Accent aside, Anthony was genius in Frasier. I think we could have excused him using his native Aussie accent as the long lost brother who moved to Australia from England. Would have been still believable
I listened to this clip, again, after reading all the comments about the accent of the actor playing the Simon character--they're right! It was obviously a Cockney one he was attempting, though it should have been a Mancunian one, like his sister's (in reality, Leeves has a 'posh' accent). But even his Cockney one kept going off and on, but the producers probably felt a Cockney one most suited his slobbish character, though being oblivious to the discontinuity it created. It would've been interesting to get Leeves' take on it. Not to split hairs, but Leeves' Mancunian accent, for the Daphne character, is a bit caricatured and affected. I just listened to her speaking in her normal, 'posh' accent, in an interview, and it was weird, to say the least.
I love Frasier's reaction upon learning where Simon found his shorts at 0:30. As pretentious as Frasier can be, that would in fact be the same reaction I would have.
Daphne's family were outright insufferable. They made the entire season kind of hard to watch. They weren't "funny annoying", they were just "annoying annoying".
Completely agree and I'm glad you added the end sentence because every time you say they were annoying people jump in with "bUt ThAtS wHaT mAdE tHeM fUnNy". Noooo. They weren't funny. Just annoying!
I wish someone make a good quality compilation of scenes with Simon in it. I mean, Anthony Lapalia really did deserve that award, he was hilarious in Frasier.
Why has the Simon person got a weird cockney accent? He's supposed to come from Manchester. Americans are quite dim about this sort of thing aren't they?
@@xanderharris1104 That's not a reunion just a dumb reboot without most of the original cast. They're talking about a real cast reunion with the remaining cast members together talking about their memories of the show and all that like Friends, Fresh Prince and Martin had.
The best part is when Frasier is flirting with Daphne's friend and she ends up kissing Simon and Frasier yells out, "He's got a cold you know!" and storms out.
I remember a scene with Anthony where the actress who played Niles' second wife had to cover her mouth for most of his performance to hide her laughter. I guess the director figured no one would be looking a her so they didn't reshoot.
He was one of the best things about the show. ..I read that Anthony LaPaglia was really nervous coming in because he'd never played comedy before--but he sure nailed it !
I can't remember what the line was but basically they are trying to say he was the favourite brother "who's that then? I'm talking about you! That don't sound like me“
