@@bubble007jack I know this song and I like it very much. English is not my native language so it's hard for me to understand the lyrics. Could you help me?
I worked with Starvin' Marvin at KNAL Radio in Victoria, Texas back in 1988. He did mid-days and I did afternoon drive. Such a super human being and great friend.
Wow ! Been trying to find this everywhere for years , after hearing it only once before , on radio . In 1960 here in Australia , Lonnie Lee , an acclaimed Rock "N" Roller , had a massively successful chart topping version of this number which , although much like this great original issue here , was expressed in a contemporary pop music style with resonant backing harmonies and rich orchestration . Some 20 years or so ago I met Lonnie Lee who I found to be a charming and affable person , yet when I told him that I'd heard this Portuguese Joe original , astonishingly , he reacted with a surprised demeanor , asking me how it sounded because he had not himself ever heard it ! ! Incidentally , I think Lonnie is still performing , doing the club circuit .
I heard Dixon was a real bastard, supposed to be a bad person and took many credits from Chess when in some cases wasn’t even involved….and by the way Ernest is slapping the bass it doesn’t surprise me if Dixon stole his slapping technique as well
@@bubble007jack This is my grandfather, Harley gene Taft we were able to play this video at his funeral in June of 2022. We miss him and pray his music lives on for many years I would love to be able to purchase this from you if at all possible. Please get in contact with me
Sorry for your loss. This 45’rpm is very collectable among true rockabilly collectors. And I’m glad I could help in a way I did. Sorry record is not for sale. It took me while to purchase it. However if you try ebay or Discogs I think sooner or later it will appear. 🙏
This is the only 45’rpm I have by him. I bought it from Mack Stevens. You will find him easy on FB, he’s a record collector. Yes this sure is a great rockabilly 45’.
Brittany, that makes us distant kin. He was my daddy's first cousin. His mom was my daddy's aunt. My great aunt. I remember when she used to come spend the night at our house when I was just a little girl.
Damn the only video for this single. Dylan was right, he does sound like Johnny Cash. Rusty died on December 5th, 2015, for anyone wondering, he had quite a career. edit: nvm, there was one other upload, not with the actual 45 though.
Doss Tipton is my neighbor. His house burned two years ago and he lost the only copy of this recording he had. I am trying to locate a copy to buy. Anyone knows where I can get one for him, please email at rocketlarry47@gmail,com. Thanks
