Just two Dudes chatting about Pop-culture, do you have an opinion about this? Hope we're not too late to give ours. Follow the socials @late2the_game @mauro1213 @martinezjrmiguela
I would watch it a lot in the 90s but not much since... the cast back then included Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, David Spade, Dana Carvey just some of my faves. I'm interested to watch this though.
Mike and Mauro, rest assured: This series is part of The Mandoverse...showrun by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, the creators of The MCU Spider-man Trilogy (Tom Holland), and Executive Produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Kathleen Kennedy had minimal involvement with it. Skeleton Crew takes place 5 years after Return Of The Jedi. Many of the characters from this show will appear in, The Mandalorian & Grogu, coming in 2026. This particular story, though it co-stars 4 preteen kids, isn't necessarily going to be a "kiddie tale". It's going to be a combo of family fun w/ a backdrop that's rather serious and adult, where the stakes and dangers are high. It's basically going to be The SWU seen from the eyes of the youngest (and greenest) members of the galaxy, during the time of The New Republic. Supposedly, these children get accidentally lost in deeper parts of The Outer Rim (The Pirate Nation is one of the adversaries they encounter), and may even stumble upon some strange activities going on in The Unknown Regions (where The Remnant Empire is hiding out). You're right: This Disney + series is meant to be an homage to Steven Spielberg's Amblin movies and TV shows (E.T., The Goonies, Back To The Future, Amazing Stories), along w/ George Lucas' TV movies and shows, like, The Star Wars Holiday Special and his 2 Ewoks Adventures films from The mid-1980s. I'm not at all worried about this project. This will be the counter to the godawful (and, I saw it, Mike...so, I know just HOW BAD and canon-destroying it was) Leslye Headland atrocity, The Acolyte. Take care, Guys. May The Force Be With You...
Sadly I won’t have a chance to see Gladiator 2 will be long dead before it comes out around thankdgiving . Can only say that with Maximus dead and without the beautiful HansZimmer music it will not be the same , but the bits of it I have seen being advertised it holds promise, would have liked to have seen the new story , but in my mind Gladiator is and was the best historical movie ever made to date
I agree. not having all the elements of the previous film will DEFINITELY affect the experience. About the first part of your comment, enjoy life for as long as you can. -Mike
fow·lee uh dur (Madness between two) I will see this one!!! I don't think it's a musical. It just has musical parts in it. I'm curious to see lady gaga as Harley Quinn. 😊
I want to watch! He is Lucius, Lucilla's son, which in the Gladiator they kind of make you think he might be Maximus son. 🤔 but regardless, he admired maximus and it seems like he'll continue his fight for freedom. Let's go see it!!😊
I saw the preview at the theater... it looks good. I definitely want to watch it. I'm just not sure I like a different captain America. I'm still mourning. 🤔 Btw....was I the only one who thought of Sam Elliot when he said he looked different without the mustache??
It's MY opinion on Joker, that's all. If you feel differently than I do then GREAT, that's your opinion. I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other it's just an opinion. -Mike.
Hi, Mauro and Mike. I'm looking forward to this, esp. the Story Mode. It takes place between Episode V and VI, with The Empire and The Rebellion being, "in the thick of it". Yes, I get Star Wars: 1313 vibes from it, too. This crime lord and his syndicate are a new group in The Underworld. I'm intrigued to see what becomes of them, since they come in to being not long before the end of The Empire; which means they could still be active in The Outer Rim during The New Republic Era. Supposedly, it's an open world game, so players have a definite say in how/where this story goes. I totally expect to see Kay Vess (esp. since her video game rendering closely resembles the Actress voicing and portraying her in CGI) and some of her allies appear in The Mandoverse, given that her story occurs only 7 or 8 years before Mando (Season 3) and Ahsoka. Stay well, you 2. May The Force Be With You... PLAY ON.
Good reaction, Guys. You should watch the 2nd Trailer, which is much better, along w/ the recent TV spots. As someone who is an avid (though heavily critical) fan of The High Republic, I will be watching, but, let me explain to you WHY there's so much controversy and disunion over this miniseries: 1. In 2018, The Lucasfilm Story Group Head, Pablo Hidalgo helped create a brand new group of writers for a specific new book and comic project. They are known as, The Project Luminous Writers Group. Though many/most of them are all talented writers (and Star Wars Fans), many of them seem to have been picked because of their sociopolitical wherewithal, with too many of them becoming a hive mind about DEI/SJW/Woke storytelling. NONE of them were previous writers from George Lucas' original period of ownership (1971 to 2012), and that's telling. Project Luminous/The High Republic Multimedia Initiative is how The Acolyte is connected; though, it's apparently on the peripheral, since it takes place literally in the last days or weeks of the era in The SWU known as, The High Republic (so far, spanning 400 years in the galaxy's history, from 382 to 132 years BBY/A New Hope). 2. The High Republic Multimedia Initiative comprises content coming in the forms of Print/Publishing, Animation, live-action, and Gaming. The publishing side is made up of Three separate-yet-related Phases: Phase One takes place between 200 and 198 years before The Phantom Menace; Phase Two takes place 350 years prior to Episode I/TPM; while Phase Three takes place 197 years before TPM and 97 years before the incidents of The Acolyte. The Animated side is, Young Jedi Adventures (on Disney +), which takes place during Phase One of the books and comics. The first piece of live-action content from this initiative is, The Acolyte. Within a year or so, the gaming side will be represented by the open world video game, Star Wars: Eclipse (in what part of the timeline its story takes place, has yet to be determined). 3. When the books and comics came out, they initially did well (Phase One), but the books and comics (as good as most of the storytelling is) started to progressively depict aspects of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, non-binary-ism (depicted by the MALE Jedi identical twin Brothers named, Terec and Ceret), and throuples/threesomes esp. within the younger tales for young adults and juniors; which was distressing. There's clearly an agenda there, with this kind of storytelling and "coding". When some of the SW Fans (esp. the Old School ones) started to criticize the publishing campaign and the writers who were handpicked for these works, a lot of the writers rather dismissively attacked the fans, calling them homophobic, racist, and sexist. Some of the writers even declared that readers who DON'T wish to see 21st Century issues depicted in The SWU, SHOULDN'T READ OUR BOOKS. That stoked the flames, and the book sales leveled off and didn't increase. 4. The High Republic, thus, became an avatar for what is wrong with Lucasfilm Ltd., and its handling of the SW IP. So, a fair majority of the SW Fanbase has a (rather justifiable) negative view towards the entire initiative, with many of them not even reading any of the material or watching the Animated series (which also has a main character, whose parents are 2 Mothers, without any mentioning of who her Father is, and why he's not present in her life...mind you, this is a show for kids under the age of 12). This attitude spills over to The Acolyte, esp. because of the following... 5. In December 2020, Kathy Kennedy announced, along w/ a bunch of other Disney + series, The Acolyte, overseen by showrunner/main writer Leslye Headland. She, in the past, was an assistant for Hollywood mogul, Harvey Weinstein (who has been strongly accused and convicted of sex crimes against actresses). She is also a staunch lesbian, who seeks to depict homosexuality in Star Wars (the actress, Amandla Stenberg, who is the lead in The Acolyte, identifies as Non-binary). She has also said some rather critical, derogatory things about George Lucas and his control of SW lore and storytelling over the years. Headland intends to "change things up" with her idiosyncratic story. It has also been strongly hinted (within Gina Carano's current lawsuit with Elon Musk against Disney/Lucasfilm Ltd. for unlawful termination, libel, and harassment) that Ms. Headland had a hand in harassing The Mandalorian actress, Gina Carano (who plays Cara Dune, and was about to star in her own Mandoverse series, Rangers Of The New Republic, in 2021), in late-2020, which ultimately led to the cancellation of Rangers Of The New Republic. So, SW Fans (including myself) are very "ticked off" by the fact that, seemingly, Headland was given a streaming show (in 2018), partly due to the fact that she helped "take down" and "cancel" a fellow employee of Disney/Lucasfilm Ltd., at the obvious behest of Ms. Kathleen Kennedy (who disliked Gina Carano, her character, and her hiring by Jon Favreau, minute one, which is discussed in the lawsuit). Thus, Kennedy and Headland are very much personae non grata in 2024...along with The Acolyte. Long-winded, but that's the truth of why things are the way they are. I DO strongly recommend MOST of The High Republic novels and comic series. I could also tell you which ones to avoid, too. BTW: In official SW canon, there's no such thing as a Grey Jedi. They would just be A Force-user with no ties to either The Light or The Dark Side, but something in the middle. They also wouldn't be called a Jedi or a Sith. Thus, an Acolyte is usually someone following the doctrines of The Dark Side and or The Sith, yet may not necessarily be training as an actual Sith Apprentice. We'll find out, in June, I guess. Hugs, Dudes. Take care.
I appreciate you explaining all of that, I was curious if all the controversy but I didn't take the time to dig deep into it. Thank you for taking the time to explain.- Mike.
They don't have lightsaber whips in cannon because they are as lame as f@$k 😂 I guess you'll be tuned into TROP season 2 also! Your an actual 17 year old dweeb go create something that you can relate 2 leaveSW 2 the SW fans!
You are correct about this comment. I just recently learned about all that you are saying. I'm not usually one to pay attention to all the "behind the scenes" stuff so it's all news to me. Thanks again for all your input. -Mike.
I don't know about not being fans, I was not aware of a lot of the things that you are aware of. I understand a little bit of it now, and I will still watch and make up my own mind, thanks.-Mike.
@@late2the_game more fool you that's hours of your life you'll never get back OG SW fan was 4 in 1977! SW has been gutted by people that just don't know it they just know it brings a payday!
I was 5 years old when it premiered, I didn't watch it then. I did have a few figures and a E-11 blaster at that age, that was enough to spark my interest. Unfortunately, yes, all Disney wants is to make money off of the Star Wars brand but it seems to bitting them in the ass because they've been loosing money with a lot of their projects.
@@late2the_game after Andor season 2 I'm out for good! Or until Disney sells it I'll never forgive them for Obi-Wan I couldn't even finish the series! I know there's more important things in the world than SW but this is really sad!
Quote from Anthony Perkins(Norman Bates) in Psycho: We're all in our private "traps" and none of us can get out. We scratch and claw and never budge and inch. This all could be taking place in his mind and he is "trapped" in a loop of loss because he went to a concert with his daughter and left to go to the restroom and she disappeared and he became a vigilante killer known as The Butcher killing society's killers like Dexter. The singer Lady Raven is really M. Night's daughter and real musician so it shows yet again father/daughter bonds like mother/son in Psycho. The "raven" part could be a clue to Edgar Allan Poe who wrote about the bird who symbolized "madness". One of the detectives in great casting is Haley Mills who was in the original The Parent "Trap" If you notice the weird look Josh Hartnett, gives at the end of the clip it is also similar to Anthony Perkins in Psycho. One of the movie marquee's in the trailer is for The Watchers which is for M. Night's daughter's Ishana's film coming out in the Summer. The dates of Lady Raven's concerts could be one's where he killed various serial killers too. It also says "from the World of M. Night" so it might be connected to another film or character. Will we see a twist of Haley Joel Osment coming in from The Sixth Sense figuring out the ghostly case as an adult?
The makeup does look like the joker! I don't like the makeup. Idk if I'll watch it the makeup bugs me to much. Even in the sequels they made in the past the makeup was similar to Brandon's but this one nope. & Ofc the effects are gonna be a little better than 1994. But the original one WILL always be the Greatest! & It is not overrated 🙄😂 Thanks for the review primo ☺️
I like some of the things in the live action, the effects are great, the fight choreography is great, I loved that the crew on Zuko's ship was the ones he saved. But there are way to much exposition, they tell you almost everything without showing much. What happened to show don't tell. Where was all the character development? Why didn't they have any flaws to grow out of? Why didn't Aang waterbend? I sad about what they did to Katara. Considering they almost had the same amount of run time I was a bit disapointed they didn't do more with it. I don't blame the actors they did very fine, but I wasn't a fan of the script. I wish I loved or really liked it cause I love the original. Cause I really liked the One Piece live action and am a huge One Piece fan.
I think it will be difficult to love it as much as the original. After I (Mike) watched the animation I noticed the growth of the characters and realized it was missing in the live action. I also love the original. -Mike.
