Wonderful interview , thank you . I do have a lot of respect for Sam Maloof , and. . .for Rene Russo as well . Together with praying for wisdom It is also wise to pray for consciousness . Wisdom is a useful tool to be able to handle consciousness. Cheers!
A great craftsman and an even greater soul. I think he is gifted but so are lots of other woodworkers and its not fair to call one person the greatest, I also think Mr. Maloof would agree to that. Have a nice day. One other thing, the peel he made at 12 is great but they (peels) have been around for a long long time. I think people exaggerate or blow things out of proportion to make something or someone greater than they are. Just my humble opinion though.
You have no point, that's the point. You have a preference for an artist/craftmans that's a nice guy - and that's fine - but personality is not a criteria for an underlying skill or talent. Maloof was a unique guy and his workers and others have learned some of his skills, but, they will never have his talent. Therefore, there is no successor to his body of work. Capeesh?
Thank you for your most invaluable insight. I never realized my opinion meant such a great deal to you, for you to negate what I think of Sam. Sad you lost the entire point of the video, letting your ego get the best of you. You must be one of those "acclaimed RU-vid critics" of peoples personal views and opinions.
Ego? Buddy, you're the one saying a "TRUE" artist is noble and modest. Nonsense, I said. True artistry is about talent/skill and nothing more. You choose to attach a likeability factor to people and make judgements of that than anything substantive. This is failure of objectivity on your part. Some people are too thick to admit these things, but, i'm done here.
My wood shop teacher told me about sam maloof. He told me that they had to move his house for a freeway. Sweeet I heard his house is very close to my house in chino hills. Sweet!!!
