated Power Solutions Stealth 64 Turbo and their Performance Tuning to go along with it. We know that our Exhaust Manifolds, Up Pipes, and Turbo Intake Horns for the L5P Duramax DO also cross to these L5D trucks as well as our 17-19 L5P Fabricated Coolant reservoirs as well. We may still do something in the future with an intake or intercooler piping as well but don't have an ETA for potential release on those items at this time.
Yes, our intention is to ultimately update our 3rd Gen Cummins Intakes to include an air box as well. Unfortunately we don't have an ETA for when that change will be happening, but you can be sure we'll talk about it here when they become available!
This part is currently in our queue for flow performance data comparison to stock parts. We'll publish those details to the product page on our website as soon as its available.
@@wadeturner2665 our team takes a lot of pride in the products that we build so you will find our logo on all of these. However, if you are looking for something a bit more subtle on your build, try selecting the PCTAGSAME option in the powder coat drop downs for the item and we’ll coat our logos the same color as the part so that they don’t stand out as much.
Hey, just so you guys know the hole that the hook goes through is actually too small for the sled that I would be pulling on it has to be 3 3/4 by 3 inches for the sled, I would hook up to
Appreciate that feedback! We looked at a sheet metal option but it wasn't in the cards for us at this time. May be something that we revisit in the future but we think you would be impressed with the quality of the part in its current form.
I bought an upper hose for my 2019 Cummins from yall about 1 year ago just now getting to install it but I lost the hose clamps what is the proper size to replace them with
