Just think, on the other side of the Pacific all that water that was being sucked out in CA was being pushed ashore in Japan. One of the most fascinating things watching the Japanese footage is the power that pulls all the water back out *after* the first big wave and surge came and had gone so far inland..all being pulled back into the ocean. I find the power of gravity pulling the water back out more incredible that the incoming current. Never underestimate the ocean.
this is just another day, twice a day on the Bay of Fundy and in my city we even have a river that reverses itself twice a day at it's mouth as well. cool video though :)

Yes. I use the SPOT. Very basic but rugged and does the job. Never had to use it for an emergency.... yet. Using it mostly for check-in messages to the family. It generates a text and email with the OK status and my long/lat.
It looks similar where we surf here in Scheveningen (Netherlands). Best waves come in fall or winter, together with strong winds. But still surf scene is growing bigger and bigger overhere
Anyone know of places to surf around Stockholm? I moved here from California and grew up surfing, so I feel weird when I can not surf. Please help hahaha
@natro3 I just used the mount that came with the camera. A couple of months later it did fall off. I would still rely on that mount but maybe complement with some glue around the edges. Also, they now have a float device for the camera. Could be good.
We had been at the pier and got to the bridge as the second push was in full swing. It had drowned the beach south of the river mouth. This was around 8.40 or so. It was definately more dramatic by the river mouth since the surge would compress right there. I know the sand was there earlier as I walked past and looked out over the south of the pier.
at 3 min... did the Capitola beach sand spit all erode suddenly? or at 7am? ? river usually goes side shore to the jetty before entering ocean. what were the actual elevations? on oct 17th 1989 big quake I was standing at water line at 26th, and the quak quak quak sand [didn't "open up" thank god] seemed to "go out" a few inches, like the land grew [flat waves that day and ...nothing
