Welcome to New Chapters. My name is Sarah and I just want to say thank you for joining me for this new chapter of my life!
In a former chapter, I studied criminal justice and worked several jobs in the field. I loved working with the criminal justice population and found a way to bring my passion for teaching to my work. But I found my thinking and perspective never aligned with those of my employers and led me to burnout quickly.
So please join me for this new chapter exploring my favorite hobbies and discovering new ones (because my current hobby is never my current hobby for long!).
I intend to talk about diamond painting, digital planning, reading, card making, baking and decorating, gel manicures and nail art, along with any other hobbies that might pique my interest. I hope other hobby hoppers can find a community on my channel where you don’t have to choose just one creative hobby to enjoy and discuss.
🎤 I think I do prefer your old format just because it makes you feel more "real" for lack of better words. I never mind when people in their WIPs say "ummm" or can't get thoughts together because Im pretty sure we are all like that 😂 That said, I also didnt mind this way! So if thats what youre comfortable with you should do that. Last minute drop ins literally drive me insane for the same reason.
I appreciate your feedback. It feels a bit more awkward reading from a script, so maybe once I get more comfortable with this format it will feel more “real” again. Or maybe I will scrap this new format altogether and it won’t matter anymore. I’m shocked by how little time my stories took up when I was able to just read them out loud rather than needing my brain to multitask on speaking and diamond painting. I’m glad to know I am not alone!
😴 I am definitely no dr but my daughter has a lot of hyperfixations. It could be autism (she has), ADHD, OCD, depression or anxiety. Basically, anything 😂 That said, *I* have what you have in regards to cleaning, cooking, eating. I also have autism (high functioning, most people wouldnt know I have it) and some anxiety and depression. The depression is what causes the lack of will to clean, cook, do basic things. I dont present my depression in ways I assumed it showed it self. I don't necessarily feel "down" and didn't even realize I had it until diagnosed. I'm now on a low dose of medication and don't struggle as much with daily living. Since the dr bit isnnt an option for you right now, maybe you can try and keep a little list if that doesnt overwhelm you? Do just one chore a day. Monday you can vacuum, tuesday you can do some laundry, etc. I find having lists is a little less overwhelming and helps me so that Im doing just bits and pieces here and there instead of wondering what to do and knowing I have soooo much to do. Then I do nothing. Keeping in mind sometimes I keep lists and look at them and still do nothing. haha.. that's when I give myself grace and tell myself the dishes will be there tomorrow and it's ok to rest and do nothing,. Try too be easy on yourself. Mental health is hard! (so is keeping my words to be a minimum, apparently).
I greatly appreciate you commenting and sharing your experiences! Eventually I’m going to need to get true diagnoses because I know some of my “signs of xyz” are definitely forms of masking for my underlying issue(s). I wish breaking chores down into a daily list was more helpful for me, but every time I’ve tried, I just find that my accountability to myself doesn’t exist! I’ll stick to the list for a few days, maybe a week, but then I go back to avoiding all of the necessary chores again. The thing that truly motivates me is procrastination haha When I have other tasks that I’m avoiding is when I am the best at tackling a long cleaning to do list! I think the giving myself grace part is where I need to focus some more energy-not feeling guilty about not getting a task done when I told myself I should/would. But I have to be careful to not go too far and let that be an excuse for myself to lounge around for a week (or more) avoiding the chores until I literally can’t avoid doing them anymore. But I am glad to know I’m not alone in this regular struggle (which from the outside looking in often seems so easy for others to overcome, if they experience it at all)!
📺 I was in 98% totality here where I live in NY but 4 hours away in Niagara Falls we had 100%. Unfortunately, it was cloudy. But it was cool how it was sunny and turned dark!
I’m glad you were still able to experience some of the phenomenon even though it was cloudy. That probably made it even darker than it would have been! I thought it was supposed to be cloudy in my area too, but after some early clouds, the sky cleared out just in time for the peak of the solar eclipse in our area.
I'm a week behind but congrats on 100! You're at 119 now. I hope you found peace in quitting and hopefully something new comes along! 🥚 * edited to add, you don't want to know about my messy life right now 😂But I love watching a community build.

I’m glad you enjoyed listening! Shoe shopping can be so frustrating. I’ve always been told that any spot that is uncomfortable will “wear in” eventually and it won’t hurt anymore, but that’s never been my experience! And then my feet just hurt all of the time! Hopefully your daughter has found (or will find) shoes that are comfortable for her. I’m hoping maybe I found something this week to look forward to on the job front, but nothing is 100% yet. I’ll definitely have updates in my upcoming WIPs though, so stayed tuned!
I use glue dots also & sometimes struggle with the drills sticking to either the pen or the canvas. I do the trick of dirtying the dot by rubbing on my sleeve or on my skin. I notice you press the drill 3-4 times after you put it on the symbol. Is there a reason for doing that as I haven’t noticed others in their videos doing that. Not being critical, just curious. You’re laying your drills down very neatly & in line so they are so straight. I struggle with that!
Yes! I’ve found that rubbing the glue dot to “dirty it” on my clothing to be super helpful too. I think this particular dot wasn’t as effective because when I first put it in my pen, I had been replacing my poster putty and some of the poster putty got mixed in with the glue dot. I had the glue dot pop out a few times when I first put it into my pen and I don’t think I was careful to make sure I was putting it back in the same way each time, so it’s really a mix of the two sticky mediums. It’s also been very humid where I am, so it seems like the glue dot is a bit tackier and while that makes it stick to the drills, it seems to have a harder time sticking to the cold metal placer! (Though that’s just a theory). In terms of me pressing the drills multiple times, I think that’s just the perfectionist in me! I’ll place the drill down but then feel like it isn’t centered enough so I’ll adjust it a little and then feel like it moved too much so I’ll push it back the other way. I didn’t use to do it with the sticky end of my pen, but I have been doing it with my broken diamond painting pen. When I have one with two functional sides, I will flip the pen around and push the drills around until I am happy with the placement with the single placing tip that is standard on most pens (without having any wax or putty in it). I’d bet once I start using a new pen, my glue dot will last me longer and behave better since I won’t be repeatedly taping the sticky part on the drill to make minor adjustments!

I’m glad you found it helpful! If you plan to work on your canvas with part of it still rolled up, I would recommend leaving the plastic cover sheet on the rolled portion initially. If you are able to work on the canvas flat, you can use cover sheets over the whole painting, but I found when I rolled the canvas with the release papers on it, the release papers bubbled and pulled away from the canvas more than I wanted.
Thanks for your feedback! I believe you can make cool cards too! (Truthfully mine don’t always turn out as professional looking as I’d like them to, but the process is a fun creative outlet for me anyway, and handmade cards aren’t supposed to be perfect!)

Loved your video i am working on a canvas from the one with the diamond art and its confetti i do like a mixture but the picture is coming on great thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you so much for watching! I’ve heard confetti often times makes an image even clearer and more detailed in the end, so hopefully you find your end result is worth the confetti! I’ve never done an image with large sections of color blocking like this one has, so we will see how I feel about my single placing technique at the bottom of this image. I may have to start multi-placing. Or stick to kits that only have confetti to keep it interesting for me!

Thank you so much! We will have to see how long they stay organized. I may have added several more kits to my collection since filming (and am definitely eyeing a few more) so I’m not sure they will all still fit under the closet shelf once I get those new ones out of their shipping boxes!
