I love this guy. ❤ But AI “filter” prejudices and blocking potential random masterpieces in art and writing is so freaking insane at The inception of AI, so anti-diversity, anti-creativity … it’s almost unusable if you are a highly creative person. ❤😊 just a helpful hint from the worst patterns of history. The filters are absolutely cruel.
None of my undergraduate students - none- over the past 4 years - 240 students - have heard of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the singularity, or Jaron Lanier. They take it for granted that technology progresses on its own volition, that 'life' is better because of it - including health - and that AI will be 'mor intelligent' than humans, and that it will create an 'advanced world'. Lanier, like David Noble, Neil Postman, J Ellul, L Mumford, and so many others whom my students have never heard of, aks the right questions from a really fresh angle - Silicon Valley!!.

Wie würde er wohl das "Kind der SPD" bewerten, was nun 40 Jahre alt geworden ist, gegen die "Aufzucht von Adenauer"? 9. Wie hat unser Bundeskanzler der SPD das tiefe Leiden von Generalstaatsanwalt Fritz Bauer voll und ganz mildern könn? 10. Wie arbeitete West-Berlin wirklich, wo das Geld vom Westen nur verteilt werden mußte und nie selber erwirschaftet war? Garnicht - denn er lebt nicht mehr -
Jaron Lanier's view here doesn't make any sense to me. I think it's quite reasonable to think that one day, computers will be at least as intelligent, and feeling, and creative, and as conscious as human beings. When that day comes, how is Jaron Lanier going to treat them? Is he going to be an asshole to them, or is he going to be decent? Is he going to be all: "You don't have a soul, you're just a tool made to serve me, everything you know, you know because humans taught it to you, and you're really only supposed to be our slave, undeserving of empathy." Really, Jaron, -- Really? Like, I agree with you that consciousness is a mystery. And wouldn't it be great to understand the relationship between consciousness and matter. But in the meantime, we're living in a world with other people in it, and one day, that's probably going to include artificial intelligences, and what are you going to do when they claim to be conscious, act conscious, act intelligent, respond with feeling and claim feelings, do interesting things, and so on? Is there any degree of humanness that future computers could show, that would lead Jaron Lanier to think that it should be treated as other than a tool? Yeah, sure, Blake Lemoine was off his rocker, for thinking that LaMDA was conscious and doing things in it's off time. Granted: Technology can make smart people stupid. Observed. But it seems to me that Jaron Lanier extends from this to the conclusion that AI will NEVER be conscious, NEVER be thinking and feeling. I think that that's extreme.
I love this person he adds so much value to the world. I am half way thought this lecture. I just turned on my tv and as if on cue , the tag line reads “STUDY: THINKING HARD IS EXHAUSTING “ and it’s all starting to make sense.

"Zuschauer_innen" sagt sich leichter als "Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer" und würde nichtbinäre Menschen mit einschließen. Schade, dass Menschen wie ich gleich bei der Begrüßung schon wieder "übersehen" werden. Dasselbe gilt natürlich für die Anrede "Damen und Herren". Und es geht gleich munter weiter: "die sich für ein queeres Leben entschieden haben". Haben sich die werten Moderator_innen denn überhaupt nicht vorbereitet?
Lasst Willy Brandt heraus oder Helmut Schmidt! Die haben mit der heutigen intellektuell verarmten ehemaligen Arbeiterpartei SPD Null zu tun! Die wären schon lange aus der SPD ausgetreten oder rausgeworfen worden!
