i break up in tears since my childhood every time i choose haven and simply click on the city, i dont even know why but it just always makes me so emotional. the saxophone solo slowly fading into the opera part... ahh the goosebumps, the memories. it is definitely, one of the greatest video game music pieces ever, i cant even describe it with words, people might dislike this game for having too extraordinary and experimental mechanics or graphics within the other HOMM games, but no one cant argue about the soundtrack being warm, cozy and so welcoming <3
Only civilization in the game in which 1rst level creatures have more in attack than 2nd level creatures I guess (studies should be done) + 1rst level creatures hit twice
Gothic 2 was my first rpg and the feel of it was fantastic and that was largely because of the music. Producing music for new games with such memorable touching music is beyond even large studios. For example Bethesda never was able to match and surpass the music that was written for skyrim in their newer games. Still listening to "Gothic 2 Noc Kruka - Jarkendar" a fitting song for the sad news.
People say the Groundshaker is what first comes to mind when hearing this theme, and I can't help but concur. But I think a lot it's due to an interesting juxtaposition: the Groundshaker is boss that's all about pure power and energy--deafening noise, shaking earth, gargantuan size, and so on. But this theme is distinctly quiet compared to the other boss themes; you might even say it's hollow, or empty. In many ways it's very much the opposite of what the Groundshaker is, so it definitely stands out more than usual. Just another show of musical genius from Shimomura-san, I suppose~ It's one of those things that compels me to study music by ear, and how it synergizes against the other elements in a game.

i don't understand why and how the town design went from homm3's harmonic and realistic design into this mess where the buildings are just planted randomly across the screen without even an attempt to make it look like an actual functional living space. the music's the only thing in the series that remained good after homm3.
