I’ve seen varied reviews but all I know they seemed very knowledgeable at the expo and had a big selection of very healthy looking snakes. I bought a ghost pastel that looks similar to yours and she’s the sweetest thing.
The same thing happened with me and my corn snake! I have a blizzard and he just suddenly started shedding without warning! Now he has some stuck shed.
What if the snake has stuck shed on its head? I just got my snake yesterday and he was stuck in a shed when I get him, I don’t really want to stress out my snake please help
My snake has cloudy eyes but because my parents have had to take care of her for the past year I’m not sure if it’s left over or she is about to shed. She is not eating so I wonder has it been there for a while. Any advice? Should I just go ahead a try a soak or wait? Also what advice on plastic boxes do you have?
Thanks for the help man! I just got a second young ball python that had stuck shed when I got her, but this video helped me go about getting it off her. Much appreciated!
Atrociousbear 219 there isn't really such a thing as a Tame snake. There's just different temperaments. It all comes down to how much interaction and handling the snake has and is used to and well of course, the snake itself. It's pretty common to have a snake that's used to being handled and acts the typical Happy Noodle then a week later pulls the 180. You only need to get one bad bite to remind you to respect these awesome little guys and gals.
Hi, I'm getting ready to purchase a corn snake (53 days, I'm counting down! Lol) and I have most of the things I need except for a heat mat and a thermostat for the mat, but none of the pet stores in my area sell thermostats, I was wondering if you've ever been to expos and if you have do they sell thermostats for the heat mats?? What price ranges have you seen?? Thanks!
One Direction corn snakes do not need any special lighting or heat. Heat mats just help with digestion but they can digest fine without. If you live in the arctic or upper Canada or Russia than I suggest a basking lamp
Thank you so much for this video! I've never owned a snake before and my snake was in stuck shed and I did exactly what this video told me to do and her skin came off almost in one piece! Amazing! Thanks again!!!
My snake has been having trouble shedding for a couple of months and we don't feed him regularly (which is horrible) bc we don't usually have the extra money and I'm extremely concerned. How do I keep the humidity right? I have a lamp like they sell in pet stores on his cage and it stays on for the day time and it's shines on top of his turtle shell he hides in. He will scrape the surface of the cage with his face to help and I do have a rock and a branch in there and it seems to help sometimes, but I'm extremely concerned on how to prevent this shedding problem in the future. I am going to put him in a warm bath tomorrow and see if it helps, but can anyone help me for now ?
Meme Machine I would definitely try to feed atleast every 8-10 days. Also is the enclosure a glass tank with screen lid? if so cover most of the top with a towel, that will help hold humidity in. do daily sprayings of water aswell. Also try to get a temp contol under tank heater like heat tape or heat mat, just make sure you get a temp control or thermostat, otherwise it can burn your snake.
Kena yeet hey I know this is an old comment but please tell me you're now able to keep a constant feeding schedule with your snake. Not aiming this at you but I've always been annoyed at people who buy pets without budgeting/making sure they can afford to provide everything needed for them. As a pet lover who's owned, sold, bought and bred lots of different animals it was infuriating getting a call from someone 2 months after I sold them an animal asking if they could return it because they either couldn't afford to provide the proper food/living requirements or the novelty of the animal was gone. I've even been given dead animals I bred as lineages back asking for a refund. (In this case Mini Lop Rabbits) After inspecting the animal I noticed it's ribcage was broken and after some questioning I found out the owner had stood on a 3 month year old rabbit till it died because they didn't want to buy food for it after they realised the cost. Needless to say they were told to leave and I forwarded their info to the police. Sorry for the rant I just hope you're in better circumstances now financially for your snake.
Mist it with some water.. Not sure if that needs to be treated water, would be a good idea. Another way is to get one of those humidifiers that sprays in like a mist cloud. Put the water bowl under a heat source if you can but make sure it doesnt run out of water because that will happen at a way faster rate.
Don't mist it with water, sure once in a while but this can create mold, I've put eco earth as a base and then wood chips, whatever you like over the top
My ball has some stuck shed on his head. I have had my baby for 2 weeks and are starting to get where I can hold him for 20 minutes a day. But since he is a new snake how do I get his head shed off?
I recently had to help my Boa constrictor with a bad shed. I replaced all of his bedding. literally everything I have in his enclosure. His humidity/heating is okay the way it has been for 6 years. Now, I soaked him in a warm bath and got all of the shed off of him except for where it starts. His head. It's been weeks and I can't get it off or even peel it by rubbing his face with a wet cotton ball or swab. It's been months since he last ate and him assuming it's because he has that tightening skin on his head. I raised the humidity to help but he's so stubborn he won't rub his head on anything. His eye caps are still on and it makes it look as if he's dead sometimes. Please help..
MostWanted GAMA it sounds like you've tried about everything you can. Have you taken him to the vet? At this stage, that's usually your best bet for the safety of your snake.
+CDKK REPTILES how can i possibly keep the right humidity i have a tank and don't want to switch i try in cover 85% of it whit cardboard so all the top isn't full of air I've added wet sponges she wan in shed when got her two weeks ago eyes blue and clear right up and she hasn't shed a pice of not one, she rubs her head up again everything like she ring but no luck, i spray her down anything i can do, she was hatched n may so this will be her 2nd shed 1st since i got her, tried handle her today to give her a bath but she was mad hissing and all so ima waite till tomorrow till my friend can help me, i heard to switch from snake bark to coco, and that even in a tank with a screen lid that it would give them all the humidity that they need, but I've heard it gets stuck in there mouth and its like glue they will never get it out, so what if i switch from the tree truck hide to a plastic one and used to coco in the hide in the reptile bark in the rest of the tank HELP PLEASE
You can use wet coco coir, with daily mistings to help with humidity untill she sheds. Also drape a towel over screen lid, will hold humidity better than cardboard. Also along with all that a larger water bowl on warm side will help aswell.
what brand of coco should i use that won't get stuck in his mouth when he eats, and for now will the reptile bard work with me spraying it until i get the coco
thank u. im going through my first shed with both my snakes and my butter has a bit of a stuck shed on his dorsal but his head is clear. and i noticed my female bumblebee is also in pre shed....
Silver Bullet You can soak all day if necessary, just watch the snakes temperament and if he/she seems stressed out then remove the snake, I'd give it 5-10 to adjust before deciding if it's too much for your particular snake
lol omg skye is the grumpiest bp i have ever met. the only bp to ever bite me, and every dang time i take her out its a load of hissing, and strikes. lol but she is pretty. ive tried working with handling with her with 0 luck. oh well lol i still love her even tho 1000gram strikes are hurtin a lil more than when she was only 200 lol. thanks for watching :)
