Appreciate the video brother. I saw this kit and how they’re not riveted like the ones I’m used to, but it seems like a nice kit. I’ll be trying it out on my JL. While driving to my hunting area, nothing is worse than branches constantly pounding the winsheild
Im not using the impact to set the torque, just to get them on. I always use a torque wrench to get the correct torque. Too many ugga duggas will stretch and break the studs. Never have had any issues the way I do it. YMMV.
How were you running 3.73 gears on a Rubicon model? From my understanding....,all Rubicons from the factory (back to the 2003 model which I have owned for 21 years now) are equipped with 4.10 gears from the factory. How did you end up with 3.73 gears? Confused!! Regearing my TJ here in the near future from 4.10 to 4.88 with new 35-inch tires.
Not all of the JK Rubicons have 4.10s. If memory serves, the standards had 4.10s and the autos came with 3.73s with an option for 4.10s. I still have the gears and can double check.
I cut all of the drivers side out and on the passenger side vent took a 1 inch wide strip out of the bottom on the engine side top to bottom. It still directs water away from the battery, I also taped off the factory drain hole because I didn’t bother to put the hood insulation back. I had the Jeep out on a cool rainy day recently and you could really see how much heat they let out by the steam coming out after driving through a puddle just before parking and shutting off the engine. I have considered putting a rubber flap over the battery and completely cutting out the passenger side.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, that's basically what I did and it was crazy how much heat was coming out of the driver side vent. The rubber flap is a good idea, might have to try that in the future.
Opening the vents makes a big difference. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I used waterproof screen on mine so the water still drains off to the sides and out of the hood like the oem configuration. Also noticed your oil pressure seems really low. My '20 JT idles at 30psi.
Thank you! That's a great idea and I did see a write up where someone used that. I wanted to do this a "free" mod, as I only paid for the trim and that was cheap. As for the oil pressure, old school rule is 10 psi for ever 1000 RPMs, so it should be fine. My JL also has the 2.0, so that could be the difference. Anyways, Thanks for the comment and Happy Jeepin!
Yeah, it was a lot of wires and connectors. Like I said in the video, the main issue was the style of connector. They come with a lot of kits because they are cheap and fast to use, but there are a lot of better options out there.
Great Video . When i clcik on link it shows 2018-2020. I have a 2016 like u did just wanted to make sure they will still be good for mine. Also if i upgraded to the premium. slotted rotor do u think they would work as well
Yes, you want the parts for the 2018 to 2020 Jeep JL. You can definitely add drilled and slotted rotors for better breaking. I didn't use them for cost and I wheel in a lot of mud/water so I didn't want a lot of junk getting between the rotors and pads. That's a whole other debate, but that was my thinking. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe for more Jeep videos!
@tonynevarez3836 I'm not sure, but it would make sense if they are. The Dana 30/44s still use a 3 bolt pattern for the hubs, so that part should line up. If you find out let me know! I'm kind of curious now.
Well all done only did the the fronts and had new stock calipers and lines for the back. The jl dust cover didnt fit so trimmed stock cover .thanks again for the tips and vidoe 30:52
Thanks for the comment! I know the ZJs , XJs, and WJs are definitely in the minority, but they can be very capable rigs. My issue right now is the trails I want to do are too difficult for my tire size. So it's a list of upgrades I need to do and no money to do them with, lol.
@@KJsProjects I'm rocking 255/75/17s or 32"s and won't be upgrading till I can get long arms and go up to a 6.5" from my current 4.5 I just don't want to cut any more fender than I already have cuz I did the flat flares on my XJ already
@tke1006 Yeah, I'm on a 4.5 inch lift as well. I want to run 35s and long arms, so I will probably need 5.5 inch springs. I'm worried my axles won't take it, so I need to upgrade those as well.
@@KJsProjects So I'm going to end up trusting mine. I've got a high pinion 30 in the front and I'm going to be putting a buddy's y's eight and a quarter in the rear. Pat, I'm running ZJ CVS up front ain my d30 one because they're really cheap and if I break anything on the trail I can just pull it out and I don't have to worry about it busting my knuckles
At 9:56 you said that the radios wouldn’t talk to other GMRS models, I know what to meant as far as GPS map sharing. For others, the radio will talk to any GMRS or FRS radio. Thanks for the video. I hope you do a future one with a friend showing your friends location on a downloaded map.
Correct! I was referring to the extra features this radio has regarding mapping and text messaging. The actual GMRS radio will talk to other GMRS radios. I can't wait for someone to get one so we can try it out.
I used the J Scan app and an OBD2 bluetooth connector. J Scan has an ABS bleed function in it. I just ran the program, it tells you what to do and which wheels to bleed.
Thanks for the video. Just a couple notes from my experience- The screws loosened at the 2:20 mark hold a bracket that has tabs that lock it into the frame. The brackets need to slide out, towards the outside of the Jeep to remove the bumper. I fought for 30 minutes. I'd have new screws on hand to hold the lights. Both of the reflector screws I reused sheared off. Cheap screws from the factory. One of my lights needed some trimming but I suspect it's the bumper not the light.
Thanks for the comment. I will say it was frustrating that one side needed trimmed to fit, but they are still working great. The one side with the cracked lens has no condensation so I am guessing it just cracked and didn't break completely.
@motownXJdad9565 Awesome, I have always loved the 2 door XJs. I'm on 33s as well and have loved how it preformed. I wasn't able to get up a hill with open front diff and was able to get up it with the volvo locker in. The best part is you can't even tell you have it on the road. I don't daily my ZJ, but it's about 20 miles on road to get to the trails. Setup was also very easy with the gear install, check out my video on it if you haven't. Thanks for Watching!
Can you add new cats and exhaust system for Warthog to your list? 😂 If we’re doing a truss kit, you’ll need new ball joints as well as the heat will toast them. I thought Artec also made a diff skid but I can’t find it. I’d also recommend control arm skids axle side and frame side. They’re sub $200 and those are the lower points I see people get stuck on all the time. Saved me a lot of damage on Caboose. I can’t wait! Now just to keep Warthog road worthy that long 😅
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to redo this video with my new Jeep. I thought I didn't have this issue with the new jeep and higher quality lights, but I was wrong. I guess that's one con to using satellite radio.
Thanks for comment. It is the factory steel bumper from Jeep. If you can find one, I recommend them for light to moderate wheeling. If you are going to do tougher stuff, I would suggest a quality aftermarket one.
@kungpowlarrydadzilla7959 Thank you! Honestly if you are on 35s you can do the mod pretty easily, especially if it's dry. I run 33s STT Pro (great tire btw) and am locked front and rear on my 97 Grand Cherokee and can do mod without too many issues. Eventually I will step up to 35s on the ZJ and then it will be no problem at all.
@kungpowlarrydadzilla7959 Cool cool! I started out on 30s and no lift. The stock rides are fun and they are typically the same trails just down hill as opposed to up. Just be warned, once you get the bug, you're almost never satisfied. See you in the trails!
Sad it happened! I don't use the disconnect but rather have the relay positive cable wired to my MicTuning Switch Panel through which I have to turn on so that the winch is live. This is a good option for you!
New subscriber and nice looking JL! I am still rocking the JK Rubi. What brand antenna and mount brand did you do with? I am using a cheap amazon fully adj hood mount with a Tram dual band NMO style 20". It works pretty well up here in MT but am also interested in going with something like you have for "out of town" ventures. 73! KK7IXH
This is the antenna I am using. NR770HBNMO Mobile antenna 2m/70cm, NMO, 40in a.co/d/iD7698N It seems to work really well. Thanks for the comment about and subscription! KE8RGS 73
how come yours in the front above the light have that ugly weld across ? if you look at the ones now that people install that ugly weld across the front light isn't there now ?
Not sure. Could be a different batch or a different person made them. Personally I don't notice and they are really nice fenders. 10 out of 10 recommend. Thanks for the comment!
I painted them. I recommend using a brush over spray as it's more durable and they have special hi temp paint for calipers at the Austin parts store. Plus red paint gives you 5 extra HP or something.
It’s amazing how far we’ve come over the years. I ran 37s on my JT non Rubi with just a 2” spacer in the front before going to a 4.5” lift. My wife’s JLU sport has been on 35s since 2018 on just a 2.5” spacer lift all the way around.
Would RF blockers work on LED pot lights? I found that when I installed new LED potlights lights in the kitchen my wifi in the BR above the kitchen and old radio we use in the adjacent dining room dont seem to work too well anymore.
I believe they would. LEDs tend to make a lot of RF interference (not sure of the scientificreason). The local gas station has so many that my FM radio almost completely cuts out whenever I pull up to the building. I would do some tests to make sure it is the LED lights and then try the RF blockers. Thanks for the comment!
Actually the EAG fenders were about $200 for the front new and I found the rears (never installed) for $100 on Marketplace. This was more of a, can I do it and wheel. The short answer is yes, the long answer is a lift will wheel better, but sometimes it's not in the budget or someone's skill set. Thanks for the comment!
