Usually the Swedish historic flight Viggen would demonstrate a reverse thrust landing,reverse in the runway and full power take off from the opposite way it had taken off,But when I thought it was about to do that a J-29 Tunnan took the runway.
Up until about 10 years ago, there was a DC-3 or C-47 that made daily runs to and from a local airport Gere in So Cal. I would sometimes see it flying westward in the morning and then flying east at or after sunset. I don't know if it was being used as a commuter service or if some rich person was personally flying it to work, but it was a regular thing for a few years. Then no more one day. It was nice to hear it overhead.
We have different rules to the Americans is the biggest reason,But the biggest hurdle is for complex aircraft like the Vulcan and Victor is manufactures need to support the operators. As these airframes have all flown there recommended flying hours / fatigue life they’re are seen as unsafe to fly and no manufacturer will support them for that reason alone. Of course money is also a huge factor. For example the sea vixen that no longer long airworthy after a wheels up landing, Navy wings thought it wiser to spend their limited fund’s keeping the rest of the fleet flying rather than repairing the Vixen.
Could someone please explain to me why some DH 104 Devons (Dove) had the rounded edge on one side of the horizontal stabilizer and then a square end on the the other? 🤔
Duxford is a museum with an airstrip, wouldn't it be great if they moved all these up there, WIN WIN disgraceful how the Government doesn't really care about our success in jet aviation (World Beaters) once. Maybe they're embarrased about how they've destroyed it all.
Sadly the VC10 have been scrapped due to cost of moving it. The buccaneers have moved to Kemble. The comet and victor have been pushed to a clearing at the side of the airfield. The small jets like the lightning and Canberra still to static engine runs and the hope is to have a small museum in time but for the time been there is limited public access and no access to the runway, sadly
My last flight was casevac flight on a RAF VC10 from Hong Kong in Sept 1979 the front section of the aircraft was a hospital. Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Brize Norton, a long flight then.. Did many flights on RAF VC 10's. Sad.
Sad to hear about these planes are now being a bit neglected, I was there a couple of weeks ago, they looked ok, but not as good as in this video. and the guy said, he doesn't know when these will taxi again like they used to do, what a shame 😢 Hope they can have them back taxing again in the future?

How the heck did that pilot allow That to stall and lick a brick. “I have never seen that before” The Registration Must be changed, because it was Defiantly A G- “Jinx” I do hope the pilot is recovered ok, and of course that landing was a Huge Kick to his confidence! I remember them from the late 60s together with at least three-four other jetfighters types in the Swedish arsenal-in those days we built roads, houses, industries, and jet fighters in a well-organized society (and what happened with the old idea from that era to man the UN with jet fighters).
It certainly would have.but these aircraft sadly are no longer airworthy. So it was fantastic just to get up close and feel and hear the power of these historic and aircraft. Especially now since A car auction company has taken over the the airfield, some of these in the film have been scrapped.
That’s a shame, it was an amazing show before that happened, glad he is ok, he landed it like a paper plane..ooof. Perhaps Juliet India November Xray is asking for trouble tho...and don’t know why, but Five Miles Out was running through my head right up until he fell out of the sky.
