Hi folks, This clunker was a little more of a challenge than I first anticipated, so we ran a little over ten minutes. I'll be adding this biface to the rest from this series for the giveaway. As always, I really appreciate y'all watching for flintknapping supplies. Hi folks, this Flint River Clunker was rather un eventful. The material has a dry appearance, but it knapps fantastic, so reducing this clunker to a nice biface was pretty easy. THAT is over the top for Buff River. BR is nice stuff, often enough, but I've seen nothing like that. Only 40 or so pounds of BR into learning to knap. Amazing! I must think you'll show the heat results.
Hi folks, This piece of stone was just too awesome not to share. Thanks for watching. For flintknapping supplies, check out our website flintknappingtraditions.com Also, for quality, American made leather goods. dannycollinscustomleather.com
Really useful video. I have ruined some slabs with direst percussion recently. I now have renewed hope after watching you do it with indirest percussion. Thank you so much!
Hi Folks, this is the conclusion of episode one, and I'm pretty pretty happy with the results. This was pretty tough stone, but it does have great tensile strength, and I had no worries of breaking it. Curious...you don't ever seem to have to hit your rod very hard.what am I doing wrong that my rod gets bent and I have to stop and hammer it straight? Also can you explain the different angles I see you doing and what effect does it have once the flint is hit?
Hi Debbie, you want to be sure to strike the rod near the work piece. The farther from the tip you strike, the more energy idms losed. Also, try preloading a little pressure. I'll make a video showing my platforms, and I'll thr to explain angles.
Debbie. I'm sure Dan can make some videos that will help you understand. But in the meantime search Jack Crafty Angles & Platforms. Its video number 477 on his channel. He does a series of videos where he explains everything out pretty good. I learned alot from it. I'm sure you can too.
Hi folks, It's been a while since I've knapped a percussion slab with indirect percussion on video, so I thought I'd do that instead of a clunker video today. I was expecting this hornstone to be buttery goodness, but it turned out to be dry and harder than woodpecker lips. I appreciate you watching. Hi folks, so this was a pretty fun point to make. I've never made a Simpson Mustache before, but I've wanted to for a while now. I picked around on it a bit of camera to fix some symmetry issues, and overall, I'm pretty pleased how my first one came out although I do believe I should have brought the sides in more. I also think on the next one, I'll try to improve the flake scars on the base. It doesn't necessarily matter, but I think it would look a little better. I appreciate y'all. Quite impressive! Good work at showing conservation of lithic material. If that is catching your fancy at the moment than im sure microlith and blade/blade core technology will as well.
Hi Folks, I thought I'd share with y'all the latest version of the Overstreet Indian Arrowheads price guide book cover I just finished up for my friend James. Hi folks, I sure do love to chip some Rainy Buttes. After bifacing the clunker from episode six, this clunker seemed to knapp pretty nice. I'll add this biface to others for the upcoming giveaway. Patrick sent me a big box of chunky clunkers of various raw and HT materials last year. I knapped every single peice I was able to get a point out of. So I kinda got decent at reducing the clunky stuff. Id love to win this box.
