Jesse Johnson definitely deserves more recognition for his own iconic sound which was pivotal in forming the overall Minneapolis sound with Prince.... they're both guitar playing musical geniuses!!!👍😎👑❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the most funkiest guitar players in the music genre period! Some people think that Jesse Johnson is just as good as my dude PRINCE, and that's fine. However, PRINCE was possibly on the level of Jimi Hendrix in terms of his skills. PRINCE could lock funky guitar riffs in the pocket on the same level as the cats in PARLIAMENT or The JBs! Jesse Johnson is also brilliant and talented without a doubt but PRINCE was groundbreaking!
I love me some Jesse Johnson … I wish he put another funk albulm out … Revue, Shockadelica, Every Shade of Love, Verbal Penetration, Bare my Naked Soul, not to mention folk he produced for Janet, Debbie Allen, Ta Mara and the Seen, Da Krash, White Man Can’t Jump, Pretty in Pink … honaay the funk is out there not to mention my favorite B side … Free World oh and Strawberry Shortcake on Shelia E’s first albulm and just recently I learned Ms Sue Ann child her vocals remind me of Ta Mara and just as hard! Jesse! I miss U!!!!! Can’t you tell lol … Ima a FAN!!!!!!
THAT WAS AWESOME AND IMA KEEP IT REAL 4 A MOMENT.....IN TH BEGINNING OF TH VIDEO, TH WAY DUDE IS '''''MOVING AND GIRATING''''' W/THE GUITAR, I ALMOST DIDNT TAKE THIS VIDEO SERIOUS, I THOUGHT IT WAS SOME KINDA ''''COMEDY MUSIC SKIT''''''BUT AS I KEPT WATCHN, I DISCOVERED THR 2 TALENTED PPL
Look, I'm just gonna go ahead say this.... for 40 years I've listened to Prince and I've also listened to people who try to sound like Prince (bored to tears). I've never stopped in my tracks for anybody playing Prince...until now. This IS Prince. I can't even call this a "cover" it's so spot on. It's the most spot on I've ever heard. All of Prince's sonic cues are here: that percussive pop, the counter-pop of that "talkin'" bass, the cadence, the drum programming....everything. It's incredible how many musicians screw this up in playing Prince. It's very simple but it's very layered...and you're obviously replicating it all in your frickin' living room no less. Some people cook and some people merely follow recipes. There is a difference.... and y'all cook jus' so ya know!
