Haven't seen it yet, but cartoonish, over the top gore is fun for Halloween. Something bright and colorful with crazy kills can be good to get in the mood for a party
Seeing the trailer, it reminded me of Tethered. I didn't like Tethered all that much and as much as i like a lot of what Alexander Aja has done, this didn't look very interesting
Solid addition to the V/H/S franchise. Stowaway had an amazing slow reveal into a haunting concept of body horror. Enjoyed all the shorts but Stowaway has stuck with me as the most disturbing and It was the least graphic.
@@danixinhahhh yeah, her situation of getting stuck i saw coming pretty quickly but the twist of what was happening in the final moments was pretty creepy. *Trying to avoid spoilers and so being intentionally vague
I think we are going through the same watchlist 😂. Watched and commented on your Salem's Lot review and watched the Platform 2 last night and now watching this review. Mostly enjoyed this but i would have preferred it stayed grounded in reality instead of getting kind of fantastical with some of the elements. Some choices were about the visuals, like the raging fire engulfing the character that lit his thin blanket on fire. It looked cool but the story would have been stronger without some of those types of exaggerated scenes. Also reminded me a bit of Snowpiercer, with the struggle for food, established rules and punishment.
First of all, thank you for watching and for the comments, I really appreciate it! And yes, it absolutely resembles Snowpiercer, how did I not think of that? ahhah Btw, did you rewatch the original before watching this one?
@@danixinhahhh i did not rewatch the original beforehand but i probably should have. I recognized the chubby guy with the chef knife and that's when i realized i may be missing some connections between the two. I may go back and rewatch the first while the second is still in my head. A refresher may help tie some of the pieces together
The film has been getting a lot of hate and i don't think it's deserved. I've read the book and seen the original tv movie multiple times and i thought this version held its own well enough. Definitely some cool visuals going on, the silhouetted scene of the kids cutting through the woods was very cool. Not perfect but entertaining enough to check out.
@@danixinhahhh I've seen mostly negative "critiques" online. I make my own decisions but curiosity gets me to see what others thought about whatever movie or show. I appreciate your honest opinion and glad you enjoyed it.
@@danixinhahhh the more interested in a film i am, the more i avoid any trailers or information. Some of my best movie experiences have been from going in blind
I'll add that to my list of ideas for the future, right now with halloween and all the october releases it's a bit difficult for me to add that to my schedule but I promise to get to that as soon as I can! Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
Hoping the movie doesn’t disappoint. Hard to take many of the negative reviews seriously because I’ve seen the same people hating on the movie before it even came out. Clearly they went into the movie not wanting to like it
Interesting, a review not realy reviewing much, and spoilers that don't spoil much as well. A big nothing-burger, for about 16 minutes. To be fair, you're not Disgraced Randolph, never go full Disgraced Randolph, so it's kinda fine, I guess. But, next time, please, more solid informations & less filler.
Thank you for the feedback. I know I ramble too much and I'm trying to keep my reviews shorter, I guess I just got a bit carried away with this one ahaha
Bad review, sorry, if you are not a fan from the franchise, you shouldn't step in and you don't know your subject... Leave that task to the people in the know!
girl has no idea what shes talking about, no idea about franchise, no idea about what review is, what movie review is. didnt even watch 2, didnt like 1, dont understand what makes that movie great, no matter if you like genre/setting or not. she has no idea about cinema and cinematography. jesus christ, tiktok generation 2024 content
This could be the worst film review of all time. The most depressing part of it all is that I watched this entire video of her talk about absolutely nothing
The third act, as I said, really surprised me. It has the same vibe as the ending in the original film but they added something else that shocked me! There's one particular scene that was pretty gross.
I like to hear the reviews that aren't biased the original. To me these remakes and reboots that create new fans are the ones that deserve the praise :) Fun video. You got a sub.
Thank you so much for the feedback and the sub. I've done the mistake before of not watching the original film so this time I did my homework. However, I do like to know the opinion of someone who didn't watch the original, I think it's an interesting pov
@@danixinhahhh I almost feel like if someone went into this movie totally blind of the series it might not hit the same. I just watched it, and there are so many callbacks and Easter Eggs and just downright grit in the scenery. I could be wrong, I am very biased as a huge fan of the franchise.
@@dontheador6649 Yeah, I kind of agree with you. I don't think you necessarily need to watch all the films but this is clearly a sequel to the first one and it does pay off watching it beforehand.
I watched the original again for like the 5th time, the goofy decisions of the characters sticks out like a sore thumb after years of people trashing the characters of prometheus and covenant. if you apply the same to the nostromo crew, you realize they're fn idiots. lol
@@moviereelnews Totally agree with you. I think this sort of thing is 90% nostalgia bias and 10% novelty. The original was something no one had really done before, so groundbreaking for its time and the novelty can't ever be captured again. But outside of that, I think it's mostly nostalgia. There are some movie remakes and sequels I like better than the original and I notice it's usually because I watched the remake first or because I didn't see the original until around the same time as the remake. You're not sitting on it being one of your favorite movies for decades, and that means nostalgia doesn't factor in. Remake examples better than the original, including a lot of horror genre: Evil Dead (2013), Dune (2021, 2024), The Thing (1982 - people actually forget it's a remake lol), A Star is Born (2018), It (2017, 2019), Little Women (2019), The Invisible Man (2020), Suspiria (2018). These are just some examples. In the hands of a talented director, they can do it better. A lot of older films are, if we are being honest, charming and original but also campy and simple.
@arfielding4495 I agree. unlike alien i can watch ALIENS many times and safely say that film holds up VERY well for what it is. I appreciate horror over action horror...so I have a good feeling alien romulus might become my favorite film of the franchise. the og alien film has built itself up on nostalgia stacked on top of nostalgia. I can be objective and say yes it was very good, and for it's time it stood apart...but if I throw away all the group think you realize it's a flawed film. and I agree with the remakes you listed they're definitely better for sure.
@@arfielding4495 That's a misleading list, it works both ways! Psycho Planet of the Apes (vs 2006 version) The Wicker Man A Nightmare on Elm Street Carrie The Omen Robocop Total Recall Day of the Jackal Ben Hur The Haunting I could go on. It's also disputable whether Evil Dead is better than Evil Dead 2 (which itself was more-or-less a remake of the original) and isn't really fair IMO, given the amount of time passed, to compare The Invisible Man in this context. Both are fantastic films.
@@arfielding4495 That's exactly how I feel about most of these classic films. I can appreciate them for what they are and what they did at the time they were released, but I didn't watch them then so I don't have the same attachment as a lot of people do, and that's totally fine. I'm sure I feel the same way about some films that I have a lot of nostalgia for but nowadays they aren't that great.
I started at 7 minutes after seeing you’re comment but gave up at 10 after hearing about the title font. 😂 who the fk cares about the font while listening to a film review!
@danixinhahhh I understand the longer you make your vid the more public watch hours you'll receive thereby unlocking patreon features for content creators on RU-vid. I too have that goal, but rambling on and on makes it very obvious
@@grantreborn That's not why I do it, honestly. If you check my other videos you'll see that most of them are around 10min long, I guess I just got carried away with this one. I am truly working on not rambling too much at the beginning of my videos. Still, I appreciate the feedback :)
