🌻🌞🌹 Bored of the usual vanilla, ‘Pollyanna-esque’ allotment/gardening vlog formats that saturate RU-vid, we decided to start our own, unique channel in 2023. Follow the adventures of our family as we navigate life on two allotment plots based in Devon in the UK. The Allotment Family Diary offers a light-hearted, realistic and informative look at the daily running of two large allotment plots. Chocked with dry-wit and lovingly edited, we film hours of footage each month to bring you weekly episodes that document life at our allotment plots, and sometimes outside of them. 🌹🌞🌻
Will everyone be getting chilli jam this Christmas? no heat they say blowing their noses, which I was relived at when I saw the toilet roll being passed around 😂😂😂
Oh dear, you've got me all nervous now, I have about 4 or 5 hot lemon pepper plants that I grew from seed this year. We haven't tried them yet as they are still in the ripening stage. 😮 Well, we will have to let you know our thoughts on that when we've tried it. I have about 4 pepper varieties that we're growing this year. Big Jim chilli pepper, Greek pepperoncini, hot lemon pepper and Italian pepperoncini. Looking forward to trying them all 😊👍
Wow that’s quite the selection! Do let us know how yours taste. I have tasted they in the ripening stages and can say the hot lemon isn’t as hot as the ripe version. I plan on picking a load before they turn and perhaps making them into sauce, rub or freezing them. Thank you watching ☺️
I have canned 25 half pints and 21 pints of habanero pepper sauce this season. I have also frozen 5 gallons of habaneros for using later. I love habaneros!!
First off 🫶 I hope you are all well ❤. Now wow wow 😮 wow the abundance is unbelievable and incredible. You have all done such a wonderful job you should be extremely proud of all your family work. 😂 what an awful thing to have a glut of tomatoes 🍅 but luckily those cherry ones freeze amazing whole. 4 😂😂 I’d do 1 🤦♀️. I am so impressed with your harvests mine are growing well but super slow to ripen. Have a marvellous week, hi Tilly hope you enjoyed the melon 🍈, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
The tomatoes are starting to slow down, and we’ll certainly miss them when they’re gone. For now we’re going to savour each one! Hope you have a great week too, Ali! ☺️
Oh my! I wouldn't ever be able to try those chili's!! I can't eat jalapeno peppers lol. I am curious to try the Not-o-peno peppers. They have the taste without the heat. When my chickens make that kind of racket they're announcing that they have laid an egg lol. Great video! Made me laugh!
Grew my first Melons and watermelon last summer in New Zealand, the difference we did note, was because they weren't chilled how lovely fresh they are.
Golly your veggies look great- mine all failed this year due to the heatwaves - my 2nd failed season - 2 years ago it was floods that destroyed all.☺ Brave eating peppers raw...lol☺
Hopefully, now there’s a sign put up the culprit should stop their thievery. But, it’s like you say, it’s more than just putting the hard work in. Your allotment space is what gives you space and downtime. All the best. 😌
This has been SO informative, thank you!! 🧰🛠 If you feel inspired to do a polytunnel build update in a few years about what worked and what you'd do differently I'm sure there's more of us who would appreciate that 💪 starting my garden soon & these early videos are great helps!
Best of luck with the garden! We’ll do an update next year as there are certainty things we’d change or do differently. Hopefully putting some of those into practice over winter. Ty for watching ☺️
Another great video guys, the swedes looked wonderful, that's one of my favorite vegetables 😊 your tomatoes looked very healthy as well. Looking forward to the next video xxx ❤
Thankyou. Tom is away so I have been watering his polytunnel and I must admit I made a cracking soup last night! Literally just 3 varieties of tomato, basil, 3 golden beets , a spoonful of tomato sauce and salt and pepper. I used our new air fryer to roast everything first. It was delicious! We do love to hear your comments. Tilly ❤
Omg loved your dad being involved in the vlog today ❤his passion for archaeology over the earthing of the spuds 😂. You, Hannah & Tilley are all great! 😊
They are purely aesthetic, although do help to define the beds. We show a tutorial on how to make them if you check out episode ten of our vlogs. Ty for watching ☺️
Morning all, I have not had so much white fly as I did this year and they are literally on everything 😢. WOW potatoes 🥔 and an archeological dig. Will you store the potato in hessian sacks? Awesome swede Hanna 👍👍 they are nicer small I find they get woody if they are too vif. Oh my look at all those tiny tomatoes behind you 😮😮. Have a marvellous day and happy gardening, Ali ☔️🌞🇨🇦
Yes, there seems to be a sudden explosion of the critters recently, and even had them in the poly tunnel! The smaller ones do taste better to be honest, and are great in a swede mash. Have a great week and ty for watching☺️
Have you tried contacting your nearest green waste recycling centre you would need a trailer but where I live they give it away for free the compost it's got some plastic in and it's a bit rough but I found it's good stuff to grow in
Fantastic idea, although sadly ours doesn’t do anything like that. Although it would be amazing if they did due to the amount of compost we get through! Tysm for watching ☺️
I swear these vlogs get better each time as does the editing. What giant pumpkins and will be great for carving and maybe pie! Thanks for sharing your afternoon all ❤
