This channel is all about photography and videography. I really love playing with light, so there is a lot of light setups, either in home, outdoors, or in a photo studio. I have gear reviews, do-it-yourself, and DIY builds. I do photo retouching, and I even share my knowledge of how to shoot or edit videos. Basically, I like to share my tips and tricks from my years of film and photography.
I bring a sheet of black wrap to control the light spill from my off camera flashes. And I always bring some bright red gaffer tape for markings on floors and the feet of light stands to prevent people tripping over them.
Simple video, 100% helpful. I've been stacking stuff in my M13 trying to get this sound to no avail. You've rectified my trial and error methods with solid pointers. Thanks!
In one of my classes my teacher had a still functional kodack A-3 camera. It uses 122 film and I want to get into using it but it costs like $100 for just the film. It’s still really cool though
That’s really cool. Yea, if I recall correctly, we had a bit of a tough time finding film for the shoot for this video. It’s kind of hard to come by these days.
Thanks for the compliment. I don’t know if this is “better” haha. I personally love the gradient look as well on mirrors. But, this is a nice option to not have to do any photoshopping.
You are not interesting enough to yourself, you find yourself interesting and the rest will follow. Hop out of this barrier thats been build up around you keeping you blind to things way more beautiful than you realise right now and let loose. Life is not serious. Something told me you need to hear this.
premier pro should just have a download to make it feel like the same workspace and keyboard short cuts. I know I could do that and figure it out slowly but that would really help me switch.
Hello Austin, greetings from Turkey. It means a lot to you to share your knowledge so generously. I would like to make a small contribution: Someone else can record the video while you explain the set-up. Thank you for your efforts
Wow. I just stumbled upon your channel, and you were the only one able to deliver EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. A side by side comparison for premiere rush vs final cut on the iPad. Thank you so much!!
Great post ,weḷl done ! Could you please propose an alternative that is as strong and portable , but the light can be remotely fully adjusted through android app ?
Thank you for another great video! Question about the second styleout, with that light to the right of the camera that was gridded and diffused for the inside of the cabinet door, the modeling light shows a harsh shadow to the left of the cabinet. In the photo that shadow isn’t there, is that because once all flashes are fired the key light eliminates that shadow?
Thank you! And yes, you’re seeing a hard shadow because I only have the modeling light on for the light I was explaining. And since it was at such a low power, as you correctly pointed out, the hard shadow from that particular light would’ve been filled in by the other lights. :)
@@austinlindsay i send video like this to my customer, becose he think , to make photos like this, need just a camera. Not 5-6000 usd lightning, 4-5000 equip. and 5/6 years of skills
@@austinlindsay yes, but with canon 1100d, and 18-55 , you cant do good job, some teenager with iphone have better photos, so need a upgrade, and fix or prime lenses
What a bad luck for beginner photographers like us...RU-vid never ever recommends channels like these without specific keywords. I literally found you in a fb group. Shame on the youtube algorithm.
Thank you. Man, I wish I knew what exact keywords to add to put my videos higher. I’d love as much exposure as I can get. But, I’m happy you found the video. And thank you for your kind words.
@@austinlindsay Actually when I want to learn about lighting, usually I use some generic key words such as “product photography”, “hard-light photography”, fashion photography etc. but it never showed your channel. RU-vid always suggests some useless channel and never these type of channels like yours. I assume you should take help from people who are experienced about ranking channel. Cause your channel is gem.
@IshtiaqueAhmed-ew6yl very interesting. I like that “hard light photography” one. I hadn’t thought of that before. I’m gonna add that. Yea, I probably need to find a social media guru or something to help boost my content. :)
If you have the money, new can be good, if you need some of the resolution, or frame rates, etc that new items can provide. But, I’m still using my 5d3 without any issue for paying gigs and hobby stuff.
Watched a couple of your videos and i'm really enjoying them. Quick question about the photos shown at the end of your videos, are they used to showcase interior design spaces or are they product photos of different furniture items?
Hey hey. Thank you for watching. And for the kind words. The photos are to showcase the items within the space. Just about everything in there (chairs, plates, rugs, vases, glasses, etc) is sold on the companies website.
Guys if you purchase the Godox AD-B2 bracket it has built in LEDs which makes bare bulb useful for using the modeling feature on the flash. It's crazy bright when using two flashes set to level 3 on each flash. I love it.
That's amazing, thanks alot, I am going to photograph the exact same and your videos have explained it well, will use the exact same setup, I was just wondering the power of the light used across the room is how much?
Thank you. I appreciate it. 🙏 I don't keep track of the power of each light, or the lights overall. I just start with the camera settings I want (in this case ISO-400, f-7.1, SS-1/50th) and then I turn the power of each light up individually till things look the way I want.
Really nice high key look 😍 I love your approach, I'd like to recreate that on location but I dont have vflats. Is shooting thru silks can have the same effect?
Man I love your job 😀 For the sunlight, why don't you raise your light a little to have the window frame acting like a flag? I see so many 3D and AI out there, I really please to see real studio still exist. Awesome work!
Haha. Yea. Ifs a fun job. :) It’s been a while since I shot this. I’m not sure why I’d didn’t change the light. I probably liked where the light was falling overall and didn’t want to mess with it, so that’s probably why I needed up using a flag.
Posted 3 years ago but answered my exact question today. I always find myself going back to your videos. I am trying to figure out how to blend constant with flash for interiors (outside of the studio). I wasn’t sure which light to start with. This helped a lot.
It is nice having lots of lights to use. But, you definitely don’t need Profotos, and honestly most of the time I only used about 3 lights in my day-to-day sets. I really only filmed videos on sets that seemed more elaborate.
