I have a passion for messing around under the hood of mechanical watches. I try and restore where I can, but what I really enjoy is taking watches destined for the rubbish bin and completely rebuild and modify them into something new and unique. Stick around through my watchmaking journey and, hopefully, get you into the hobby as well!
Sorry to be a Thread Necromancer, but do you happen to have the service chart for the FHF 66-9 movement? I am working on a vintage Invicta that has this movement in it.
Really cool video! But considering you can get an NH36 for under 50$, regulate it and swap the grey movement ring with the black one of the 7S26 and it will fit plug and play, while beeing more shock resistant, has less fricton, being more accurate and mainly has handwinding, servicing a 7S26 seems pretty pointless...
You are touching that movement with your hands, this is the first time I see that someone handles the watch without rubber finger covers. Yes, you put them on afterwards, but I guess you did that only for the camera.
The dried sausage (droe worst) to others Is my favourite past time snack,Not abundant in Scotland but their are SA butchers here and there do a grand job.👌
Fantastic job. Allow me a question. I don't know how to say it in English, but the wheel screw that goes next to the barrel cover, that screw that always goes the other way... on this occasion I seem to see that it doesn't go the other way. Does it go in the normal direction in this caliber? Thank you.
lol i learnt another thing about seiko movement's today i was just servicing a 7S26 and noticed a bit more end play on the mainspring barrel like yours had i used my stacking set to make the hole smaller and the middle part of the hole is replaceable as i found out hitting too hard lol i then had to just get a donor from another seiko and replace you live and learn every day cheers
I have that same watch in my storage locker. Actually I have about two or three other Seiko's in storage as well. Seiko is my favorite watch brand. Accurate and not a wallet buster, and they do look good as well as wear well. I used to have a Bell Matic in my small collection but I don't know if I still have it. I do however have the Seiko quartz version of the old Bell matic.I'm not crazy about the quartz though. For whatever reason I was never crazy about it after I got it. Weird but true.
i have a Seiko 'Black Knight' Kinetic for 20 years. i wear every day. HOW DOES THIS WATCH GET SO SCRATCHED? even the back? did they carry it around in a bag of rocks......
Hi again, I have 3 similar ones, and one of them gives me a little problem with the soft spring action of the shiny lever which helps the date ring stabilize itself when the date just changes. I see on your video (20:30-20:50 or so )that you install the spring the same way I do but mine does not even seem to offer any spring action. Do you push it up a little and it does not show ? It can’t be done anyway ! My lever goes in and stays in there sometimes ! Any commment would be appreciated before I settle for the way it is ! Thank you.
Very nice, I have the same one, got it brand new ! Got it into salt water in Martinique, rinsed it within one hour, took it all apart a few years later and have it running eversince ! Great watch, nice video, thank you.
Any idea on the back story to how this watch got damaged in the first place? Was the crown left open? Gasket failed? Or did someone just randomly find it in the water?
I have an old seiko pepsi I've had for many years its pretty rough non working. How much is a rebuild such as this id love to get it back to something of a watch again
Hi there. Loved your video on this skx009 job. Wonderfully serviced watch with great skill. I wonder if you can give me a hint on mine. It worked just fine until a few weeks ago. It fell to the floor, no aparent outside damage, kept working just fine. Then it started to stop by no reason and now works for less than a minute and stops. And something on the inside sounds “losse” when I gently shake. Any guess? Thanks a lot. Rui
Same watch I have had for 4 years, it was making a noise when shaking it also, I took the case of and found the flywheel loose too. After that I accidentally touched the balance spring trying to speed it up a bit.😱 now it Don’t work at all. 😥🫣🤔
