I’m so glad you specifically gave a shout out to the Brian Payne and Michael Fitzgerald Troy art team up! I think this project was the first time I saw Brian’s stuff in color (which already looks good in black and white), and MFT’s contribution really elevates the work. They’re one of my indie comic art dream teams now. Also, there were SO MANY cooks in this kitchen, and Michael managed to do the impossible by bringing everyone together to make this cohesive and delicious feast for the eyes. 🔥

Thanks for the review Daniel. A few comments... • Ben Perkins not only did all the line art, but he also provided all the coloring and all of the display SFX (but one) in the book. Honestly, he should've been credited as co-letterer as well! • You were 100% correct about the logo - the 80s Chrome Vibe is where we started, but when Ben's cover art came in we all agreed that going with something more minimalistic made sense to give the artwork the shine it deserved • On the opening page...I felt pretty good about including a PSA about violence and anger management. Although the book is a fun and violent sci-fi tale, we (as creators) have an opportunity to share some info that might make a positive impact on someone's life (outside of pure escapist entertainment) • It wasn't noted in your review, but the use of Comic Sans was intentionally tongue in cheek for the two pages that it appears on.
Always a pleasant surprise when I see a video! How did the art change by issue 2? I was really bothered by the switches. I like the book though, and really like Choice.
I highly recommend AD&D: Adventure Gamebook #4 by Terry Phillps, also titled The Soulforge, as a companion piece to reading this. In it, you get to play as Raistlin goes through the test. It won't fix all of your issues with Weis' rendition, but it touches on some of what you felt was missing here!
You guys handle it however works best for you...I iike the way it's going, personally. It's not perfect but I think it works better than publication order, but thats just me. :) Great video as always!
Eddie is Metalhead and Xi’an is Desert Ghost. Bloodhawk…I don’t remember if he ever had a real name. My quick opinions on all of 2099: I never really read Hulk or FF. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the art in X-Nation 2099. Ravage was ok. X-Men, Spider-Man, Doom, Punisher and Ghost Rider very very good. X-Men takes turns would not expect from the very beginning and never stops being unpredictable.
It sure if you’re up to date (or up to date to Krakoa at least(, but Shakti is in present day, and survived the fall/isn’t in the WHR. Cable brought her to the past, she joined the Marauders. Shakti/Cerebra is as my favorite X-Man of 2099. I THINK Xi’an starts with the “sh” sound. I think.
Tony's art gets the most mention out in the world (and is well-deserved), but the guy is also a BRILLIANT IDEA MACHINE. An entire world inside a video game manual? Insanely fun concept! And he lands it entirely in Attaboy. BUY THIS BOOK!
X-Men '97 has reignited soooo many X-Men rereads for me. The Claremont/Byrne run. The Morrison/Quitely run. First Miller's mini and then '88 Wolverine. That cartoon is powerful!

I’m live commenting again… I don’t know if we ever see anything else on Twilight. I’m on the lookout to find something about that book/character.

Kevin is creeeeeeepy. I'm curious if he gets let's creepy as we go along. Thanks to your videos, I'm following along and re-reading myself. I'll watch and enjoy whatever order you go, and I felt the same way about this order at first, but I've made it a little further now, and I'm starting to get the chronological feel and I'm liking it. It does have moments like 5 Freex issues in a row, and all 4 Exiles (I haven't gotten that far) but they sort of...make sense? Maybe? I don't know...by the time I got to Freex I was into the order.
RE: the cover; I think that arm doesn't pop because it frames Prime's shoulder and arm in a way that keeps it all looking pretty normal. It doesn't impose on Prime's figure enough for it to be seen. Along with it being mostly covered by the title and the Ultraverse "U" and box. The cover mostly looks like Prime is angrily shitting a torrent of blood.
I see that comic book in a nightmare on elm street 5 dream child.A character name mark, has that comic in the scene where he inside in his room reading, his comic books, and tried to stay awake.
I think during middle school and part of high school I probably had more NOW comic titles then I did Marvel, DC, or image. I definitely had a bunch of these terminators, I'm pretty sure I had this one, I definitely remember that cover. I also had several issues of their Twilight Zone series.
sweet box of comics. i'm a big Silverwolf guy too, got a hold of some Grips, Edge and Legion X-1when i was a kid in the 80's. they made quite the impression on my young psyche.

I’m venturing away from your Ultraverse videos, which is how I found you, and the first is this one. while I haven’t read the book, I was a HUGE fan of Night Breed as a kid. I just started your video, but I’m sure it will be great. I’ll come back when I finish. Edit: oh! Night Breed was also my introduction to Clive Barker. Have you read Marvel’s Clive Barker imprint? I think called Razorline. Just checked, separate to Razorline, Marvel publisher a Night Breed comic under the Epic imprint. Have you read? I wonder if it goes further than the novella and movie.

I agree with Aaron, in that I liked issue 2 a bit better than 1. I'm just really ready for the "weak woman" and the "I'll use my sexiness" to calm down a bit.
Ooh, Juan Jose Ryp art in that Avatar/Robocop book. Dude was a star for them and still does work, here and there. His stuff is really great. The way he does hatching is really intersting and must be RIDICULOUSLY time consuming.
I absolutely got the Extensive Enterprises reference! I had not read Premier #0 until last night (I’m following the same list, inspired by your videos)…I really liked it as part of the Prime story. That may be because I had read Prime #1 multiple times and never Premier, so it was new…but I liked it. Edit: I actually do agree though, Prime #1 loses something if Premier is read first. So sorry you had a bad week!
