Hi i did this to change my pearl white couch to white and the guys i found are painting with the proper professional procedures and they have painted and coated my couch a large number of times but it still Keeps cracking and revealing the original color in those cracks after a week or so. Anything to correct this issue?
Good video, but this looks more like a paint going on top of the leather, rather than dying the leather a new colour. Is that the case, and are there different processes for painting vs dying? Thanks.
Thanks for your comment, a couple of things. Dyes are transparent and pigments are opaque. We never use the term 'paint' as it has all sorts of connotations, we prefer recolour or refinish. In this video we used pigments which are opaque and will cover. For example, you can change a black leather lounge to white using pigments. Dyes are used for an aniline natural effect. There are definitely different processes.
Really like your video. In your opinion what is the very best leather stain to buy? I am just retired commercial painter. In my trade the best paints were always the most toxic. I see leather stains are acrylic now. I live on an island in southeast alaska. No stores here but I can get Amazon/ mail. In your opinion what product do I go with? Great video!!!
The Leather Industry is very eco-friendly - for you, always use water-based products purchased through a well-known leather chemical company such as STAHL. Most leathers can be recoloured, but a full aniline will be easiest.
I hired someone to do this job and just realized I made a huge mistake….she didn’t prepare the leather or do any of the steps you did … my sofa feels rough and cracked I don’t know how to bring it back 😢 !!
@@MrJose790'm considering changing my brown leather couch to a tan color. If you don't mind, can you please explain what you mean by 'downgrading.' Thank you.
Hi Darryl, your video helped me when I repainted my sofa 3 days ago. I absolutely LOVED the change and my sofa looked like a brand new sofa. unfortunately, after I coated it with a 4 coat urethane satin layer, it became dull and streaky and has ruined my wo derdul pai nt job. please help me, can I either remove this r urethane layer without ruining the new paint OR can I just repaint another layer of brown OVER the top coat and then just NOT paint a topcoat of urethane over this new layer? will the paint hold onto urethane OR do I need to remove the urethane layer? Can I may be use the deglazer to remove this Or will it strip the paint? I am so depressed cos it looked SO good yday before I added this horrible urethane layer on top and No one seems to be able to help me, not even the company I bought this from so I thought I'd ask you. Thanks in advance 🙏😊
Beautiful! We just got two maroon colored couches, wondering if we could color them a light gray? Or do you generally need to be going darker than the original color?
