remember a golden rule when working with ics an microcontroller. USE SOCKETS!! if something goes bad you just replace it and you don;t need to desolder all those pins and destroy the pcb in the progress :D

also you could use those long 40 pins aliexpress female connectors and cut them to size and you save some money :D

Yeah I got some of them but turn out they are round and don't fit my pins. I also got the sqaure ones that you can't cut in various sizes, so I'm gonna use those in the future. Thanks for your comments 😀

@@RistoInnovates you can cut the square ones but you cut in the middle of a pin sacrificing it so the next pin has a wall

Great video! But the same music every time any sort of timelapse plays is incredibly annoying over a 40 minute video. Especially when it just stops for a few seconds and the fades in again immediately.
@RistoInnovates
@RistoInnovates 13 часов назад
Sorry about that. I'll be sure to find a better solution or use a different format next time 😀
@skyslycer

@@RistoInnovates No worries! It's part of the way. In my opinion you could just let the current music continue. When you are not doing a timelapse the music is really nice and doesn't repeat itself. Maybe just continue that music instead of forcefully changing to the other track.

I know this is very scary, but try soldering SMD components. its not that hard and get a hot air station for desoldering them.

I think flux helps with de-soldering. Makes it easier to flow the solder, and it doesn't solidify as quickly when you bring the solder sucker in to pull stuff out. A friend of mine recommended the Engineer SS-02 solder sucker to me. It's quite a bit better than the other solder suckers I've tried before (1 from Aliexpress, 1 that came with a soldering iron). Now that I have one, I think a quality solder sucker makes a huge difference. Suppose you're not too worried about that now that you have a de-soldering station.

Awesome project ! I've been looking for the footprints of this multiplexer PCB, I need to design my first midi controller PCB using the same muxers, and I'm struggling to find it, could someone give me a pointer by any chance ? Thanks !

@Tuna-on-a-bagel

Hey mate, when desoldering, put your boards in a clamp vertically so you can get to the top and bottom at the same time. Solder iron on one side, solder sucker on the other. You can get a better seal on the solder sucker and it will work almost every single time, no more headache
@g45h96
@g45h96 2 дня назад
An easier way to remove larger components with multiple pins without a hot air station is to form temporary solder bridges between the pins, so you can flow multiple pins at once. Trying to desolder and not have that one tiny bit of solder still holding the pins will make you tear your hair out
@ventiladordesuco

There are special aolder alloys that lower the melting point of aolder, you just add it to the solder joints ao you can have more rime desoldering it

I don't mean to hate what you have done is magic but after watching, the timelapse music got a bit boring. I think you also had a few to many timelapses. I also thought that the top down camera was a bit to far away.

@@RistoInnovates my thoughts exactly. the soldering is very boring, we are here for the story. Show what you are doing, maybe a close up or two, but I don't think all the soldering should take up more than 5 minutes throught the video, thats a stretch.

Cool project! I just wanted to say a couple of things. In min 17:00 you can kind of read the text messages on you phone, maybe it doesn't matter but I think you should be more careful, and zoom in more because it is very far away, I noticed that you recorded it in 4k, also for future reference, if you can't re-record some parts you could use digital zoom to see the details more and upload it in 1080p instead which is totally fine. And when doing a timelapse, you always restart the music from the beginning, for example, in min 24:50 you restarted the song 4 times in less than 2 minutes, I think you should either continue from where you left off or use different songs each time because it gets very repetitive. I think you could easily halve the length of the video without compromising on information and making it more entertaining by speeding through some segments, especially all the soldering. Also it would be nice to see a little demo of it working at the end. Hope you continue the good work 👍

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to write this comment. I am definitely taking notes, and I will try to outdo myself and up my game for the next video. I was trying out a different format for this video, but you are right - the video could be much better if it was half the length. Thank you
