Great video! Very well explained. I got my 96 wagon to start in Neutral (sometimes and not). Had the tumbler replaced in my 93 years ago. Sadly that was the first of other electrical problems. When smoke started coming out of the vents the last time it didn’t start, my mechanic told me it was pretty hopeless. I’m hoping for a better future for this car.
I am working on my son's 2003 buick centry. First, i took it to a mechanic, and They told me it was a fuse and starter wanted to charge me $900.00 plus dollars. So we towed it home. Charge the starter and it worked. Until we drove it and we are back at square 1. No crank no start just dash lights. I am going to try this tomorrow. Thanks

Cool. Trouble shooting this electrical issue with Intermittent instrument panel Replaced a burnt out wire and bulb, and still same issue. I did replace ignition switch, with no trouble starting or anything. So I'm going go over everything from lights to grounds and I'm not ASE Certified 😭. Thanks for info

Just wanted to say thank you! The vehicle has been having an intermittent noon starting(cranking) condition off and on. Finally broke when I was at church Saturday. RadioShack wasn't open. But I did troubleshoot all parts. And ended up taping the wires to my spare key using carefully placed electrical tape and it's back up and running great! Thank YOU so much for posting this fix!!!
Bruh no way. I just rebuilt the cluster board desoldered and resoldered all the bulbs and nothing. Please tell me its just a bulb. Eithe way thanks for the information
Thanks for the tips. I just overhauled my buick 3.8L cam magnet broke, crank sensor was bad, and leaked oil and coolant all over. Went to crank it to prime the oil pump and the starter won't engage and wasn't sure if the pass key has failed so now I know how to do a bypass test and what to listen for👍 Also possible the starter is bad from sitting over 5 months.
Did the bypass work? Same issue with me on my 97 Buick Regal LS. Replaced the crank shaft position sensor, then a week later I started getting this security light issue. Also , the Trac light comes on too. Probably will try the bypass technique like on the video.
My dash lights are out and the speedometer doesn’t even work. What is wrong with it? Everything else is on and running but the whole dash. I have a 2016 fusion.

I have the same car and suddenly drove for years with no problems then a week ago this happened soldered in a resister ( resister was from a electric stove display which just luckily was the same amount of milliohms as my key 1.8. Carefully unsoldered it and soldered it to my 2 white wires car started right up actually have a extra on hand. Thank you again 👍👏👍😎
Buicks are not worth stealing my mother will be her 2002 Buick Century custom when she died I received the car that car is not worth fixing I put more money into this car than I have put in a total of cars in my entire lifetime I've had nothing but trouble with my 2002 Buick Century custom the worst vehicle I've ever owned
anyone knows what the problem could be? Audi A6 C4 1996 suddenly the speedometer lights went out along with fuel gauge, fuel gauge always says the fuel is at 0
