Hi...I took 7 hours to reach the cable. And going down 4 hours going down to our camp ground. Up and down the same not easy coz of lots of stairs too. Perhaps its better one week before the cable up. This year we did June and Nov 2023. On June, the snow was still a bit thick in the steepest area at the sub dome so be prepared with your crampons too. Good luck n be safe.
awesome video! I tried it about a week ago (early December) and the wall was iced out, only made it 3/4th of the way up the cables before deciding to turn back! The sun was starting to melt a lot of snow and ice so large chunks were falling over head.
Stopped here on almost 100 trips from L.A. to Carson City and back. Easy access in good weather and a nice place to take a break. I liked to call it Mirror Lake. Those were the days. 🤡
g.co/kgs/6zBGYS thats the google map of this area. When you arrive find the trailhead, its a loop so you can start to the left or right. But my advice you start to the right and becareful with the trail if snowing better turn around anyway the views are beautiful all around. You can do fishing too. But for campground please reserve in advance. Its Bishop area California. The all traConvict Lake Loop on AllTrails www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/convict-lake-loop-trail?p=-1&sh=qjtzmmil
We did it during the cable down, if you notice ? Permit was canelled due to the snow, we did go and hiked up during cable down, its hard and dangerous, july 5th will be better coz the cable up. You can bring a small backpack to bring up your important things with you. I left my backpack and trekking poles at the subdome. Enjoy and be safe
The hike was hard n a very long hike. The nevada falls trail was close on going back so the detour was very hard n longer. Steep stairs, stronger waterfalls n narrows stairs was very hard. But beautiful
The weather at night it was very windy, we started early so its helpful to reach the Reflection canyon, but otw back it was very very hot. Its just like never ending hike. But beautiful
@@ginifierro so u did the hike for only 1 day? We’re planning to camp & spend the night over there & then go back in the morning. I was wondering how windy it was at night time. Thanks for the reply. Yeah that place is on my bucket list for long time.
@@LuvSucculents we did stayed one night at the car, both of our car have camper so we arroved at 11 pm then slept, next morning we hiked in early so before 9 am we already reach the destination. When hike out it was hpt already.
@@LuvSucculents It was really windy good think our friends they stayed in their campers, me n other friend decided slept in the car coz too windy to open our regular personal tent.
We stayed one night at the Inn then next morning start 3 am, arrived at 4.15 am and left the car at the hilltop parkibg lot and started hiked in 4.30 am. Be back next 2 days after tx God my car was ok
We checked in the forecast not too cold and in the reality it was cold maybe 40s in the morning much lower in the evening, the water too said alws 70s, no it was cold very cold. But yet beautiful so better go on March or warmer days. Like right now it really very cold, snow n very wet.
Bravo! Nicely done video - a little heavy with the effects(!), but still really beautiful video that captures the grandeur of Mt. Whitney, and the challenge of the summit.
@@ginifierro Gini your video is great! Just suggesting that the subject matter is so spectacular it stands well on its own without razzle dazzle. Did not mean to sound critical. I enjoyed every minute of it!
